We need to go hard against those dirty handballing Sudnee pricks as well, a full strength squad with Rojas starting. Basically our best possible side and attack from start to finish. And then the Fairies a week later should be a breeze, so 9 points over the next 3 rounds should do us me thinks.

I agree with Steve-o. yeah we didn't play too bad but as happened with adelaide at hindmarsh earlier this season, if we go to sleep for 5 minutes we get destroyed. We've not got good records a hindmarsh or SFS so best we can hope for is a draw. Must win our last 2 games at home, if we get draws it is simply not going to be enough.

I think we're gonna make the top 6. I expect us to get at least 6 points from our remaining games to leave us on 38+

As for our competitors, I would be surprised is the heart make more than 4 points out of their games, they can probably beat sydney I think a win against CCM or a draw against Roar is unlikely.

The Jets are could give us run for our money although I don't expect them to get a result in any of their away games, Us, Victory and CCM although we can probably expect them to beat perth and get a result against sydney at home. I'd give them 4-6 points.

But this doesn't leave much room for a margin of error so an away point could be crucial and failing that we need to smash Jets and the Fury (9-0) for a superior goal difference.

I can see possibly 3 teams on 38 points at the finish and was going to put something up  , but...
Lets get Sunday over with first.

Sydney are sneaking their way back into the equation, even if remotely, on 29 points after their win over Perth

They play the Jets on Feb 6, then us on Feb 9th, then Heart on Feb 12 in the last round.

So Sydney could play spoiler in the run to the finals.

Yes that is pretty ominous, 3 very winnable games for them  (seeing as we play them away, and with our sh*te away form ) and we dont want the other 2 to win against them.

If we win today (like so many home games it is a must win) and win our last home game against the Fury, we will be on 38 points, as would Sydney if they win all three games. Then it might be down to goal difference

Nail biting stuff, or whatever else you do

7 more points mean that heart and sydney mathematically can't catch us (assuming heart cant catch up to our goal diff)

easier said than done, starts with today's must-win and requires an away draw - even with 7 we can still miss out if jets run into form during their remaining games after today

i initially felt optimistic after looking at the table this morning, but after a wee bit of analysis our away form is again rearing it's ugly head as the main threat to our survival

having said all that, win today and we're officially inside the 6 - could do wonders for the lads' confidence knowing were in there and its our to lose

I think so. Trouble is getting that away point. Neither Adelaide or Sydney are places I'd be confident avoiding defeat at on current form.

You're giving Sydney - the team top of the current form table based on last 5 games - three draws?

Sydney should beat the Jets for the second time in a month. Our away form suggests that Sydney will beat us. And given the Heart haven't won in their last 4, I'd pick Sydney to win that one too.

im going to agree with this except i think we will make this a win for us, i think the boys have what it takes to dig deep for the win or at least a draw

I'm picking us because I'm going to back us to finally produce something over there on the back of great home form and the fact it's a bit of a last stand. Throw in some blind faith and the ability to ignore stats and you have a draw.

The draw with the Heart is because it's in Melbourne, I can imagine it being one of those games in which both team can make the six pending other results with a win, a draw being no good for either and all the nerves lead to a cagy performance from both sides and a dour 0-0 draw.

The Jets result, yea I think hungover brain decided to take leave from logic there :D I do think it'll be one of those games where the formbook gets thrown out the window. Could even be a bit of handbags/ bobsleds getting thrown around too.
