Round 9

Important Mid Table Clashes for Us:

Victory v Perth

Nix v Wanderers

Win for 'Nix, loss or draw for Perth => 'Nix 5th

(right now we have the same GD as Perth, two points behind, and just the point behind Wanderers)

Top of the Table

Adelaide v CCM; draw please.

The Rest

Brisbane v Jets; win to Brisbane gets us to just one point behind Jets in 4th, with a better GD

Sydney v Heart; ugly Sydney win gives us some space from the cellar dwellers

Sunderland v WBA 2-4; WBA to third <boggly eyed emoticon> and will stay there if Chelsea loose or draw to City

The next two weeks, a few players will be away on Socceroos duty. They have a training squad of 25 that will meet up this week, and 20 will make the trip. I'm picking Mooy for the Wanderers and Emmo for Sydney will be part of the 20, not sure Antonis will be. They will play 4 games in 7 days, so the effects could lost even when they come home for a couple weeks.

Both Adelaide & CCM lose their keepers, so hopefully might drop a few points.

The Newcastle/Victory situation is interesting. Newcastle are only ahead because they won the match between the two sides. I would love for something like this to happen after 27 games, a coin toss to decide the premiership would be hilarious

Would come down to yellows & reds before a coin toss, wouldn't it?

Yeah it would, which would make it even more incredible for it to go down to a coin toss.

Wow since Brisbane played us they've only won 1 game (v Sydney).  We should have beaten them at home when we had the chance.

We respected them too much. We expected them to be awesome, and I think if we were to play them next week, we would be going in for the kill rather than be satisfied with a draw.

Perhaps, but they are a much better side than we are.

Just had come off a 5-0 thrashing of the Victory, so there were false signs they might be getting better. But we had our chances to win that, just didn't take them.

Would have to rate the Tards to get the win against the Small Town in Scotland.

Pissants vs Salt Dogs - how the heck did we lose to those two teams?  (This is RHETORICAL - please don't answer)

Baggies - good on  you.  (Bostin!)

Will be interesting to see what 5 players don't make the cut for the Socceroos trip. As it stands, these are the players who will be missing for the next couple weeks.

Adelaide - GALEKOVIC, MALIK, Vidosic
CCM - ROGIC, RYAN
Glory - JAMIESON, THWAITE
Heart - BEHICH, GARCIA, MARRONE
Jets - TAGGART
Roar - FRANJIC, HALLORAN, SMITH
Sydney - ANTONIS, EMERTON
Victory - MILLIGAN, THOMPSON
Wanderers - MOOY

Could be a good time to catch up lost ground.

No better start to the season than last year!

Two wins after 8 games is just not good enough for a club with high ambitions.

A dog with a bone :)

Looking at their squad, I'd say the 5 to not make the cut could be Taggart, Antonis, Malik, Smith & Franjic.

Mainly because they have a fair few CBs, and DMs, and the others dont exactly scream out for selection. They do look pretty light up front

and yet again no socceroos from the Nix squad, yet every other team there is a name.  Disgrace Dura hasn't been called up.  Blatant disregard is bollocks

Even if you are  correct, I bet if Dura had never played for us and was in another A league side, his name would never have been mentioned.

Not even in earlier seasons? Jon mckain, who was fairly average for us over 2 seasons always got a look in over dura even. Also interestingly, mckain didn't play for Australia While he played for us.

The table would suggest otherwise.

Dura & McKain got Socceroos calls ups, just Dura didn't get on the field. Was a skit on youtube of one of the Socceroos teaching them how to be Australian.

Will be funny if someone drags that youtube clip up if Dura ends up playing for the All Whites

9 games nine goals, pretty quiet in the shed.

WSW 5 goals is deathly silent

so if the event of us winning occurs, then 5th place occurs

hhm, that would be good (especially as the top 4 could start to open up a bit of a gap if others don't pull finger)

At the moment I'd want us to definitely finish higher than Perth, Newcastle or Sydney- I think we've been easily better than them. The others I'm not sure- I think we have to improve a lot- we certainly haven't shown our best football yet, or fully used the depth of our team I don't think. Be interesting to see the 3 guns up front tomorrow. Not sure why we need such an attacking bench though, if we are not going to use them all...surely Boxall or Clarke could be a sensible option?

Top 3 getting a bit of a breakaway, but I think Adelaide will drop back into the pack. A good December will see us in a decent position. Three points today will be a great start.

3 home games in a row should see Nix points.

It's 2 home games in a row. But 4 of our next 5 are at home, and 3 of those are against teams either below us, or close to us on the table, so it's a great opportunity to move up the ladder.

Fairly happy with that considering how unlucky we have been with a couple of games this season. Looking forward to our string of home games even more now

So having played everyone now, the only team that's really dominated us is Marcus Rojas FC.

We bossed Bling in the first round and also came out on top eventually over the Jests.  Everyone else has been more or less on par with us.

Also many punters fap on about how the other teams have improved and their games are fluid and skilful (a pretty mixed bag you'd have to admit, especially after this weekend), but clearly when they play us they lace up their "play like pants" boots.

If we extend this form out (3 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses) out over the full season, would this be enough to make the playoffs?

Or are the other results too dependent?
