Win next week when we smash the Salty Dogs will see us back on track and best season start.

We have a hard month ahead, key thing is for other teams above us to slip up. If we can get a run going when we have a number of home games in a row, I still think top 4 is fair enough.

I think we will see a fired up Nix next week, some players with points to prove, lots of wounded pride.  Siggie back from his diving trip, a rampant fever zone (weren't our lot in tardistan awesome tonight?).

make. believe.

Don't think we are going to beat these fluid sides playing with essentially a 4132

Not many teams play with this formations and theres a reason for it.

The great brazil sides used to play a 4222 which is similar to how we often look, except the two attacking midfielders are traditionally a lot more central rather than the way we have two wingers. The way we end up is having smith and manny as a holding pair, and a huge hole in front of them where a central midfielder or second striker should really cover

Did that loss get us any points in a close league?

Everybody chill out. We are just slow starters, that's all.

The most points we have ever got from the first 5 games is 7, and currently we have 5.

That's as many points as 09/10 when we finished 4th in regular season, and actually 1 more point than last year when we also finished 4th.

In fact, in 10/11 when we had 7 points from 5 games we ended up finishing 6th, so a faster start obviously doesn't suit us.

You know guys, winning the league is like making love to a beautiful woman, you have to start slowly, get into some rhythm, build to a climax, and make sure you finish on top.

Four of the top six from last season make up the bottom four teams on the table. All the teams who didn't make the playoffs last year are in the top 6 currently. Interesting.

Still early on. Teams in this league go on winning/losing streaks with a boring regularity.

we could have 5 Ls in a row soon for a new club record!..but in Dec/Jan? we get 4 out of 5 games at home.

Think  Roar lost 6/7 in a row last season?

5 in a row, and then lost another the week after they broke their losing streak.

Sack Rado more like! Brisbane become the final A-League side to find themselves on the bottom of the table, every side had been there before except for the Roar.

35 goals in the last 8 games. Great entertainment.

A must win game in round six? Nah.

Would make the table look like much prettier reading though.

Look at the company sharing the bottom 4 spots with us.  First game this season we've not scored a goal and we didn't really look like we would.

With our schedule for the next month, we are in real danger of wasting our good start to the season.

Victory - We have never won in Melbourne
CCM - Best record of any Aussie team in Wellington
Jets - Our bunnies, but it is 3-4 days after the AWs play
Glory - Heat & travel means we always rarely do well there
Bleh, not looking good.

After 6 games...

07/08 - DLLWDW - 8pts - LLLLWLDDLWDWLLL - 20 pts (21 games)

08/09 - DLLDLW - 5 pts - DWLLWWWLDWLWLDL - 26 pts (21 games)

09/10 - LWDLDD - 6 pts - DDDDWLWDWLDLDWWWLLWWW - 40 pts (27 games)

10/11 - DWLLWD - 8pts - LWLDLLWLLWDLWLWDWLWLWWLW - 41 pts (30 games)

11/12 - DWLLLD - 5 pts - DWLWWLWLWLWWWWLLWWDLL - 40 pts (27 games)

12/13 - WDDLLL - 5 pts

Uh oh, equal worst start to the season ever. Or equal third best ever start to the season ever, depending on your point of view.

And three points next week would get us back to the equal best start to the season ever.

I think it's interesting that 6 games in there is only 3 points difference between our best and worst starts to the season.

Also, even if we lose next week that will still be case - we will have 5 points and our best start after 7 games is 8 points. And if we win it will be the equal best ever start to the season!

Makes you wonder whether early season form is a) particularly revealing and b) anything worth worrying about.

On the other hand, if we lose next week it will also equal our worst ever run of form - 4 losses in a row (07/08) - which doesn't seem like anything we should be particularly pleased about.
