That's incorrect.

The Phoenix's longest undefeated streak is 7 matches from 4 September 2009 - 25 October 2009, Rounds 5 - 11, D D D D D D W

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Nope. Our best longest undefeated streak was DDDDDDW 7 games in 2009. The W in that was a memorable 6-0 that disappointingly wasn't 7.

But hey 16 points in this 6 game streak still going vs 9 points in those 7 games... This is about our best streak....

If it is about our best streak, then yes, I agree, but Doloras said longest ever unbeaten streak, not best streak...

Meanwhile, __IF__ Perth happened to beat the Victory  3 - 0 tommorrow (or by more than that) we'd go 2nd.

(I am hoping/betting on/predicting it will be a 1-1 draw)

Personally I predict Victory to win at home to Perth as they've been great at home this year. Should be great game though. Still think we're more likely to finish ahead of Perth than Victory. Also, City are bigger threat to us from below than Sydney.

I think Victory are the stronger of the two, but can't see us getting up and beating Perth for a top two finish. City look to be finding their mojo.

We'll see what Roar are made of on Sunday.

Really?

Hypothetical... IF we had beaten CCM at Eden Park we'd be on 27 points. If MVC beat Perth, that would see the top of the table as:

Perth 29

Victory 28

Nix 27

after 13 rounds.

I know we didn't beat CCM, but my point is we are currently one goal scored in that game off being RIGHT in the mix for the top two, and it's 1/2 a game off the halfway point of the season.

There is a long way to go and I absolutely can see us in the top 2 at the end of the season. I am not saying we will be, NUFC's balls, etc. Just that I think saying you can't see it is overly pessimistic.

I believe.

Still early days yes, but as you'll see on the table and from the last podcast, Perth have the stingiest defence (along with theTards).

We were unlucky to concede against them in rnd 1, but were played off the park in rnd 7.

Now we are half way and they have some big matches coming up so we are in with a sniff if they bottle these and/or pick up injuries.  Otherwise I think they and the Tards will finish higher than us.

We play them in two weeks too. Could be there for the taking if they play like they did against Perth.

Be interested in people's thoughts on how many points people think we would have had by now. For me, would have expected to beat Perth and draw with WSW at home. And draw with one of CCM or Jets away. So for me, we are probably a couple of points ahead of where I thought we'd be.

Perhaps also now we are a third of the way through how do people think we will continue?

Will Perth fall away, will Citeh or Roar gain their mojo and kick on at our expense?

Barring injuries I think we will claim 4th (Bling match will be a good indicator) and may even challenge for 3rd if Perth or Adelaide slip up.  Can't see the Tards losing ground however.

Knocking on Adelaide's door, the Tards in sight.

Whoops, forgot about Greenacre's caretaker stint.

Merrick 8/21

Ricki 15/77

How about 2009/10 vs 2014/15?

That was when RoF was feared by visitors with our sticky grass, and I think we had a good run of draws away, but would still be interested to see the number of away wins then.

Apparently we have already equalled our record for most away wins in a season.

So, would we rather Victory beat Perth so we can close the gap on first, Perth beat Victory so we are closer to overhauling Victory, or a draw so neither team gets much further away from us?

A draw would be good. I feel that Perth is still overachieving so I would rather they won  than the Victory.

Draw best result, Victory win second and Perth win third for me. Perth are bound to fall down the table a bit, I reckon it'll be easier to overtake them than overtake Victory.

Dour 0-0 draw with 2 red cards per team and 4 broken legs please.

People keep saying the Glory are over achieving but we are half way they the season, I think it's time people accept they are the real deal.

They have recruited a very good squad, are really dangerous at set pieces (huge area of weakness in the A-League) and Perth is a horrible trip for teams to make. The only way I see them fading is if they are hit with injuries to key players. Much like us, they haven't had their depth tested.

Possible counter view: A Perth win is the best result, because they might be going to be deducted points for salary cap breaches, so three points to them might actually end up meaning zero points out of the game.

Failing that a draw is best for us.
