Basically need two wins to have a good shout at 4th.

Shut it all down, cheat the cap so FFA move us to 7th so we don't have to suffer through a playoff loss.

win tomorrow is all we can do, hope Adeaide lose next week and we steal a draw, think our goal difference will get us 4th.

If Rudan thinks this announcement hasnt hurt our chances he's way off base.

We play the last game of the season, so we know exactly what we have to do against the Glory. Gotta beat City tomorrow to keep the door open for 4th first.

Permalink Permalink

We're still in the hunt for 4th obviously, so no point giving in yet.

But, it is immensely frustrating that we've given up pole position for the home final given where we were a month ago. Circumstances are clearly different, but it feels much like the year where I think we briefly held 1st place (after the Hutt Rec games and 'washout' v. Brisbane), looked good until 3-4 weeks out from the finals, and then faded and exited early.

I sincerely hope I'm proved wrong.

Adelaide did to Victory what they did to us, closed the space down really well and shut the game down.....MV just had no space to play.

We only have ourselves to blame. We were in pole position for 4th and then failed to turn up in the first half of the last two games.

good on CCM coming home with a wet sail, maybe they'll beat City next week for us and fingers cross that Roar bounce back and take points of Adeaide.

It's the hope that kills us...

Decent chance that we finish 6th even if all that happens...

If 5th means a trip to Adelaide, I wouldn't be averse to finishing 6th and heading to Melbourne. We have managed 3 draws vs the Victory this season. Pretty much all roads lead to Perth for a Semi Final tho.

After posting results like that one last night ("Nix 3,  Melb City 2"), it should be bleeding obvious Feverbot needs to be retained for the next season on a marquee deal.  Are you listening, Welnix?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

I'm not so worried about Adelaide actually. Shark, we're certainly overdue for putting a good shift in there!

Assume team will travel directly there from Perth.

Dumb that Adelaide get a big gap between games while we're Sunday night in Perth.

Gonna be worse for the Semi Final. Glory have been given a Friday night kick off, odds are that they face the winner of the finals game in Adelaide.

isn’t it more likely we play MV?

Needs wins by City and Perth for that to happen, with a 7 goal swing in GD in favor of City. Certainly possible, but wouldn't exactly say likely.

CCM have been pretty good defensively recently and I don't think City will have much motivation to finish 5th.

Yeah, staying 6th basically means that they don't have to travel, and they've done OK against Victory this season, so don't expect them to be super motivated.

Melbourne City are up 4-0 with 30 minutes still to go... 6th looking almost likely now, can't believe it

Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.
