Lets go for a minimum of 6 out of the next 9 points.

Things are pretty positive for the Nix at the moment.

World Cup success was paramount to future Nix success this season, and we emphatically ticked the first box last Saturday at the ROF.

The team just has a very settled look about it, defensively we are looking sound and continuity in our back four helps. Going forward, we have no shortage of options, and always seem to have players in form. Our only problem right now is depth at the back if (heaven forbid) any of our defenders go down.

Amazing what 3 wins and a draw from the past five can do for the table. We've claimed 10 points from the past 5 after only taking 10 from the first 10.

He can sit on the bench when he gets back to fitness imo

True that, maybe in a couple of weeks?

In that case, Caceres or most likely Hearfield would have to drop off, Costa's earning his spot IMO.

agree, no way he can expect to walk back in, but it does give us some defensive cover - which was RP's concern

Let's go a game at a time.

Brisbane will be a very desperate side when we play them next week. Keep things simple, bring back Lia for Diego and hopefully knock the Roar off for the first time in our history.

9 points from the next three is a big ask, but would really put us up there.  Six or seven points wouldn't be bad.  Couple of good crowds at home and Palmy to support the guys would be great.

Roar away, Melbourne at home, Sydney at Palmy.

love to get that first win v Roar and to get on top of Sydney for a change.  Yeh, and smash Melbourne, why not.

Getting the first away win is massive, particularly when we're approaching an away home game.

I'll take 6 of 9...but it would mean for 2 wins, we have to cop a loss. Keep accumulating points.

And...wouldn't a draw in Perth/Sydney makes the most sense?

Perth would jump us to 5th if they won, and Sydney would jump 8 clear of us if they in.

A draw means we stay ahead of Perth by a point, and have Sydney just 6 ahead of us, but we can potentially catch them, as our GD is comparable to theirs.

So, now into the 2nd half of the league season. Time to review the coach's contract:

AW make the WC...check
Nix in line for the play-offs... check (so far)

Dear Mr Herbert, please accept an offer to extend your contract for another year.

Oh, sorry: Forgot that had already been sorted. Carry on!

perth sydney draw def the result for us - looking quite likely at the moment - am impressed how perth are going tho, given how mucked around they are with injuries, suspensions.

No worries. We have a three point gap and a massive goal difference going into the next round.

Top 6 have slipped a little gap....3 points to seventh. its still tight as a ducks bum but we have to feel much more confident about the way the season is unfolding. Our 6 point positive goal difference could be key.
We realy should be aiming to finish 4th...to get the home semi game...that would be awsome.

Melb, Sydney and the mariners look good for top 6. I reckon GC could still unravel. Perth are hugely inconsistent but they have talent. Can't see much action from those below us though Adelaide can upset sides.

If we keep playing the way we are and avoid injuries to key players then 4th is not impossible!

4th = home minor semi final?

Playoffs:
3rd v 6th
4th v 5th
Both one legged ties.

1st v 2nd
Two legs - winner straight to grand final with right to host (subject to ground)

Winner 3rd/6th v winner 4th/5th
One legged - IIRC if 6th beat 3rd then 4th/5th hosts.

Loser 1st/2nd v Winner 3rd/6th/4th/5th
One legged tie - winner to grand final.

Grand final.

Is that really how it works?? I thought It'd be 1v 6, 2v5, 3v4? Isnt that how it works in league? Or maybe they have eight?  Gah I'm confused now. Well if it is they way it works, then its pretty much a knockout tournament for 3rd to 6th with the right to try and break into the grand final. Seems very likely that there will be three 1st vs 2nd games

PS
2006/07 - 1v2 three times in playoffs
2007/08 - 1v2 three times in playoffs
2008/09 - 1v2 three times in playoffs

Only 2005/06 saw 3rd gatecrash the final.

I would like a two legged playoff somewhere in there for the teams who are 3rd to 6th? Winner of 3v6  vs 4v5   could be over two legs? Maybe start the 1v2 legs at the same time? Would make the games more meaningful
