What's with the table? Doesn't makes sense.

Shows the Roar as the only team to have played 20 games.

Must be another team who have played the same number.

No need to panic yet.....he says, trying to sound confident.

Its so tight at the moment. All we have to do is get a couple of wins.....see what happens to shiite teams like the Jets. they get a few wins and bang they are in 4th.

In reality its 8 games to go....4 at home against Roar,Fury,Adelaide(CHch) and the last game of the season vs mariners. These teams are beatable. We don't play Sydney or Melbourne again.
We should/need to get a minimun of 3 wins and a draw against these sides.  If we can then pinch a couple of draws away then we should have enough points for the playoffs.

Why must there? There are three teams that have played 18. With the others all on 19 if another team had played 20, then the table wouldn't add up!

However, if you're genuinely puzzled, take a look at the fixture list and in particular "round" 19:

I can't remember if there was a particular reason to spread this one out or if it was just trying out midweek games for everyone (beyond the Jets ACL fixture clash rearrangement that is).

yip Roar won midweek and last night so they fly up the table. We really need to be winning all our home games. tickets to the Jan 9th Roar game could make for a good late xmas present.  We need big crowds for these four games.

Its not going to be easy to climb up. But we need to win, and to me its going to come down to the strikers and the season could therefore be judged on the recruiting Ricki has made.

A Perth win will give me the collywobbles. 4 point gap would start to ring alarm bells.

Wow ! A 4 win streak would be lovely right now.

Food for thought...

We need 4 points from the next two games to match last season's total of 26 points from 21 games.

By no means an easy task for us to avoid being worse than we were last year (after the same number of games anyway).

This is one f**ked up league.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yes, but considering we have beaten them home and away recently you'd hope we'd be closer to them.

Well, that doesn't really help us a lot.

Mariners vs Sydney mid-week, if Mariners win, they swap with Brisbane. Then Perth take on the Jets, we have to hope Jets win, and that we somehow manage a win over the Mariners, Thursday next week.

That still leaves us outside the Top 6.

Not looking at all likely I must say.Ard Righ2009-12-21 08:34:53

Geez Newcastle have proven how close the league is this year haven't they! They seemed pretty sound in their bottom two position just a couple of weeks ago and now look at em!

Crikey it's such a tight league. 2 wins and we are right back in the mix. One loss and we are potentially last

says a lot about the league. some kof the games have been good to watch with a ineffectual result, yet some have been crap and seen a team bounce up some serious places.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

If we win our next 2 we could be 6th overtaking Brisbane and Central Coast. And if Perth lose then we overtake them as well

Perth are smashing the Jets.  A draw would have been preferable.  Can't see it happening.

Meh. We can't spend our whole life relying on other teams results. Its up to us to prove we are a top 6 side, in my opinion that has to start now.
