LPF1 as you would probably know; our run of 9 matches unbeaten at home must be one of the biggest, where is it ranked in the A-League and also what are the records ahead of us?

Thanks.

Only Central Coast with 12 and Sydney with 14 have had better unbeaten streaks at home than us, both in 2005/06.

GET IN THERE!!!!

Thanks Oska.

I find that quite surprising, I expected Adelaide to be atleast one of those teams.

Very disappointing start to season.

P.S. and we have the top 2 teams yet to play.

So from the same time last season, we have more points, scored more goals and conceeded less.

Very disappointing.

I'm just disappointed that we aren't as high up as what I think we deserve to be based on how we have played.

Exactly.....I have a laugh as soon as i read the " we are only 3 points away from fourth". This is only relevant if we keep winning and everyone else keeps drawing. We are second bottom, thats the reality. We are now dependant on other results and for us winning a few to move up the table!!!

So when is this great push up the Table going to come? We just played the bottom team and dropped 2 points!

Sure, one win won't mean we are in fourth place, but it means we aren't far away. Like, it wouldn't be unusual for Arsene Wenger or a manager to say "we are only tree points away from first" near the end of the season. That's a fair enough statement.

It's silly to say at this point that we need to "keep winning" and everybody else needs to "keep drawing". For instance, to finish ahead of CCM this season we only need 4 or 5 more points than them over the next 20 games or whatever. If we "keep winning" we will obviously finish top of the league (not that I think we will). We are nowhere near the stage of having to rely on other results to make it.

Your view on whether we have disappointed or not will depend, to a degree, on whether you think the team have delivered results that reflect their potential - I don't think they have - I think we have underachieved and I am disappointed that after 7 games we are 2nd to last.

However, at this time last year, we had delivered up football that was painful to watch and Terry had to intervene to sort it out. Since then we have recruited well (jury's out on Diego and hasn't met on Chen) with Greenacre and Ifill. We have also played good football in patches / halves but we have yet to put together a 90 minute performance.

We have all but addressed the early season problem of conceding soft goals by being more aggressive to the ball and significantly tightening up the marking. The problem remains we are missing too many good chances. We are getting the "wrong" players in scoring positions - Greenacre is running his bollocks off dragging defenders and creating space and Ifill and Leo are  running their bollocks off creating chances. We need Greeancre and Ifill to be the players on the end of the chances. Starting from the back I'd like to see Manny and Lochhead push forward more (Lochhead did on Sunday) I also want to see the rest of our midfield up their workrate and go forward more so we free up Greeacre and Ifill to get in scoring positions.

6th or better gets us in the playoffs.

4th or better gets us a home playoff game.

So yes I am disappointed we are delivering below our potential but I also believe we have the potential to make the playoffs.

I think that the 9th is a poor refection on an unlucky Phoenix team so far.

Nix 2-3 Newcastle - that was a game they deserved to lose.
Nix 2-1 Perth - Indeed had luck on their side there.
Nix 1-1 Brisbane - Had a very good second half and allmost won
Nix 0-2 Sydney - poor performance there
Nix 1-1 Adelaide - robbed of a win by poor refereeing
Nix 1-1 Melbourne - draw right result
Nix 1-1 Nth Queensland - even if they finished averagely they would have won that game

so the phoenix should have
Won 3
Drawn 2
Lost 2
That equals 11 points.

If the phoenix win tommorrow they can go up to fith on the ladder - depending on other games.
if they draw they will only go to 7th max

Very debatable that a draw was a fair result for the Nix/Victory game. We dominated them in terms of chances, jus couldnt put the bloody thing in the net. You could argue that we didnt deserve to win cos of our poor finishing but we certainly dominated them and shud of had the three points

Home wins would see a 7 point spread down to a 4 point spread. Why would that make you inconsolable?

Nix winning the last three that they should have put away and having 6 more points : Priceless

I am still an optimist about this season because we are playing well enough in patches and have been despirately unlucky not to have at least another 4 points. Also we have recruited some very good players....

Football is a funny game....sometimes lots of effort goes unrewarded and then suddenly you get a game where you score a couple of early goals....the confidence soars and the season suddenly gets better. I am sure the phoenix are nearly there

Melbourne has sort of had this happen just recently. Hopefully we can do it this week, then knock off GCU, NQF and get us up there

We.

Need.

Goals.

(And more than whoever we're playing).

(kinda now, y'know... yeah, yeah... long season.... blah blah... bollocks. The gap is there now - we're the wrong side of it).
