"The thinking is now whether we go for three top strikers," Pignata said.

"We're probably heading that way, if they settle in, and we can fit them inside the salary cap."

Not looking too good for Krishna or Corrales tho'

Everbody's job is to scour wikipedia to find every Lithuanian in the country aged 28 who plays football.  I must know.

Yeah..go the  euro strikers...and Lithuania are doing very well at the moment in World Cup qualifiers..even if this person isnt in the National team.  I would take a proven overseas scorer even for one season..success breeds success so lets get on a roll with Greenacre and  2 others and let the 10/11 season sort itself out once we have got to 09/10 playoffs on the basis of three top class 6 foot plus strikers.

Roll on next weeks trial...least he will be acclimatised to the cold and rain.  I will wear my lithuanian mountainbike team shirt!

Also his last NT appearance was in 2008, as opposed to 2007.

I'm all of a sudden feeling a lot more positive about our striking department this season.  I'm assuming that these two players are keen to sign for us and it's only a matter of whether we want them or not?  I'm really wanting to know, if not the identity, at least the nation from which the other player comes.  All we need now is one or two classy midfielders and we could be set.

Fingers crossed on the strikers. I agree we do need a bit more skill in the midfield. I'd hate to think we get good strikers only to chase long balls all day because our midfield lacks

Can not agree more. If we could sign one of these strikers, a class midfielder and LB/ CB  we would be well placed to make the placeoffs and beyond. And move some dead wood.....

7 goals in 11 appearances isn't to be sneezed at.

Yeah! Total career 132 games for 56 goals which is 0.42 goals per game.Which is fairly decent! Not sure what the standard is but the International goals/per game is fantastic.....unless he got 7 in one game agains the Faroe islands!!!!!!!!

I'd be happy with 3 strikers of proven quality on the books! That would be great.

If you then look at the rest of the attacking force: Daniel, Costa, Hearfield, Leo, Diego (and Tim Brown- he seems to bang them in!) Lia?

hopefully the communication works out as well as the Bertos Smeltz interchange prior to Costa's goal against Adelaide.

Do need another good CB/DM IMO and possibly a player to challenge for the RB/LB position. Mulligan isn't that player. Is Lia? Where does he fit it..

anyway good news, hope the guys work out!

You can save yourself the bother by looking up the Heart of Midlothian squads over the past 4 years - I think every Lithuanian footballer has player for them at one time.

Yeah, their trial went for long enough so it's not like you can argue that they didnt have enough time.
