Don't want to moan but there seems to be SFA info coming out of the club regarding the practice games. Just been on the phoenix's official site and could not find anything.

Contrast that with the Gold Coast site where they have all the practice games listed. There are about seven games coming up June/July and every game has got time, date. opposition and address where the game is.

Good point will fix it tomorrow. Next game is at Poriura Park 7pm on Wednesday 3rd June and then the 10th of June. Training will be at Newtown tomorrow at 10.30am.

"I want to see football outside Europe and this is my first time outside Europe, for me it's different," Astrauskas said. "I spoke with my manager and he said just to try in the Australian league. He said good level. If the team wants me to stay here, I will stay."

"I'm strong, I'm fast, I'm good playing with head," he said. "Technique not very, very good but for me, I'm very fast. I'm fastest player in Lithuania and I'm strong."

if he is as good as he says then i very much like what i see... should go well with a goal poacher like greenacre

Its early days but this guy could be quite useful. He certainly looks quick from the youtube clip. He has scored a heap of goals in his career. If he settles in well him and Greenie could be a real good striking pair. Astrauskas would be the target man...holding the ball up, good in the air, creating chances ......Greenie is more the in the box poacher. Could be a very nice combo!!!!!

From all accounts our other two trialling strikers didn't set the world on fire, so if he shows something he'll be it. Depends on the other trialist I guess. It seems to be between the two.

Good point that Zinidane.
It would be good to see these games publicised a bit more.Without the pre-season build-up we had in the last two seasons it seems really low key this time round.Still 2 months to go until the first home game.I guess we will see a real step-up in publicity once the Confederations Cup is over and Ricki and the full team is back here.

If you were trialling a load of different players would you advertise the fact to the world? All clubs are seeking an advantage for the coming season and if it means we have to be a little bit secretive to get the right players then so be it!

Keep in mind the Gold Coast are a brand new outfit looking to maximise their exposure to potential new fans. How would you feel if we spent all the money trialling players only for other clubs to offer them contracts based on the trials theyve had with us?

Please call him Greenacre to save confusion!

You might confuse people into thinking that Astrauskas is here to form a "Strike Partnership" with Feverish on Courntney Place!

Or both, if they both impress. Krishna and Corrales are the fall back options now I think.

He's not the worst finisher either based on todays training.

Other notes on todays training:
Diego back in work after nose surgery.
Manny away (maybe Malta ?), no Ferrante.
Fever scholarship winner Marco Rojas stitching up Vinnie Lia quite a few times.
Ian Hogg, ickle Mikey Eager, Tim (maybe Myers ?), U-17 keeper (Coey Turpia ?). Plus a couple of other youngsters (maybe Coll lads ?).

Love Trani's coaching, much more hands on, not afraid to pause a session to discuss roles and runs with players.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Considering the importance of his role in the success of the team this year, yes.
A lot more to signing a player than watching abit of a kick around.
Maybe tomorrow, .

With the comparison to Rukavitsya, we could have a very similar combo of Perth last year with the these two. Hopefully Astrauskas will be better than Nikita.

I think we have a winner on our hands and sign him up if he fits in the cap because even impact off the bench, pace can really be a big advantage in this league.

Yep that's Coey. Played with him at school, glad to see he's still going well. He was always a classy 'keeper, very sure of himself - especially after scoring from a goal kick drop kick at nationals once. Would. Not. Shut. Up.

It's illegal to score a goal directly from a goal kick. So either your ref didn't know the laws of the game as well as he should have, or he scored from a punt/drop kick.

No. A goal-kick is a re-start of the game after the ball had gone out of play over the goal line, but not into the goal. A drop-kick/punt is a simple continuation of general play without the ball having gone out of play.
