"The Lithuanian player, who played for the national team till two years ago, should be in Wellington to train from Monday, but Pignata did not want to name him till he was on the plane."
"The Lithuanian is understood to be a tall, quick, and agile player who has been recommended to the Phoenix by coaches who have coached against him."
"Another player from continental Europe is expected in the capital next month."

the press release said he played for Lithiunian up to two years ago. More likely to be Jankauskas...he last played sept 07. The other guy played oct 08, which is only six months ago.
Jankauskas would be handy. Tall ,1.93m which is exactly what we are looking for. 34 is getting on a bit but there are lots of older players still playing very well in Europe. Any one who has scored 19 goals in 64 games for Porta is no slouch. With less games here in the A-league an older player like him should go the distance.

The age was what made me think it was him. Hell, at least he's not late 30's.
He's a robust looking chap so hopefully not too breaky
He looks big, though. And old. But so is Dadi, and he has done well.

They are better than the All Whites, not just acording to the rankings.
I hear Wayne Rooney was set to come here on trial but he missed his plane.

I think we've had the discussion a million times that we need to be realistic about who we can get. With our current situation something is better than nothing (better than Krishna/Corrales too).

Within the cap, willing to come to the A-League... it's not like we have an open cheque book, you have to cut your cloth to suit in the A-League.
He's pretty much the same age as Fowler and no one has claimed he is too old.

We did... he's now playing for GCU.

I agree it's important to get true club players who'll stick around for a few years. This striker situation is pretty dire though

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Will be here Saturday morning flying out today.
