Just read this from random poster on 442. Did anyone else hear this interview and can confirm this was said? (Or confirm it's made up bollcks?)
I like what his dad said on Pacific Radio today " Marcos best interests is in club football, He wont be playing any micky mouse friendly's for any nation this year". When ask if Marco would link up with the All Whites with games against China and Japan.
If this quote is true then Ferk me........Mr Rojas has way to much say on whats going down with his son....FFS he is not managing Lionel Messi. His boy is a promising youngster with 10 A-League starts.

He has to remember that for every footballer superstar there are 1000's of players who were promising  youngsters and never made it . If his Dad is starting to make these statements you would have to question his judgement......you would also have to ask yourself how much imput Marcos is having in all this and how much of it is his Dads doing.

Sounds alot like the whole 'father living through the son' kind of deal to me.

Exactly what I was just about to post. "I couldn't do it, so I'll live it through my boy". Sounds very much like it.

As for "We appreciate everything they did. The opportunity they gave him was massive," he said. "Hopefully they understand." How can we understand? Apart from some horsesh*t about his boy thinking he's an attacking central midfielder, there have been no statements explaining why he's going. I realise they don't have to explain themselves but, until they do, his reasons for going are a mystery.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I've got to know Rodi pretty well over the last couple of years.  News knows him too.

He's a genuinely decent guy, who knows the game, and has his son's best interests at heart.

I am also familiar with the work of some of the A-League's leading "agents".  The same cannot be said of them.  They are neither decent, knowledgable nor interested in their players.

If you think Rodi is a bad man for helping his 19 year old son make life-changing career decisions then I think you are bonkers.  He is doing exactly what all parents would do, giving their son their advice, and then the support to make his own decision.  Like News does when he helps junior news choose between KFC and Burger King.

Rodi is not playing subbuteo with Marco (although Marco IS small enough) and it's insulting to Marco to suggest he's so easily controlled.  He's a sharp kid, who is more than capable of making his own decisions.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I was more saying I'm annoyed that we are hearing so much from him, rather than hearing the words out of Marco's mouth.

The one comment that has directly annoyed me though is the alleged one of him saying he doesnt want marco playing for NZ this coming year. Atleast hes a neutral when it comes to representing a country internationally, he is Chilean after all

But the big thing is that so much wild speculation is being thrown around because Rodi/Marco have not actually fronted up with any convincing reasons why the Tards will be better for Marco than the Nix. So that leaves the field open for wild accusations - "Rodi is using Marco to fulfil his dreams", "Rodi knows some terrible thing about the Nix's finances we don't", "Rodi hates Ricki", etc etc.

All joking about GOOFY TIME aside, I'm sure that Rodi has Marco's best interests in mind, but his media/communication skills are pretty sh&thouse.

Well, if he is going to the Tards, it's just getting him accustomed to how his new fans will treat him if he's anything less than 105% perfect.

Yeah, "mickey mouse friendlies" was a poor choice of words for Rodi, especially when NZF are putting a lot of effort into these games.

And do Chile play mickey mouse friendlies, or just us?

I know, but for those of us who don't know them personally or don't know the whole story, Rodi's quotes don't make him sound very good. That's all I'm saying.

I am kinda reminded of the quote, "We hate you so much, because we loved you so much" apparently said by Barcelona fans displayed upon Luis Figos return after his transfer to Real Madrid.

My son said something similar when he learned of the transfer "f**** a****, what a d****."

Hey you bastards I'm still here.

Sorry if this has already been posted.
Radiosport interviewed Eddie Merrick and Rodi separately a short time ago.
They both categorically denied that anything had been signed.Merrick came across well and quite professionally.
Rodi also denied that anything had been signed. Was honest enough to admit they were looking at 2 A league clubs as well as somewhere overseas . Aslo stated that Victory was probably slightly ahead at this stage. He expected that something may be signed sometimE this week or early next week.
He was asked whether Phoenix had treated Marco well- he was lukewarm about that.
Also , he hinted that he understood the reaction of the fans but was less impressed with other people's reaction- didn't get any more specific than that.
Nothing signed yet-from both Merrick and Rodi.

If Marco goes overseas, then he's still my pretend boy toy. Rodi surely must understand, though, that Marco going to another A-League club would be a giant SCREW YOU HIPPIES to all of us Nix tragics and we are taking it accordingly.

Havent you suggested previously that such a scenario would be a bit off as, and i quote, youre "old enough to be his mother"?

Funny that, a certain rotund, doughnut eating YF member has been saying exactly that to anybody who'd listen for the last 24 hours!

Media? It wasn't the media that came up with the comment from the club.

Can someone take around some baking or something to Marco's house to change his mind?

Most people would rather have Rojas than Lia though. In fact i think any A-League club would.
