Just want to point something out. Slater just said: "if the ball touched Rufer's hand, intentionally or not, it's not going to stand".
So what about last week?

It's weird how the commentators have the exact opposite argument for the handball this week as last week.

Intent mattered last week, it didnt matter tonight?

Slater was adamant it should've been a handball last match.

Isn't it a rule now that it's not handball if it comes off you onto your hand/arm? That's what seemed to happen on the replay.

Isn't it the fact it hit his body then his arm but his arm wasn't in an unnatural position because of course he was supporting his weight. Definitely not as bad as one last week which was clearer and ruled out.

Would the commentators please shut the F up about 'phase of play' which as far as I know they have just made up as a strawman, and are now tearing down.

From what I read of the law, the only automatic handball on the offending team is when the attacker
  • scores in the opponents’ goal directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper
As in Ball's goal last week.  Otherwise intentional, natural position etc... all applies as normal.

Why are the commentators obsessed with the assumed "phase of play" rule?
The rule is if a player's arm is there to break their fall it's not hand ball

I'd love to play bozza back what he said last week about there obviously being no intent and therefore no pen. Imbecile

I reckon that's handball. But if we're going off of last week then that has to stand. Ideally I'd rather both handballs were awarded honestly.

The emergence of Sail to make this #1 spot his own these past several weeks just warms my heart. Great save!

Good half. Not too pretty but we've been effective. Rufer started off sloppy and lost Kruse several times but then he tightened things up. McGarry (who has a tough customer in McManaman) and Lewis have made too many mistakes and I wonder if they will be subbed early in the second half. Sail made 2 outstanding saves. On a bad night it's 2-2!
Hemed has actually been pretty quiet but I'm getting the feeling he's that kind of a player. Not very showy but scores when it matters.
Hope Reno hadn't done his Achilles (looked that way when he fell down heavily earlier)

Time to rebrand to Newsmax tbh- they ask Roux about "Alex Rufer's handball "

Though we lacked intensity and were lucky not to concede. Lucky to be 2-0 up. Definitely room for improvement.
Really hope we don't sit back now and try to defend like in the last game.
I'd bring on Devlin to give us a bit more energy. Rest Piscopo who looks injured and move Lewis up field.

Some VAR luck at last.
That was a lovely first goal. Piscopo keeps this up, some Euro clubs will start sniffing around and Nix will get a nice return on paying their first transfer fee.
Sail 2 quality saves, esp the 2nd one.

I thought there was a rule if it comes off the body and hits the hand its not hand ball. That's what it looked like to me.

If that goal wasn't allowed would that have also stopped the penalty Traore gave away just before it?

Seems they were going on about the 'phase of play' rule because that's why decision of handball or not couldn't be ruled on by VAR.
I didn't realise this either.
