Why are the commentators obsessed with the assumed "phase of play" rule?
The rule is if a player's arm is there to break their fall it's not hand ball

I'd love to play bozza back what he said last week about there obviously being no intent and therefore no pen. Imbecile
Seems they were going on about the 'phase of play' rule because that's why decision of handball or not couldn't be ruled on by VAR.
I didn't realise this either.
that's what Bozza said but not necessarily the right interpretation.

Some VAR luck at last.
That was a lovely first goal. Piscopo keeps this up, some Euro clubs will start sniffing around and Nix will get a nice return on paying their first transfer fee.
Sail 2 quality saves, esp the 2nd one.
We sold McKain, Singh and Cacace for $$$
Referring to Nix paying a fee to sign Piscopo.

is that actually a rule now?
 From BBC

"So should a penalty be given every time the ball hits a player's hand in the area?

No. The exceptions are if the ball hits a player's arm directly from the player's own head or body and if a player is falling and their arm is between themselves and the ground for support."

If harps and bozza were commenting any other Australian a league team beating victory 2-0 they wouldn't be able to get their hands out of their pants they would be so excited. They would support fecal matter over us.

McGarry - Superb assist!
What a pickup he's been, quick, good feet and an eye for getting forward. That was a great turn to set up Davila.

Cracking win, worth staying up for.

Cracking win indeed.

Davila such good vision and awareness, always driving us forward.

McGarry, well he's been a find for us this year - what's that his 3rd or 4th assist? A great outlet down the left. Almost got his first goal for us too early in the 2nd half.

Hemed is coming into some form, should've had a double tonight, but he's still got 3 on the trot.

Happy Lewis got his first goal for the club, thought he deserved it tonight - he too could've had a double if it wasn't for the woodwork.

Ball as sturdy and reliable as ever, he had a few half chances too which he may look back on, but still gets on the score sheet.

Sail, well I think it's safe to say he's nailed down that # 1 spot

And finally Taylor - class player, just the kind of quality we need to right the ship at the back and hopefully off the back of that, set's us a sound defensive platform to allow the creative players ahead of him to do the business and push us up towards that Top 6.

Just my views, but a great team performance also. That, and it's always nice to put the boot in to the Victree!

Good result for us but am a bit annoyed about that goal.  Shouldn't have happened.  That aside great game.

Given how the scoring was being shared around tonight, I felt that if we had been awarded that pen, Rufer would have stepped up, just as he might have last game if not for the dickhead VAR officials.

Oh yeah, can someone please please please "take out" Harper, Bosnich and especially Slater.  I'll happily take Peacock, McBreen, Thompson and Rushton over those 3.

I watched the game while at work and or though i predicted a win with my jinx the truth has to be said, Victory were woeful and looked like headless chickens at times there in the match and the Nixs really just cruised through the whole game.
Anyway well done boys we are in 8th place!!!

Good win and a great overall team performance. Nice to see Taylor slot right back into the team like he never left.
Victory totally gave up in the last 20-30 min and looked a bit like a training game for us. That team is busted deserve the wooden spoon.

Just want to point something out. Slater just said: "if the ball touched Rufer's hand, intentionally or not, it's not going to stand".
So what about last week?

I think his angle was that a goal resulted directly from the handball, which it did not. The ball touched the hand, accidently, Rufer was not making himself unnaturally larger with his arm, and then there were two more touches (phases) before the goal was scored. As Uffie said when it was being reviewed if the goal is wiped we'll take the penalty.

Goal all day, glad to see the rules were applied correctly this time.

so happy to see the lads click so well last night too. Hemed looked super dangerous and as predicted now that he has found his feet in the team and gfot his legs back he is proving to be a goal scoring threat. Long may it continue. Also really good to see Ball scoring too, his tenacity and effort had to be reqarded, Davila was brilliant, Piscopo is looking really good. The Lewis/Rufer combo seems to be favoured at the moment and I quite like it, Lewis is doing a great job sitting deeper. Taylor was his usual self in D and we looked better for having him there, shame for McGing but he is young and will hopefully learn from the master.

Wasn't able to watch much of the second half, but I really enjoyed what I saw of the first and second. Really good team performance, and looked relatively comfortable with Victory having the ball in the first 20 or so. Excellent saves from Sail again and I'm pleased Hemed is firing now. 3 on the bounce, that's what we want from an import striker! Shame about him missing the open goal, but was the ball slightly behind him? Great to see Taylor back, it really was like he never left, and even had a big hand in the second goal. Onwards and upwards. And I do love the red kit.

On Hemed's second chance I think the defender got a flick that he didn't have time to adjust for.

Damn confident finish on the first one. Glad he's now had a chance to prove himself and show that many fans jumped the gun on what he can bring for us, especially since that match fitness still isn't quite there.

Did Taylor and Hemed ever come up against each other in the EPL?

From a look back on their careers, they were both in the Championship in the 16/17 season, when Taylor was at Ipswich and Hemed was at Brighton.

Transfermarkt says that Taylor wasn't in the matchday squad when they played each other, although Hemed did score in a 1-1 draw.

Woo woo!
Still we're well behind on the table and the games in hand.
Pity about the goal and pen not given, we need all the help we can get.
We need an amazing run to get anything from this season. It's also a worry how Kruse was able to get in between the lines.
How many more games have we got?

4 points outside the 6 with 12 games to be played. Not sure the doom and gloom is justified, especially considering the quality of the last ~4 performances and the fact that the teams between us and the 6 have either played 1 less game or the same amount.

I'd be disappointed if we didn't make the finals from where we're currently sitting.
