Absolute must win game.

Bring in Taylor!
Also, who's going to be on the whistle? (I feel that's almost as important to know as who's in our starting line up of late...)

On the plus side, if we beat them, do you reckon Brebner would get the sack? That would bring a smile to my face.

Won't know the Ref until probably Tuesday.

This game also marks the start of a 4 game home stand. Gotta get 10-12 points at least from it, if we wanna challenge for the Top 6.

I am happy for Brebner to stay on for a while.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

This should be a good one. I feel we are the better team, but at a disadvantage due to playing in the weekend and Melbourne C (not a typo) having their game postponed. Will be interesting to see if Taylor gets any game time.

From the Sydney Morning Herald just before... Just a little bit of 🌧️ expected in the South Coast  area then.

Could have further implications for the Victory game, very much a case of watch this space.

Yeah pretty much this will be the GO after Victory beat us again. Brebner will keep his job with a sweat 3-1 win over us. We are never gonna get to the top 6 at this rate, thx goodness Taylor comes back after this game.

No time for fudgeing about with this fixture, really need 3 points.  I'm still not over the weekend tbh and Voerman's article was just plain ridiculous.
Anyway, hopefully we see the return of Taylor at some point during this game?  In theory if he's coming on it'll be to shore things up so would be a positive.  We're definitely good enough, but we all thought that last time too. Concentration and no fudgeing about please. We need to be more clinical again, that was our biggest downfall on the weekend.

Confirmed by Uffie that Stevie T is gonna start.

Curious to see if McGing, Payne or Fenton drops out, my preference is probably Fenton and Payne to RB as it stands.

Out of curiosity is Laws injured, or now completely out of favour?
TAHW on the bench for the Roar, game before against WSW was Laws.
But yes McGing has done well, so wouldn't surprise to see Fenton drop out.
Suddenly a bit of depth at the back, with Taylor to play, and DeVere can't be far away now.

Both Laws & TAHW could end up as fringe players. McGarry got dropped for a game for Laws at LB, but since that demotion has been playing really well.

at a guess I'd say Taylor will come in for McGing, tough on the young CB, who I think has done an ok job. I'd really like to see Payne and Taylor working together, means we can keep Fenton on at RB and McGing can come on as a sub for if needed.

The rainy conditions should suit us... Missed the last couple of games so really pumped for this one!

He's been pretty good the last few matches... Fenton has been average. As a few others have said I think Payne to right back, and McGing/Taylor in the middle seems likely.

I don't disagree that McGing has been good lately and Fenton has struggled, I certainly wouldn't be unhappy with the Taylor/McGing partnership. I just think Talay will want Payne as a ball playing defender as an CB option and use Taylor as the brick wall.

Interesting that earlier in the season, Talay said he like having a left footed CB, hence why Laws was being picked, to help play out from the back. But seems to have changed his view on that.

Coincided perhaps with slight tweak to some more direct football, hoofing a few more balls forward to Waine, and likely now Hemed.

VAR to send Taylor off as he takes to the field at kick off - Aussies trying to even the Victories chances up. They can't help themselves and over the last two seasons, they don't even bother trying to disguise it anymore. "It's my ball and we'll play by my rules" mentality.

It would be nice to get a fair and even crack at the Victory.

this is probably our best chance to really smash Victory - they are at an all time low and are there for the picking. I'm hopeful that we will take this chance but I'm expecting us to play Victory into form.

We smashed them 3-0 last year. Something similar would be great.

Fenton hasn't struggled, he's up and down that flank all day long. How many games have we lost since he's been back in the side, plus look at the positive effect he made earlier in the season when he came on with the team struggling in the limited minutes he was getting.

From memory Fenton was very average against VUC in Melbourne, but to be fair so was pretty much whole Nix side. Worst team performance season to date.

Taylor to man mark Gestede at set pieces, and hopefully McGarry can do a better job on  McManaman, than last time out.
They've got no Broxham or Gestede so we really should be winning this

With Taylor back and playing this will, must, be the start of 10 games winning streak.

McGing has been a machine for us at the back, i cant fault him from the last few games we had. He was pants but not really his fault last time we got smashed by Victory. I don't want to see him benched after doing well i think it could damage his confidence/mentality down the track. But hey that's football.

I think it will be McGing to drop out of the starting XI, but a tough call for Uffie. It will be interesting to see if Uffie wants Payne to go back to right back. Fenton has done well and offers more going forward I think.

Think Lewis has given him a left-footed play maker from deep which removes the urgency for a playmaking CB.

I'm with you on this one. I don't think we were very good with Payne (this season) at right back and look a far better team with Fenton there.

I think Fenton offers pace which we need to unlock Davila and Ball. But Payne might be better to send crosses to Hemed? Guess we'll see.

VAR to get Taylor sent off for shaking the refs hand prior to kick off and balance the teams 12 V 10 ;)

Pretty tough on whoever of Payne or McGing who gets replaced as both have played quite well recently. but at the same time, we are conceding way to easily so adding Taylor to the lineup is a must.

Just a random thought, I know Laws has dropped out of the picture a bit, but now that we have Taylor playing CB and plenty of cover, I wonder if we will ever see Laws at his more favoured DM position. Alongside Cammy or Lewis. I liked his passing range from out of the back so pairing him with Cammy could be the v2.0 of Cammy and Matti which worked so well last year.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

That’s been the weakest part of his game this season. That’s why I don’t think it should be him at right back.

Edit, talking about Payne, not Fenton. As I think your first point is spot on.

my expected starting lineup
                   Sail
Fenton Payne Taylor McGarry
              Rufer    Lewis
Davila                             Piscopo
             Ball            Hemed

I'm surprised by the praise that McGing is getting. He hasn't been terrible but I think he's a clearly step down on Payne. He's not great on the ball, and seems to lose his marker quite often, and despite being a giraffe doesn't seem to win many headers at all.

Looking forward to this one.

Will be tuning in from the very same factory floor that witnessed me throwing tools, bashing my work bench and generally just raging out after our WSW defeat...

Here's hoping it doesn't come to that again 😬

COYN!

I think Payne and Taylor in the middle would be a beast partnership.
Was particularly disappointed with McGing against WSW mainly not cutting out the cross for their first goal. Just seems to switch off a little bit at times

If we lose again while I'm at work, I'm going to blame my work for our horrible record in midweek matches this season.

Oxford Dictionary: "to royz", verb, infinitive, perhaps even infinite, describing a cautious anti-jinxing action while at the same time knowing fully well we gonna kick the living sh*t out of them.
