It makes me laugh a lot, bloody brilliant.

Should we at least have some sort of banner before our first game in 2 weeks (excite!) to show solidarity and that we don't approve of the changes?

Even if they are easy enough on us.

There's plenty of other video tutorials and stuff as well. I found a really good St. George Illawarra fan's banner making step by step guide a couple of years ago. Still trying to find it again...

Sorry, I should clarify that I meant the big banner at the start of the game if possible. I'm happy to help out with that if need be.

I don't think we should make any militant political statements on that.

Just some sort of clever showing of disapproval. 

A smaller banner just shows one person doesn't like the changes, I think we need to show that Yellow Fever don't like the changes. 

I imagine most other supporter groups will be doing something similar. 

Why not make use of the big banner for something more meaningful than "good to be back"?

If we could think of something to say that got the message across then I'd be more interested but so far nobody has come up with anything.

The test has to be "will people watching it on tv or in the crowd understand it".

If the answer is no, then what's the point...all it will do if we get that wrong is wind up the FFA/Club for zero reason.

To test this assumption I have reached out to the other fan groups to see what they're planning.

My guess is that they'll (rightly) be focused on supporting their team.

Fair enough. Definitely keen to see what others think. It's something I think we should do, but if I'm the minority then that's fine. 

I think it'd be clear enough to the club that we aren't winding them up about this. In the same way as giving names of ex-players when buying tickets isn't winding them up. I think you did a good job smithy of making sure they knew that in your communications with the club over all of this (thanks for that by the way). 

It does need to be a clear (also preferably clever and in good taste - ie not "fu*k the FFA etc) message. I bought the idea up in the hope that someone would come up with something appropriate that would fit on the banner, While trying to come up with something myself (not a strong point). Out of curiosity (and to help things along) what are the limitations of the banner in terms of letters and lines? 

I understand the position, and agree with it.

What I am unsure of is whether "We are fans, not criminals" ticks all of the boxes. I think it does. But I am not 100% sure that people watching on TV will understand it. But that is not because I think it is unclear, ambiguous, or off message, it is because I am not sure how much people watching it on TV will even be aware of this issue. And if that is the case I can't imagine there is anything that anyone could say that would pass this test...

, playing on the "Beautiful Game" line the A-League have been putting out. Something like "Fans Make This Beautiful" could be a goer, it's obvious what it means and isn't a direct attack on the FFA.

I'd be reluctant to refer to ourselves as beautiful. I mean, have you looked at us?

Yeah we'd only disprove our own banner if we end up with shirts off at 80 minutes. 

Cricket fans, means fans of cricket, right?

Additional info for anyone wanting to put things on our pullover banner there is a limit of letters and a limit of size.

News is the only one who knows exactly what letters we have.

Generally (iirc) you can get three lines of text on. And each line can be 5 or 6 letters. But we don't have that many letters anyway, so that is only a theoretical max.

Personally I would prefer we start the season of positively (yes, I'll go hug a tree now) but haven't got any suggestions at the moment.

"Fans Make this Beautiful" is positive, sticks to message, and plays on the FFA's own campaigning as well.

That is quite snappy, but won't fit on the pullover.

Could potentially get away with dropping the beautiful and making it 'Fans Make This'? Loses the play on FFA's marketing though.

"fans make football" is one letter shorter...probably still wouldn't fit though?

FFA watching: lol - they have a banner that says fans. Stupid Kiwis, we should kick them out of the league.

The one thing that would not happen: ha, those Fever fans are making a subtle protest at the FFA's increasing regulation of active support. Well played sirs.
