I'm really hoping so because I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw the video

They've got the geography wrong (Patrick478's work?) The Phoenix crest is over Auckland, not Wellington.

if we have to do that, why not wear all white? Black is a dreadful colour to play in, look up and spot a team mate in a fraction of a second. And its piss poor for spectators.

What I haven't seen is said video. Can we be pointed in the general direction of where to look for said kit video?

I think Sportsfreak explains it quite well in this article about why they would have gone black.

"Part of the terms & conditions around the contract extension last year was that the Phoenix needed to ensure the following of the Phoenix was more national."

"Given the desire to expand Phoenix support throughout New Zealand it does make sense that for those Home-Away-from-Home games there is a kit that Aucklanders, Tronites etc can identify with. The “All Blacks” reference mentioned above is not accidental and is pitched at the casual football fan. But remember, somehow, the All Whites often play in All Black themselves."

But we are not the All Blacks and play a different code. Next up, we have 45 million sheep in this country, make the jersies out of wool.

Ok, so we know you hate the #Metrics and the games out of Wellington, you've made that quite clear on the forums. But please tell me what you would do?

The owners were threaten with the Nix being kicked out of the league. They had an option given to them of trying to make it a NZ team and trying to increase membership and public support/TV viewership or possibly have no team.

While I agree with you, I'd rather have all games in Wellington etc, overall I'd still rather have a team. I don't hate rugby or the All Blacks and enjoy watching the odd game, so if we can use it (ADIDAS is also the All Blacks sponsor) then why not. Just like I don't mind watching rugby, hopefully we can appeal to the rugby fans that don't mind watching a bit of football and will support a NZ team against the Aussies.

Saw this, thought best NZ football related jersey ever full stop, went to the adidas link to buy it, saw the actual kit and had a wee cry :-(

I'll have to wait and see what the jersey looks like in person as from the video I still have no fudgeing idea if I like it.

at the moment Im thinking it looks a little tacky but the bit thats tacky is also appealing to the patriot in me so Im torn.

I don't like the shirt at all, but I have no problem at all with it being black. In case anyone's forgotten, our original shirt was predominately black.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

What would I do? A more concerted effort in building the Welling fan base. You may have noticed that the teams like Brisbane, CCM  even the NQF didn't have to take games on the road to build their core base. Here in Wellington we do have a core base of about 6k. Membership numbers are not a true reflection of the numbers that show up at the games. In fact seperating memberships from season tickets is something that gives false figures.

Whilst appreciating there are some fans in Auckland, there are fans all over the country. That said, we are the Wellington Phoenix. Whilst our population in the central Wellington area, the club themselves have proven that we have fans up to Palmerston North that travel down on a regular basis. Hawke Bay, Whanganui all represented. So I think the club need to work on the greater Wellington region. The preseason games at Weka are a good start and a positive move. The Nelson game is another. I do appreciate that there would not be many from Nelson that would be able to afford coming over for games very often.

This is our tenth season. The Novelty factor must have expired by now. The brand is out there and is common knowledge. So the question becomes how do we get people into the ground. Ticket prices are good. ST prices are pretty good and the $10 deals they did late in the season were a good idea.

I want to throw an idea out there that actually involves the entire A League, just to see what you all think. We have all been aware that over the whole Christmas period Wellington empties out. I wonder if the similar happens over in Australia with the holidays etc. If this is true for them too, would it be worth moving the A League season to the middle of the Calendar year. After all, football is a winter sport.

Now back to this proposed jersey. One with all the names of the players that have played a competitive A League game for us. Whilst I like that idea, instead of on a black top, why not do like that Fever tee and be on a yellow? And just as a light hearted thought, if our sponsor wanted to come to the party and allow us to replace their logo with 10 candles in it's place. I suggested something a bit more colourful and with Wellington colours being yellow & black, I appreciate the situation.

All the TV money relies on summer football.  Fox wants something to hold subscriptions over the summer period with no AFL and NRL.  There would be no value if the A League was competing with AFL NFL over the entire winter.

We have to make decisions, but they dont have to involve Black, which is piss poor by any standards. White would have made much more sense

Other than the fact that this kit is the anniversary of a time when our strip was black. So, actually, black makes much more sense.

It was always going to be a black kit to commemorate our first home kit in the A-League.

That has nothing to do with the metrics.

Yellow and Black are the Phoenix colours. So Black 10th year anniversary makes sense. And I think players look bad ass in black. I'll buy it.

I agree about the black looking badass and has been the traditional colour (with grey and yellow thrown in) of pro football in NZ but this shirt looks pants.  I'll pass thanks and keep my ££$$ for that Milan inspired kit if Adidas ever decides to use it on us.

$84 ones now back to full price. I snagged a grey away shirt cheap last night.

$69 short and long sleeved versions of last season's home shirts still available.
