I think with Paston that although the 10 in front of him are shite and aren't making his job easy by any means, we still need a change.

He seems uninterested, almost depressed. With mossy maybe we would get a bit more confidence at the back with him barking orders around. Maybe it will resonate through the team and get them amped up?

Hell, at this point it has to be worth a shot?

Was that yellow card that Brockie got  his 5th? If so then that is another problem for the Roar game.

How? Often I barely notice him during games anyway.

Don't worry about blaming the owners after all they were the ones who saved the club, if people stop going to the games to "teach them a lesson" the Phoenix will be the next GC or North Queensland. It's time for a new manager, Ricky Herbert should concentrate on Rio 2014 instead of directing all the blame that he and the players deserve to the owners.

Where is Glen Moss? Past on has had some night mares this season, why not give a quality keeper like Moss a shot? Or is Ricky just too nice?

Oh ok... so what happens if the owners refuse to get rid of him?

I find it the same with Ricki - people see two shots of him sitting on the bench over the 90 minutes, and that clearly shows Ricki couldn't care.

Plus, our defenders don't go looking for the ball from the back.

Nope, because of Paston's lack of skill with the ball at his feet it totally inhibits the team trying to implement a possession based game. The 'keeper is the spare man at the back and is there to recycle possession when the defence or midfield are getting pressed and allow the team to maintain possession. Paston can't do this and doesn't want to do this.

But according to you Brockie is rubbish and we have better strikers in our squad anyway, so he won't be missed.

Right?

Three for me, and two for them.

Because Paston doesn't organise them to...

which is a massive part of it, loads of people talk about defence starting at the top, and our front men are shite at it, as are our midfielders, but when or defenders and keeper are crap at defending which given our goals conceeded this season noone can argue against, then something is wrong. I've pointed it out a number of times that the back four and Paston appear not to be talking. Paston last night seemed to be yelling a bit which is the norm, but there were times when the comms went down - and that's when we conceeded. My issue with Paston last night came down to his poor domination of his 6 yard box. I've always been taught/told that the 6 yard box is the keeper's area - he/she must own any ball coming into that space - last night two goals were scored from that area and both from crosses that ran through the area - both Paston should have touched/stopped he didn't get close and looked to blame a defender immediately.

I'm simply trying to point out that like a few of the team he seems to be well over this season and at 35ish well past his best.

I'm interested in the option on you sky decoder that hooks up to the Paston mic. How do I get that installed.

If you are talking about Ibini's first goal, Boxall was the one who let him run into the six yard box.

if you can't pick Paston's voice on the TV then you're not listening, and i agree boxall allowed Ibini into the 6 yard box but Paston should be doing better than the "effort" he put in last night.

He was the only player that stopped that being double figures FFS.  He does more work than any other keeper in the league because he's surrounded by a bunch of lazy fucks who have stopped caring.

My money is his 'error rate' would be equal with just about every other keeper in the league but his work rate would be significantly greater so he concedes more.

So you can hear every word he is saying?

The Hutchinson goal resulted from Manny diving in, not winning the ball, allowing Rose to get a free pass into the box and boxall not picking up the runners at the back post.

Of course he is going to have to make a save or two when we are under the pump that much for an entire game, most of the other 'keepers in the league you could say that if they would have played that game. And he hasn't made as many saves as other 'keepers in the league.

He still wasn't outstanding, and with him ceding possession to the opposition so much I'm not surprised it comes straight back at him.

My problem is that there were at least 8 players out there worse than him but without Lochy, he's next on the designated scapegoat list.

Why wasn`t Hogg at the back post instead of being in front of Boxall at the near post ??????

not every word no, but his voice is well clear over the game mics. I'm not targetting Paston as the only person at fault. but seeing your wanting to compare keepers lets go to the oppositions keeper - Ryan - has had to make the least saves this season, has had the most clean sheets this season. Why? because the mariners back four are an organised unit who work for each other and their keeper. Whilst we dopn't have the ebst back for in the world, we do have some pretty decent CB's and and RB who is leanring his trade and working well - mostly. I'll leave LB alone at this point. Eit way I'd wager that if you put Ryan in the nix goal we'd conceed a lot less and out back four would look a hell of a lot better - why? cos Ryan has his back four working well for him. Right now I don't think Dura and Paston are on the same page, I sometimes wonder if they are even in the same team meetings. There are too many defensive "errors" for me to believe that that definsiveuniot is working together on anything. The key thing in all of this rant is the work UNIT. There are 5/6 guys who are tasked with stopping the opposition scoring. At the moment we have 5/6 individuals blaming each other for each goal conceeded.

not scape goat, but I'm getting tired of him giving possession away. Paston is just one of the guys on my "don't come back next season" list.

I have mentioned this a few times in the past, but as Ricki was a very good defender at international level it does surprise me how poorly we defended last night especially from set  pieces.

Sure part of the keeper's jobs is to organise the back 5. But that applies to all of the back line.  it should be all of their jobs, so I'm not sure why you are signalling out Paston as the culprit.

Disagree with your Ryan assertion. Truth is that their defence is far superior and more consistent than ours. They have games  where opposition don't get a shot on target. With us, even in our best games, we do not get anywhere near that.
