friday night is a hard one for out of towners asked a few people today and they all said would be hard to get off work early to travel, so i may be a one man band as i am sure not missing a playoff game.
hopefully if they hit their bosses up this afternoon they might be right, need to leave as early as possible in case of car accidents or large amounts of traffic.

Depending where you are, it really can't be THAT hard to get to Wellington for an 8pm kick off, can it? And can it be THAT hard for people to finish 1-2 hours earlier on a Friday? Obviously not everyone works 9-5 but still. I find a lot of people in NZ seem to assume their employers won't have a bar of them getting away early or a day off at short notice, without actually asking the question!

Also, traffic coming INTO Wellington on a Friday evening won't be too bad at all? It's the opposite direction you'd have trouble with.

Lots of excuses as per usual. FYI, I have a flight booked to go to Auckland 25 minutes BEFORE kick off. It's a non-refundable one as well. I want to go to the game. Flight is getting canned, I will get a new flight. Simple. If people want to go, they will go.

Steve-o. You always talk about it like an individual though. Whereas a crowd is a group of people. Things like this put SOME people off. Therefore there will be less of a crowd.

Within the crowd there are people with different levels of 'wanting to go' and different breaking points as to when they won't go. It's not a simple matter of one person 'wanting to go badly enough, then they should make it' its a collective of people.

For example, if the game had of been on sunday, I probably couldn't have made it. I want to go, but my not wanting to skip work, outweighs my wanting to go to the nix.

But as a collective, more people probably could have made it on sunday rather than on friday.

Thats all people are saying.

the traffic can be sh*t on a friday mostly caused at the otaki roundabout have been stuck there several times in the past coming to games on a friday in wellington.

i agree with you on leaving work early that was why i got on to my mates today so they could give there bosses some notice but not all bosses are as nice as yours and it is not that easy for some people depending on their jobs as you seem to think.the other thing is they also work on a saturday morning so with game finishing at ten by the time you get out of stadium and into car maybe 10.30pm 3 hours home might be 1.30am not as easy as living in wellington to get to games so i feel some of their exuses may be valid, i however am coming with or without them.
travel time to wellington from home around three hours if you keep to speed limit and no road works or accidents so would have to leave i think 3.00pm at the latest to allow for any mishaps and have time to relax a little before kickoff.
my mates always have exuses as you say, they are not as football mad as me so need to pressure them to come most of the time.

Couldn't agree more. Sunday afternoon is when we get crowds. Many families won't be able to come on a Friday night, it us quite late for the little ones.

I agree re: the little ones, but i'll relish the opportunity to watch the Nix play without little f**kwits running around all night. The screams of children are what id imagine being knifed in the stomach to feel like
How many of these "little f**kwits" are there in the FZ?

Idiot.

I can demonstrate on you the comparison between children screaming and being knifed in the stomach if you like.

whats the FZ got to do with anything?

Plus the trip home.

But yeah if I had kids I'd probably make an exception. Its a special occasion. Don't expect everyone to have the same view though.

I like how we get the shortest turnaround between us and Perth, yet we may still finish in the better position of 3rd.

IT'S A CONSPIRACY!

We're going to win the league!

YF Zone is Silver, but still stupid that it is not listed specifically.

I can just imagine a few new fans getting seats in that area not realising it's a standing area - as happened last time.

You'd think every other club would have the same problem, so they'd actually make an effort to have a 'fan zone' of some sort.

Funny how their are no flights(at reasonable prices) from Dunedin Firday and returning Sunday. Does this mean bike southern chapter attendance, or just end os semesiter 1!

That is freaking awesome!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

I know - I had booked Sunday flights earlier this week, returning Monday for a very good $120, and flying up Friday just isnt going to work for me - too expensive and work as well - I thought a Sunday wopuld be better (for me anyway) so am going to have to flag it unfortunately  gutted,
