God knows there's players with impressive highlights reels who aren't as good as they seem (Carlos Hernandez, for instance. Brockie looks like ballon d'or material if you only looked at his top 10 goals)

And if course he might not even be our new striker!

Really his high light reel with us may not have been good. But you are kidding  if your suggesting  his time at Victory didnt include some impressive stuff.

I think you misunderstood me, I'm saying the opposite of what you're suggesting. His highlight reel looks good because he's the sort of player who has great technique and individual moments of brilliance, but the highlights reel will never show the other parts of his game where he's strolling about without possession, not marking, pressing or tracking runners.

Judging a player from a highlights video is not very accurate.

Ultimate example: Sery de Campos

Dunno if I'd call pav a "good" skinhead striker, maybe just a skinhead striker.

Taylor v Berisha is the only thing I’m looking forward to this season.

Berisha and Durante in the team huddle will make a good meme too.

I'm a Carlos apologist and still think he was better than most imports who have come to the club; but that's getting off topic..

I consider Krishna an import when he came to the club (well he was a visa player).

In that sense, Krishna is probably our best import ever.

Paul Ifill is head and shoulders above any other import we have had. He is also one of the most under rated imports in A-League history - he is right up there with the best

I'm worried we are gonna get smashed by WU because of our poor squad, Do you think we will use the Jan transfer window?.

I dont think we will be as poor as many are thinking and still confident we will sign another import before the season starts. Ufie did say he will look at how things are going in January and possibly sign someone else if needed

Uffie has said we are still negotating with a striker and should be confirmed by the end of the week but may not play against Western United. He also said we did not lose against Victory yesterday but both teams will not be revealing the score. Sounds like Davila is starting to play very well too

The front third for Western United are very ancient and as the season wears on they may struggle for legs - same for matches, they may start well but die in the second half.

Doom-and-gloom is a buzz, that's why. It tickles something in the brain that needs tickling.

there's always a good percentage chance a Phoenix season won't be the greatest ever, and with no Krishna and a whole bunch of new players there's guna be a few hiccups. But that's sport and it makes the decent seasons all the better.

Yea I personally don't have high expectations for this season, given the many young and relatively inexperienced players we signed. But you never know, it may all click and kick into gear. Just look what a young Ajax team achieved in the CL this year

Half of WU squad are so old they're senile, we have kids that will do them all for pace. The future is now old man!

Since the A-League's inception, older teams have generally done better than younger ones - I think WU will do pretty well; so too will Brisbane.

I feel like Perths squad is a better example of an older team going to do well, I reckon WU is gonna be more likely a miss than a hit.

I think we will use the window of opportunity down the middle of their defence, they're prone to errors there.

One of their CBs is old enough to have played in the Jets championship winning team.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Diamanti will be one of the best in league, I have no doubt - not sure about their aging defence though.

I think we will flog Western Bitumen Retirement FC at the Ring of Fire 3-0 or 4-0. We've been playing well pre-season and we've got some great signings in Davila, Steinmann, Piscopo and some good local talent in Cacace, Fenton and Waine... WUFC look old and slow. Think about the fact that Victory beat them 6-0.  We either beat or drew with the same Victory side... It tells me that we're much better than some of you dooms-dayers predict. Please leave your negativity at home when you come on the 13th. I'm looking forward to a great start to a new season and a developing squad with a great coach and heaps of room for development. C'mon you Nix! Have we got our Judas chants sorted???

Stop your messing around (ah-ah-ah)
Better think of your future (ah-ah-ah)
Time you straighten right out (ah-ah-ah)
Creating problems in town (ah-ah-ah)

A message to you, Rudy
A message to you

Stop your fooling around (ah-ah-ah)
Time you straighten right out (ah-ah-ah)
Better think of your future (ah-ah-ah)
Else you'll wind up in jail (ah-ah-ah)

Rudy
A message to you, Rudy
A message to you

Stop your messing around (ah-ah-ah)
Better think of your future (ah-ah-ah)
Time you straighten right out (ah-ah-ah)
Creating problems in town (ah-ah-ah)
