I hope so too.

Feel it'd be a bit of a waste if he stayed in Sweden slugging it out in a league that is below Handy level, and then considering the interest/moves for some of the other U20's boys - McCowatt and Waine signed to Nix, Singh to Bayern, Bell being offered a contract in Norway before turning it down to continue his studies, Stensness off to try his luck for a contract offshore, Just and Wilkins signing deals in Denmark (unfortunately before Helsingor were relegated) and then reported interest in Cacace too.

Just doesn't stack up if he stays over there at this stage, although I would also be happy if he bypassed the Nix for a move to a higher quality league.

So Cacace hasn't signed on for this season?

still on contract.  Turned down offers abroad... would love to know who from though.

Turned down offers? Isn’t it up to the club the player is contracted to who decides?

I doubt thr club would sell an 18 year old kid if he told them he's not ready for a move (which is what he did). Plus its in our interest to keep him for this season, so its sort of up to the player and the club

I think this from Phillip Rollo sums it up

Although he hinted at some murmurs of interest from overseas clubs in the wake of his stellar World Cup and made no secret of his desire to test himself in Europe in the future, Cacace said he doesn't actually have an agent and is in no rush to leave his boyhood club, where he has another year to run on his two-year contract.

And Cacace

"I'm in no rush [to leave], I'm only 18 and I'm just seeing what comes to me. If a club wants to approach me I'll think about it but also I'm still 18 and still have a lot of development in me. I'm happy being at the Phoenix for now. Obviously if you play well then some decent clubs come knocking but I've got no agent at the moment which is kind of difficult and some clubs have been chucked around at me ... but I'll be in Wellington at the end of the month and I'll be ready for pre-season."

Plus even if we accepted a bid he would be able to refuse it, the club and player have to agree on the move for it to happen.

If he doesn't want to be here then the club shouldn't hold him to ransom. I think him being stuck at the club for another year that hes is just being polite in interviews.

He's a Wellingtonian that grew up with the dream of playing for the nix, he's also just finished high school. There is no reason not to take what he says at face value.

Meh

Hardly set the world alight in League 2 level... considering the A League is considered equal to lower Championship teams this is a lititle underwhelming IMO.

It would be a bit more exciting if TeeDubs are trying to sign him.

It’s not Lonzo or Lamelo but I’ll take it.

Seems to have recently been playing as more of an attacking midfielder. Hopefully we can pull a big import striker

As I see it, the A-League is closer to League One than the Championship. It is like comparing Ifill to Greenacre, Ifill was a top player in the league because he was a Championship regular whilst Greenacre was a solid contributor coming from League One. I don't think the A-League has progressed further to think any different.

With all the guys the Roar recruited, we will have a pretty decent gauge of where the A-League is at after the season ends.

Could you imagine Amadi-Holloway ripping up the league and scoring 15-20 goals?

I think I'd feel a little insulted.

Hopefully it is Team Wellington. Is a similar level to where Nelson Suburbs got Ben Wright from.

Ben Wright was signed by Richmond Athletic first, not Suburbs. Agree he was never A-League quality though.

Unlike Davila, he's actually played and scored in a top flight game at Stamford Bridge! (Europa League for Viking)

You could look at Le Fondre as an example / comparison. Some would argue he is ripping up the A league with 16 goals in 27 games.

He had a pretty solid championship level career with some time spent in lower leagues. Similar to Ifill.

So you would expect League One players to be pretty solid performers at A league level. Would like to see the club aiming a bit higher than this for a striker tho, especially if they have the money that they were going to use on Roy still available.

If he's getting assists maybe he's being looked at to hold up the ball and have small strikers run off him. He seems solid but isn't going to be fighting for the golden boot and I doubt we'll be getting many goals out of midfield this year. Still League One (where he's spent most of his career) is a higher level than where players like O'Donovan came from.

So he was playing in League One for Bradford, lasf season, on loan from championship side Rotherham who he had played for the season before. So he actually hasn't played in League Two since 2014  where he played two seasons in fourth tier between 2012 and 2014. Since then it's been all League One. Still not stoked by the thought, but he's no Amadi-holloway either.

This is where I'm at with this rumour, he would be a solid addition but I would be hoping we could aim a bit higher with the amount of cap we have available.
