How can anyone get excited about steiny starting? For sure he is technically gifted and has ok vision... But u can't exactly play a through ball for him to run onto and u can forget about being on the edge of ur seat expecting him to slam it into the back of the net like a decent center forward. He is more static then a balloon after being rubbed between ifills legs

January transfer window soon opening. Yes! Let's see something buzzing 4 the New year, e.g.

                                                                          Doloras

Leo B                   Elle McPherson      Rosa Kleb        Ian Hogg

                                                                           Dotcom

                                                    Lady Gaga                            Emily Perkins

Kiera Knightley                      Louis Fenton                 Scarlett Johanssen

                                                                         Gin Wigmore

I back dotcom in front of the back 4 - no one will be able to go past him. Should he be unavailable, I'd try to sign Clive Palmer...

Nothing from Nix via their twitter about a game tomorrow.  Yet the away team have tweeted...  I don't get it.  How hard is it for them to do some effing promoting.

Oh wait let me take that back he tapped in from a yard out which was disallowed and then went missing for rest of the match until he was thankfully replaced for last 20 by totori which coincidentally is when we started raining shots. Stein=yawn

FFA and FIFA allowing us to have an extra outfielder? Brilliant.

Me and the young fella coming down tomorrow and will make a night of it. Haven't seen them live since the season opener. When I do watch them, I always wonder if this is the same team that many rag on here, I've never been disappointed with what I've seen, even if the results haven't always gone in our favor.

I third the knob nomination....
.Stein has got the highest goals scored to shot ratio in the A-League. Not his fault he's come from Div 1 Holland where midfielders know how to pass and regularly put people through on goal. OK he's big and bald and looks like a target so we pump high balls to him. If we had a half decent creative midfield that could pass to feet he would probably top the goals scored column. By the time our midfield lumbers the ball upfield and then it goes wide and then it is inaccurately pumped into the centre our central attacking guys are outnumbered two to one. Actually I'm not sure if Stein has the highest goal to shot ratio in the A-league...I just made it up to help my arguement!

all he needs is some more through balls like those he has scored from and we are away..upwards.  Dani take note plse.

If you head down the ramp towards the car park after the game the team entrance door is where they will come out after the game. You will see the wives/partners/families waiting for the players after their showers. They are more than happy to sign autographs for fans.

George Costanza  posted in the attendance thread you last crowd 5,961 ans did not even rate on television. http://www.throng.co.nz/2012/12/tv-ratings-22-december-2012/

Any idea on what crowd can be expected ... and are the low crowds and rating a worry...

Seeing as he's had 11 shots to 3 goals, I'd say he would be the highest for a striker. Not so sure it's such a good thing though.

You're right, him being deadly accurate with his shooting is awful.

In that five sandwich I think Fenton would be our hard man.

Prefer Daniel Craig at DM.  Dotcom effective but the judiciary process could slow the game down.

Heart would be short a few limbs and lives after their first attack, with only Craig red carded for us.  Seems viable tactic.

hmmmm

+1...so Boyd, Fenton and maybe "Leo leo.." bombing down wings and crossing to.............Brockie on his own?.  Aint going to work.  If it is Boyd and Brockie up front then it must be quick thru balls for Boyds pace or at best low hard crosses assuming they miss Hearts defenders. If I see any high crosses I will scream...........

yeah it often feels like we get the ball in a wide area, behind the oppostion defense, and then realise we dotn know what to do with it.

Its like our goal is to get it wide, rather than get our strikers on the ball in the middle.

The solution is pretty simple, but takes a big change of mentality. When you get the ball in these wide areas, your attacking midfielders and other wide support need to offer short passes to get the ball onto the edge or inside the box. Watched Rorar last night, and pretty much thats all they do.

Or alternatively, the winger needs to back himself and cut inside. Fenton & Boyd do seem to do this

Horrible, horrible timing for a game. Everyone who went away for XMas (bar a few of the faithfuls) will still be away for this game. It's a Thursday night so it's hardly enticing for anyone who happens to still be in the city. The 2 for 1 deal will pull in a few more fans, and I wouldn't be surprised if they count some of the extra unused tickets in the final attendance.

I'm hoping it will be one of the 'fun' nights in the Fever Zone, where we make our own fun due to the lack of numbers (like that game against Perth in the rain).

i do not like mid week games it is just such a hassle i have just finished work now started at 5 am have an hour or so to relax then off to round up my 4 passengers and then 2.5 hours drive to wellington get some food go to the game then another 2.5 hour drive home so will be home around 12.30 - 1.00 am then up at 4.00am to get ready for work. it is lucky i like football or i would not bother.

I guess the A-League thought that everybody would be on holiday for these midweek games, which is really not the case. Will be interesting to see what the crowds in Sydney and Perth tonight are like compared to ours.
