Other games; Jets v Victory (doesnt matter),  Sydney v Perth (anything but Sydney win) and Adelaide v Roar (Adelaide win).

Anyway you cut it a huge game on Friday whilst we dont want to be reckless we cant afford to be tentative we have to take the game to the Mariners and go for 3 points.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Yep a massive game to be sure, if we can pull off the kinds of shots we did on Saturday (Smeltz excluded :P) we've got a good chance of putting a few goals through - we had good accurate shots from Ferrante, McKain, Daniel and Bertos which is great to see, on another day those would/should have been goals.

Daniel to start definately, we were a different team when he came on - even if he can't last 90 min have Hearfield come on for impact.

If CCM win they could top the table, if we win we're well set for a finals assault in the final few games.

I heard from someone claiming to be a Nux employee last night, that Bertos has been playing injured all this season. Is it an excuse or a reality?

When is he going to be able to get over this injury, cos he was playing with injury last season?

One thing I found in Wellington, Bertos is extremely over rated. But for a local boy, its not hard to see why...

And Wellingtonians love Perth 10 times more than Sydneysiders..."heaps cool place to live" "I heard it is really awesome"

Rather than "worst away trip ever...the biggest hole ever".

I reckon you will beat Mariners 2-1.

You guys will play Daniel and I think it will make a lot of difference against the Mariners, your defence looks a hell of a lot better as well...

I think the crowd plays a big part in all the Nix games. Especially when they're attacking down "our" end in the 2nd half (and 2 times out of 3 we're in need of a goal anyway), you can really see how the guys give that extra 10% which often brings results..
I'm hoping for a more numerous crowd. To be honest every week I invite many people but some of them are just not interested. The other night, after the Perth game, I went to a work do and a lady saw my scarf and asked my who I support. I said "Phoenix" and she said: "is that rugby, football or what"?

I can't get my head around it.

That said, we need to be as noisy as possible. Last week we did a great effort. And I think we need more "we love you Smeltzy, Mossy etc" chants. And well done on calling for Daniel to be played. If during the 1st or 2nd half you hear a guy screaming "Danieeel Danieel" by himself, that's usually me.

We can win any game, especially at the RoF. Let's get behind the team.

Any news on Siggy?

I'm thinking a 1-0 win, and NZP you're right, we need to get people along and that means being proactive and telling people to get their arses down to the RoF.
I'm hoping we see buth Daniel and Troy in the line-up, something like this:

                                   Moss

                        Siggy              Dura
   Muscat                                                  Lochhead

                         McKain     Brown

                              Daniel
          Bertos                             Hearfield
                             Smeltz

Higgins
Ferrante
Christie
Barbarouses

I think that's nearly identical to what I posted last week.
You know we belong together...

valeo, you have a very valid point. I think it's not a coincidence that the two best players we have are leaving next year, i.e. Smeltzy and Mossy.
That said, We Love you Siggy, we do.
We love you Pasty, we do.
We love Daniel, we do. Or Danieeel Danieeel, or Bring on Daniel! Bring on Daniel!
We love you Jono we do!
et cetera.

Let's chant them on friday than. You start any of these chants and I'll be right behind you.

I think costa and drapes will either still be away with the under 20s or shartered from three games in six days, otherwise I would definitely have at least one of them on the bench. Given that:

                        Moss
Manny    siggy(Dodd if sigs injured). Durante. Locky
                  Brown.    Mckain
Ferrante.                                    Daniel
                  Smeltz. Leo

Bench
Higgins
Dodd/siggy/mully (depending on siggy's fitness)
Christie
Hearfield/Kwasnik (feel he deserves a second chance)

Going with the surprise look

Plodder in to surprise us all with his skill that he hasn't discovered yet
Covs back after recovering from his last game
Higgins starts cause he is a giant.
Mully gets a start to prove his worth
5 across the middle to crowd out the CCM attacking play
Bertos needs a rest
Daniel comes on in last 30 for Dodd to make it a 2-6-2

Im off to do this on FM and will psot what happens

I'm sure we won't have any problem getting a few of the more "prominent" members of Yellow Fever to chant that one .

Ferrante is a must for me, the only player we have with the ability to play the great ball across the park to switch play. To my mind he is the best passer we have, it is not much use having the pace of Bertos or Hearfield and not having a guy who will put the ball in the right place for them

Ferrante is the best passer in the team when he is on song which unfortunately is, imo, not that often. Too often he is invisible.

Only change from last week Daniel in for Hearfield.

On the bench Coveny or Draper (if he's back) in for Dodd.

As said before, I think Kwasnik deserves another chance, even if its on the bench. Muscat has been bad last 2 weeks, I think he should be dropped depending on Siggy's fitness.

I like the starting 11 but would have Kwasnik on the bench for Christie  - Kwasnik is due another shot and has proven he can score at this level - plus there is a psychological advantage to us with him getting a run - he was / is the Mariners top scorer.

We are at our best when we muscle up and attack at pace - the back six look very solid and Leo and Troy have good pace with Costa and Kwasnik to come on.

McKain and Hearfield can provide back four injury cover (we don't therefore need Dodd) - better to have 3 midfielders / strikers - a draw is bugger all use to us so we need to be in "attack mode".

He certainly has potential, he just needs to use it

See at the moment Ferrante is still a mystery to me as I don't think he has a true position.

He's not a classic midfielder and he plays a better long ball than a short ball game. I think he is better suited to a traditional right half role - not a winger, but a right half. He also doesn't have middle of the road games. He is either on or off.

His football style reminds me more of a David Beckham than anyone else because he plays that long ranging game from the right half position.

I like Ferrante and think that he's probably, in Fred or Daniel's absence, the most creative player in the team. Certainly in terms of his passing ability. I just have a problem with him playing wide rather in centre mid. I don't think it's a coincidence that while Ferrante's playing wide right in midfield, Muscat has been left exposed.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I honestly think that we have been playing with no real wingers for a few games now. We have been playing a 4-3-1-2/4-3-2-1 with Leo working hard to give width with the CM in McKain, Brown and Ferrante popping up where there is space when in possession and sit more centrally compressing the midfield when not in possession.

I am think that if Daniel is fit, Hearfield will drop to the bench. Basically lining up in a 4-3-2-1 that can switch to a 4-5-1 on defence or 4-3-3 on attack.

Cannot understand why you would swap Siggy from central defence to right back. Siggy has been a stand out in that position and is in my view first choice centre back at moment.

Muscat has been the best and most consistent right back to play for us in the club's short history and I was watching a different game from those who thought he was rubbish against Perth. Against Adelaide, well all 11 eleven were second best.

To cap it all let's move Siggy from centre back to right back where he was only moderate and bring in Dodd at centre back. The only purpose for this would be to accommodate Dodd and for those who thought Muscat had a bad game against Perth you must not have seen Dodd's performance where to be honest he looked like a bad central league player.

A back four of Lochead, Durrante, Siggy and Muscat is our best combination.
