Adelaide United FC has been dealt a blow ahead of its match with the Wellington Phoenix tonight at Hindmarsh Stadium, with attacking midfielder Mathew Leckie a late with withdrawal due to a knee injury.
Leckie overextended his knee at training yesterday and after monitoring the injury this morning, the clubs medical staff and Head Coach Rini Coolen decided the 19 year old would not take his place against the Phoenix.
The match was set to be Leckies first game back since returning from the AFC U-19 Championships with the Qantas Young Socceroos, but Reds fans will have to wait another week to see him in action again.
Coolen expects the injury to only keep the young gun out for just one game and that he should be available for Uniteds next game against Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium next Friday night.
Argentinean playmaker Marcos Flores is expected to start against Wellington after overcoming a hamstring injury.
