I know its not for a week but what do we have to do to beat these guys? They look very hot on attack, and although they have conceded 6 in the past two, they were up against very quality attack.

Similar line up to Perth game and expect Brown to come back in for Ferrante?

No would prefer no Brown. I no Ferante was average. But still Preference to Tim for me.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

Get King Leonidas to hold back the mighty Persian force of Tim Brown.

Seriously, if we play like we did in the first half then we could be in for another three points.

Think Brown will play if fit. McKain is terrific but he tires too quickly.

Will be a tough game - would be elated with a point tbh. Brisbane have looked sharp despite not winning yet.

whose better out of brown and mckain?

we cannot start Ferrante, he gives the ball away too easily, I think you'll find Brown and Mckain starting with Leo and Diego...can't see many changes.

Queenslander 3x a year.

McKain by a mile. Same line-up, except with maybe Lia or Brown in for Ferrante, that decision should probably be made based purely on how they train throughout the week. Would like to see Costa or maybe even Chen on the bench.

I'd go for Lia instead of Ferrante. If not then I'd have Ferrante over Brown just now. Tim will be back.
Maybe Lia needs to be at right back after Muscat got the runaround last night.

It's not really a contest between them - McKain is dead cert as a starter, and the other midfield position is up between Ferrante, Lia and Brown. And I'm with Royal on that.

I'm thinking it will be
                     Paston
Muscat   Durante  Sigmund  Lochhead
         McKain      Brown
                 Diego
Bertos      Greenacre      Ifill

Unless ricki reverts back to something more defensive, which I hope he doesn't. Lets create our own style of play that is attractive and dangerous.

I would like to see Lia starting though, maybe for Brown or even Muscat but dont think it will happen just yet

But you've gone back to more defensive by playing Brown with McKain and virtually the same as the first game, with exception of Diego

TBH, I think a lot of how we play will be dictated by the pitch.

We can play the attractive passing game at home 'cos we've got the best pitch in the league.
The week before against the Jets we weren't able to play our game 'cos the ground was rougher than a $2 hooker.

Trouble is we might struggle to find a decent track in Oz.

Thats the team id like as well. Would like to see costa or chen(if he is available) on the bench to give another attacking option.

Do you think we have a chance against Brisbane?  If we play like we did in the first half (after the first 10minutes) and can keep up the tempo for the whole game then we could snatch the three points.

It's going to take a way better effort than what we saw here as our form over in Aussie is suspect and we're playing a better side.

I'd prefer Lia at right back as I get a feeling that HN's son could give Muscat nightmares

Honestly, what's running through the Brisbane team, or is it because they have the same sister - mothers?

Far out.  Liam Reddy is grotesque.

sh*t  yeah we have a chance of taking the 3 points!!!  we should be gelling more and more each week. If our defence holds properly then we have a huge chance as our attackers are extremely dangerous. Brisbane are dying for a win so we will hopefully push them into making dumb mistakes.

Remember his first game last season where he got schooled by Dann Allsopp... he came back from that pretty strongly.

So you'd rather start Vinny there who played a couple of preseason games in defence before spending a season on his arse?

Yep. What's his injury got to do with it?

agree but beginning to have doubts over Muscat, 2 average games. the roar, despite results thus far will be stronger opposition than Perth or Jets

Ferrante will stay in the mix and play, we were all happy with how attacking we played, that has something to do with the fact he was there and Brown wasn't. He made one mistake which lead to a goal.

We had three of those last week and everyone begged for blood, same here. The goal aside, did he really play a bad game?? No.

Quality passer and links with our attackers well. Hell, had his shot gone in and not around the post i bet half of the detractors would be singing his praises, and all wrongs forgiven.

But it didnt go in, like so many of his shots. Seems to aim too wide, or high?

I am for letting Manny have a break for this one. 2 games where he hasnt been good enough.
I'd put Lia there instead. and have Hearfield on the bench as cover if needed.

Yeah, agreed. Thought he was very poor against Perth but he did come back from similar last season. Kruse has been largely anonymous these first couple of games too. Henrique, however, has been one of the best performing players in the comp and is the best new import so far (next to Ifill and Greenacre of course.) He absolutely tore Ward to shreds on Saturday.

I think Brisbane have been probably the 2nd best in the comp so far for me even though the results haven't shown it. They outplayed GC for much of the game but couldn't convert and they also outplayed Melbourne. I just hope that the Suncorp Curse is in full force on Sunday.

I'm not one for picking a starting line-up, but I would like to see Lia play.

I hope Brown isn't on the bench, I'd rather Ferrante/Lia be on the bench to cover McKain/Diego/Muscat for whatever change to the game we need to make.

All I can say is that if a 10 year old Brisbane player comes on in the last minute and scores a screamer against us again I will be pissed off. valeo2009-08-17 20:24:08

one mistake - correction four errors were made by him, only one lead to a goal, the other three we lost the ball in good attacking positions. sure Brown may not offer as much on attack but we do have other options in the midfield instead of either of those two.

Having seen all the teams twice, Brisbane are onr of the best. They lost to the Gold Coast but were the best team by a mile.
The Nix are a much better team than last year, but the temperature in Brisbane will be double what it was in Wellington on the weekend. As least 25., which for Kiwis at this time of the year is HOT.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

the heat will probably only really affect the poms as everyone else is used to playing those temps etc. will def need a replacement for striker as don't think Ifill will last the whole 90. otherwise diego/bertos/hearfield move up and push daniel to cover one of them?

How about...

              Paston
Lia   Siggy      McKain  Lochhead
                Ferrante
Hearfield   Diego     Bertos
            Ifill     Greenacre

Crowther
Durante
Costa
HN ( from what if been told , can cover two positions, just standing )

Seriously, if players don't get dropped wheres the squad competition?
Yeah it will be warmish, hot for some.  I hope the squads fit.
Looking forward to being there in the sun and another three points for the Nix

Who holds the midfield together? Need a more defensive mid. Not dropping players gives us stability, Costa on the bench and maybe Lia for Ferrante should be the only changes.

What do you think temperatures in England are like at this time of year?

And as an aside, it was 20 degrees here on Saturday...
