He stood and looked at him like he was just a brat and maybe he should let him have the ball. Wasn't great. He's been losing the ball a fair bit and doing what he normally does, watch them run away with it. Ferrante on the other hand will always chase and try to get it back. He did get it back a couple of times too.

Sound like you are very pro Ferrante and Anti Daniel.

Thought Daniel did well in this game mate and got an assist to a goal. Whereas Ferrante missed a chance. At the end of the day, Daniel had a better day than Ferrante than me.

In other weeks I can see that Daniel has played poorly, but then look back at Ferrante last week too.
Both have the ability and yet both have been losing the ball a lot.

And I think when Ferrante lost the ball last week it was worse than Daniel losing it this week

who writes this trash talk

I've been a typical kiwi rugby supporter also enjoying quality other sport for decades and got into football supporting then refereeing then coaching my daughter's teams over the last dozen years

and there is no way the Phoenix warrant that sort of sh*t report

rugby test last night - boring, nothing overly skillful and the game no longer "works" rules wise
phoenix match - good level of skill, good pace, no downtime and a good exciting competitive game

NZPA have dished out a piece of bigotted lazy reporting in my view

i read about the first two paragraphs of that horse sht. Whowrote that drivel? Danny Hay again? Can all you footy lovers who can write out there - go and become journos in order to save us from this drivel?
oh and yeah I was subjected to the Wellington shield rugby game and it was the worst 80min of my life

In defence of a press agency like  NZPA they do not have (for the most part) sport-specific reporters unlike the Dom who will always have Fred doing the Phoenix (unless he's away). If you're on the sport desk at NZPA and a Nix game is on you'll be doing it. It has to be said that they will also be putting out other news during a match (think how many other events are reported on in your Monday paper and you'll get an idea of the volume of copy that is flowing on a Sunday evening. It's a matter of resources and NZPA has very few. Having said that, they do have a staffer in Sydney who gets to games in Syndey, Gosford and Newcastle when he can. Basically it comes down to luck of the draw, or luck of the roster, as to who is on and their knowledge/opinion of the Phoenix. I guess the other thing to remember is that as fans of the Phoenix we do wear rose-tinted glasses at times just like reporters whose glasses may have only one lens working.

I thought Daniels cross was brilliant and showed what he is capable of, however, had the cross gone to no one or been cleared I would have said he had a rather poor game. Lost the ball a couple of times and didn't work hard enough to get it back.

Also, i have decided i do not care if Mckain can not pass a ball anymore, he wins us so much in midfield he's allowed to squander possession occasssionally.

I agree with McKain statement. He's our rock in midfield and if we can get him to get off the small short passes to either Ferrante/ Brown or anyone close by like Deigo rather than trying some long ball stuff then he could be even better

Daniel set up a goal and created chances in the 20 mins he was on. He loses the ball but makes up with it creativity. (though I don't think he's been at his best for the past year or so) Ferrante does nothing except 'track back' (which every player should do anyway) and run around like a headless chook. The only time i've noticed him in the 2 and a bit seasons he has been with us is when he misses an easy chance or gives away a goal/foul. Can you say that about any other player? No. Even Brown gets more involved. He's a below average player at best and a terrible player at worst.

Obviously they are very different players but I just don't rate Ferrante at all. Daniel isn't amazing either but at least he creates chances. I thought he had also been playing really badly off the bench so far but he was good even before he set up that goal.

What like specific sport reporter like Terry Maddford. . . .?

Honestly, if it is not Micheal Brown, Fred Woodcock, Andrew Goudie or JR, the reporting is about 95-98% inaccurate on football in NZ.

You would be better off, pulling the match report from four-four-two because even the Australian reporters are better writing about the Phoenix on occasions.

Me thinks Kruse will get a very warm welcome round of "Robbie Kruse is a w**ker" as he runs out onto the feild for the first time.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Don't think either of them cut the mustard really, but they are what we've got and at the moment the team that started the last two games is unbeaten. At least Ferrate tried to get it (the ball) back against Perth

Perhaps the world credit crunch is having its effect, or maybe you are one of the lucky people. The NZ unemployments rate went up 1% in one month. They only got 9000 to watch the Manley game in the NRL.

You have to admit 7,000 is a hell of a drop from 20,000 and the Roar ain't doing that bad.

If you look at aussie teams playing NZ teams in their leagues, the crowds are always noticeably smaller. When did they get that 20K?

In the opening weekend against Gold Coast. They did want a massive crowd but it never really eventuated.

I don't think where the opposition from matters too much, especially if they're not a horrfic team. And even if they are, then more people might go along to watch their team spank the opposition. Just think it goes to show that attendances are spiralling downwards in Australia, at least for the moment in such recessionary times.

Ooh!  If that's true that's very sad.  Do the English crowds drop off when Cardiff are playing in the Championship league?

There's quite a bit of discussion on 442 about ticket price rises
$40 a seat at the Roar

No wonder, that is a rediculous amount of money for a football game, sure charge more if you sell out every week and can get away with it, but not if it means playing in a quarter full stadium.

7000 fans at 40 = 280,000 dollars in gate receipts,

20,000 fans at 20 = 400,000 dollars. I know which one i'd go for add to that the better atmosphere, increased revenue from food and beverage purchases, merchandise sales etc etc.

Someone needs to do some basic management planning and not price themselves out of a fan base.

$20 NZD at the ROF would see an increase in crowd numbers too.

If you got in early you could a season ticket to the Gold Coast for $9.00 per adult which is much better than $27.00 per adult.
