Chris Payne

Seb Ryall

conclusion: We need to bring back John McKain

Rojas has played a total of 50 mninutes in two games, leo played last game as did Daniel, plus I was referring to their combined season tally.

Er no - if the hand is used to control the ball it should be a f**king foul

Er no - Isn't that what he just said? Accidental handball isn't using the hand to control it. i.e. if it got blasted at him point blank and hit his hand, are you going to say he controlled it?

^^^ this my original post edited a bit better to be clearer

[quote]*edit* to make my point clearer

if the match is reviewed and it's an accidental handball leading to the goal then can't do much about that i.e an unsighted deflection etc

if its somebody blatantly cheating to gain an advantage they should be banned and the goal disallowed.

Daniel has unfortunately failed to take his chance. He should be freed at the end of the season without question. About 1 good half in every 10 games of football is just not good enough.

Give Rojas a chance and give him a run in the team.

Too many facepalms in here. Now I know why I don't frequent the match threads often.

Vader - my opening comment was clearly not serious. You took it literally and that's where I should have ended it if it wasn't for you're 'all he's good for is clearing the ball' comment, which is just plain stupid.

I don't feel like I have to argue with you (and I actually just can't be arsed) but Siggy wouldn't be there if that's all he was good for. That's all I have to say.

Fuck this stupid game

How come we only see you on here when we're losing?

North was just terrible in the 2nd half, hand ball was a horrible decision, I honestly wouldn't be able to play on if I did that in a game. Hearfield made a complete hash of the 1st goal and Brown, Rojas and Greenacre all missed gettable chances.

End result should have been 2-2 and I think we at least deserved a point, one of the few games where were the better team and deserved to get something out of the game.

Certainly no angst should be towards Ricki, again stupid defensive blunders led to us chasing the game, he threw the kitchen sink into getting an equaliser and the players missed 4 or 5 chances to get the draw.

We played with parity in that game just couldn't finish. They had less chances and put them away. Thats football and thats them with the W and 3.

Not a stellar game from our back 4 and I really do feel for Durante being surrounded by players not playing to their capability. The finish from D-Mac is what we have missed all season.

Rojas can beat players on the dribble sure enough, can he do anything else?

Grumpy old bastard alert

I think we had more chances than them, but they made them count, dammit

Siggy should not have stopped defending regardless of the handball, needs to learn that

I agree, but I'd rather a player hurting enough to be honest than a "PR" media comment.  It was refreshing to at least see the anguish.  I'm used to other sports where players will say things like "it's part of the game, we should have responded better" or "I don't really want to talk about that, we had our chances".

Maybe if we are next to no chance for a play off spot RH will go wild and start with two strikers

Some very good saves by the keeper though, along with some dogged defending (reminded me of the Nix last year).

Yeah the loss was a bit sh*t, but there were so many positives to come out of the match. The midfield was bossing for most of the match, crosses on the whole were much better than normal, ifill still looks dangerous, rojas is a huge boost off the bench. 30+ balls into the box was a great effort, and any other night, we might have scored six - that's football.

I think the Nix just need to spend the next three days looking at structure in the 18 yard box and figure out how to defend a counter attack and we'll be fine. There's plenty of literature on both, and we have the talent.

Some of the criticisms on here are hilarious. We are not Barcelona.

I think we played one of our best games football-wise (ie coherent passing and getting into threatening positions). It was pleasing on the eye for the most part. But, far from perfect and we got punished for a few moments of schoolboy defending.

On balance, one of our better displays. I know it's all about goals, but this gives me more hope than some of the disjointed jobbies on display earlier in the season.

Can't wait to fly down to ChCh and see RO-HUS in the middle of the street.

I know, I know, its serious!

We may never even of scored one if they weren't sitting back lazily on at 3-0. They missed chances too. We weren't good enough.
Poor defense and poor finishing = loss. Bossed possesion at times though which is good. Just need the final pass/finish.

Probably because it's not convenient for your story to look.

Sorry but alll your ifs, buts and maybes are nothing in reality.

You have to be good enough to ride out the bad luck.
If you suck, then bad luck is convenient too if your one who's incline to excuses or clutching at ifs, buts and maybes.

That's not fair.  I've been a fan of this joint since day dot.  I've supported the Kings, the Knights etc, and I will be sticking it out through thick and thin.  I think some of our football this year has been overly negative.  Am I wrong in saying that?  I have also posted in most posts when things are going good.

Not sure that 2 substitute appearances constitutes 'a run' quite yet. He should start ahead of the anonymous Daniel next game though. And also not be immediately dropped and disappear after 1 bad game like Ricki does to others at times.

I thought we could have had two penalties aswell, Brown clearly taken out at the end of the first half, and although I haven;t seen the replay, I though Ifill got wiped out at the top of the box just before the end of the second.

That's my take on it:

First half: even. They were more ruthless in front of goal but we created at least as much as they did. Unlucky to go to the sheds 1-nil down.

Second half: A mixture of bad luck and not enough determination saw us waste that 80% possession spell without scoring. And in football when you run that much for that long and you get no reward - sooner of later it bites you in the arse. Shame cause I thought there was a studs up challenge leading to their counter attack. And I think that Rojas stopped cause he thought he was going to get a foul. Third goal..do I need to talk about it?

I think we played a very decent game. It's a shame that the Nix only get that urgency and determination when are losing 2-0 or thereabouts. Had we started the game the way we played the second half, we would have won 3-1!

Can't fault the effort just couldn't get the ball in the net

And imo Sydneys 2nd goal was offside and the third was just simply bullsh*t too the max with the handball leading up to it

Rojas can beat players on the dribble sure enough, can he do anything else?

He seemed to be able pass first time accurately along the ground, has a very good corner and free kick, he can cross just as good as the rest of the wide players, has a mostly flawless first touch, seems to have a lot of intelligence on the play (positioning in general and that little flick) add that to the fact he can beat players - consistently - and I'm not sure why you'd want to complain.

So he can't shoot and he's a little small. The entire Barcelona team are midgets with similar qualities - shooting can be worked on.
