You're right, we're talking about his defending and when he's playing well he does more than just 'clear the ball well'.

You're saying he's only good for clearing the ball when he's at his best when in fact, he does more than is asked of him. He's been better than North the whole time North has been here and he's a better fullback than Hearfield.
Who should replace him?

Do you watch him with the ball at his feet? You can literally see his brain going 'What option do I have? Should I or shouldn't I pass it. Um, Ah, Um, Ah. f**k it I'll turn back' With the ball at his feet and space, he is dangerous to his own team and as shown tonight (but not specifically) he is not the quickest to turn and chase in a foot race. He is effective in that he wins the ball in the air and clears as a last line of defence and give it his all. Thats about it. He by and large plays to that as well.

Throwing the 'who should replace him' is a complete red herring and you know it because we are not arguing that point.
