Yeah,AJ13 was saying that only 2 dozen turned up yesterday, and it was the same for the TW game. I remember more than a couple dozen being at the TW game.!

At kick off, i counted 23 people yesterday. There were marginally more by halftime, but not many. Perhaps there were 500 at full time? I didnt count. Either way you werent one of them.

As I said, I don't really see why you would expect more than that to turn up in crap weather to watch manawatu play waikato in wellington.
There WERE more at the Team Wellington game (which I was at), based on your estimates for the game yesterday. Nothing strikes me as odd about any of that, and I expected nothing more...As I'm sure WelNix etc did also.
They're not going to stop doing it just because barely anyone turned up to watch 2 teams they don't care about play in bad weather. get a grip on reality.

I just assumed that since us 'die hard' fans were turning up at the same venue a little later on anyway that we wouldve been down to support football in any shape or form, regardless of who it was. I guess i was wrong.

5.5K for a home game is not great - even if the weather wasn't great.

What is the right answer? (I don' think they have worked it out yet....I see they are doing the fan trail again next week for the Sydney Game)

Also, PAX update for next weekends game (We have a Swedish temp employee who is in Welly for a few weeks, who was dead keen to see Del Boy play while in the country. So he has already purchased tickets for next weeks game. Showed me the tickets.

PAX: 6499

So heads up folks and hope the weather turns out nice like today (typical) or lets all think there is a Lord of the rings movie premier on Sunday as Wellington always seems to turn on a scorcher for these days?????

Perhaps one off the wall solution to low turnout is to not have live TV coverage in Wellington for the Nix home games. It could be put on later. That way you want to see the game live, go to the stadium and face the elements, don't park your bum on a comfy couch in front of the TV. Is it even possible for one region to have a delayed broadcast while it's live elsewhere? Just a thought.

Actually 1040 did according to stadium numbers.

I see ACFC are down to play TW on Sunday Feb 10 at Dave Farrington Park. Don't we get to be the curtain-raiser for a Nix game at all? Couldn't that be resheduled for a Nix home game? That might attract more than 500 to Westpac.

ACFC would have been playing in the curtain raiser yesterday if they didn't go for a holiday to Japan.

We only have one game at Westpac in February and that is on 24th against Adelaide.  The other 'home' game is at Eden Park v Perth.  Is there a asbpremiership game on that day.  Maybe they could do a curtain raiser there?

There's our venue for the Wellington Fever vs Auckland Fever game.

So who is the target audience for the curtain raisers then?  Im not clear and Im sure they arent either...it is certainly not me.  I just want to turn up and be entertained for 90 minutes having travelled 50 minutes to park car and 10 mins to walk..and then turn around and do it all again.  I dont want to spend another 90 mins there and then fill in the in between time somehow that doesnt involve eating or drinking.

OK, so it was a bit crap but the statement that the Nix only had three attempts that needed saving isn't right.

According to the stats the Nix had 19 goal attempts, 7 on target, 10 off target and 2 blocked. Covic made 6 saves, including one cracking free kick from Alex Smith which Hamish Bidwell seems to have forgotten.

Do a bit of research Hamish.

Was very noticeable when Smith was subbed off we completely lost our defensive shape - Lia and Fenton didn't seem to know where they should be and WSW actually looked like they might nick a goal which would have been hard to swallow.

I guess Smith was pretty shagged but really thought Ifill and Stein were just as tired. Was surprised to see Smith's number rather than one of them for Fenton.

So back to "where have all the Yellow Fever gone?"

I thought they go no matter what the weather, yet the Fever looked small....and a bit bored. It's not pretty football this season.

The weather was ok by the way and surely not an excuse. As one person on here mentioned, if you can't go to a game when it's windy in Wellington then we're stuffed.

Was likewise perplexed by this sub, to the point that I thought maybe Smith was injured. Just seemed very odd, as he was playing really well and with only a one goal lead you'd have thought his defensive tackling and especially his ability in the air were very important to see us through.

On the other it's always a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' thing for Ricki. He's got so much criticism in past seasons for not playing young players and for grinding out results with resolute but dull defence instead of trying to kill the game off with attacking subs. I like this new Ricki. Maybe the season hasn't caught fire like we all hoped it would but I enjoy watching these promising young Kiwi guys and the chaotic Totori running at tired defences

I think Feverzone is pretty much a mirror of the rest of the stadium

We thought he looked a bit hobbled. He does have ankle trouble.
Not sure if Herbert was putting Fenton on to rest Smith because he thought they wouldn't score in a 1000 years, or because he thought we needed to change shape to get the second goal.
Or just because that's what he had written down in his note-book.

I also didnt think the weather was that bad. I didnt think it was even that cold, or that windy. We often have way worse days
