Just looking at the goal now. Awesome stuff!
I reckon Lovemore sounds a good signing if he is young. Why not? But where was he playing? Striker, or out wide?
Because its a harder sell if hes midfield.
Im very interested in this guy

Was a great day out. Met up with Kiwihatter at Speights Ale House before the game.
Had a brain explosion - realised I'd left tickets behind so organised someone to drop them off to us.
The queue to get the tickets swapped at the gate wasn't too bad.
There were a LOT of walk-ups buying tickets for the game, in glorious sunshine. The crowd anywhere from 9K-12K, never heard/saw crowd attendance announced.
But pics on Photosport of the Brian Perry stand show a good portion of it full. And a few aisles in Wel Networks stand were full also.
Vieira didn't impress me much, but he didn't get many opportunities.
Musa looked solid, a few times I thought he could have covered the wide player better, had Durante run to cover players that got behind him.
And Lovemore, the other young guy, he looked impressive. A nice shot that didn't go all that far over the crossbar starting the "sign him up" chant.
Not sure if we have any other trialists. Doubt Vieira will get a contract based solely on that performance. Lovemore might do though.

big macs goal is a good sign, but highlight for me - hearing Iffy talk about the match (reminds me that the season isn't too far away!!)
also
*puts on his "this is a war to the death with bollocks=rugby media hat*
not only pre-season match coverage but also a pre-season 'interview'
but *puts on cynical old git hat*
I wonder what the Ricki piece was put in there to accomplish? (something like- "You're not in the rest of the world now Ricki"???)
overall (cynicism aside) well done TV1

short article here, nothing really not already covered in this thread.
intersting, the story comes with 'bonus' poxy rugby add down the page ,
good news though - there is a complain button - i did cos i figure every message that says hey old farts "NZ has moved past 'rugby, racing , and beer" will speed up better coverage of football
p.s - i have no problem with "beer"
Have noticed this,. a rugby ad with every football article lately,..iirc on Stuff, Granny Herald and now TV too. targeted strategy from NZ Rugby's ad buyers/agency??
Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Makes sense, was announced before the start of the pre-season that each A-League club would play at least two pre-season matches against A-League opposition, was starting to wonder if we were exempt!

Yip, right in front of me! The guy who was waving them was f**king funny too.
Had an awesome day out. I loved when the security lady told us all to sit down, and this guy a couple of seats over started a chant "We stand up at the football" and that caught on where we were. Only the second time I've actually seen the Nix and I love the Fever (although I couldn't bring myself to chant "We're not Auckland anymore"
) And Paston's song
Just enjoyed it so much. I wish I lived in Wellington just for that. Was a bit nervous near the start of the game where lots of people were sitting down but all good.

Thanks for that - Was unhappy about it being untelivised, but I guess you have to expect that with pre-season games.
Great result and a good turn out by the Tron-Population.

I thought the Yellow Fever Hamiltron chapter done a great job of carrying on what happens at the ring of fire, yes sometimes the timing was a bit out yet have to expect that on the first time
I just hope with 9000k+ we get another game next year
The Fever zone was in block 5 quite fitting realy

Unfortunately when we went to buy tickets at the gate, the person behind the counter said the Fever Zone was sold out and there were no seats nearby. But there were heaps. So I was over in the WEL stand. Great day anyway, but no one near us were up for the chants (I doubt they knew them), except some kids nearby I taught Same Old Aussies!

Just got back, I've lost my voice. Good result. The locals were very funny and educated me about what Hamilton had to offer. STD's and loose women apparently.
Good crowd.

Great ground for Phoenix with closeness to teams, dug outs and the game itself!

I have to say.... if only the RoF was a proper football/rugby field like we had in Hamilton- nice to be so close to what was going on....
Did speak to a couple of people, at the ground, and at the accomidation- and they didn't quite understand why we were travelling all that way to follow a team....

Did i really see some claims that the yellow fever was sold out? We went down and sat there a few seconds after kick off, bit miffed we couldn't buy family seats there in the first instance, really looking forward to the season now.

Incidentally, was it just me or did Ifill seem *very* upset he had been taken off for the trialists?

Enjoyed the game, we dominated the 1st half and looked really good. Second half was understandably a bit worse due to the subs. Wasn't overly impressed with Musa but he may have just been nervous, he was caught out of position quite often.
Lovemore (sp?) looked very handy, quick and with a bit of skill, looked comfortable playing at that level of football. The Brazilian looked ok but not to sure about him yet.

Yeah, the word we got at the gate, and others did to, was the FZ was sold out, and the nearest block would be the two at either end of the Brian Perry stand. So we thought we'd just go Wel stand, as we could sit anywhere and it was cheaper. Sat down and saw more than enough seats for my father and I in the block with you lot!
Despite that it was still rad, especially as I made a Phoenix fan out of my dad. One more for the ranks of Ricki Herbert's Yellow Army!

I went along to the game and took 6 newbies (Some never been to a football match and they loved it!) Zone was in good voice i thought for the numbers.
Ifill is quite obviously the best player on the pitch at any one time but it was strange how angry he seemed at his substitution. I guess it's good to see he's keen. McCalister scored a stunner.
It was great to have the zone so close to Ricki and Terry. He got a fair few hip horrays!
Great day all in all

Would be awesome, but then we would have to do something ridiculous - play all our cricket at the best cricket ground in the country.

Hutt Park Raceway would be a nice spot for a rectangular stadium. Wouldnt be as easy to get to as Westpac Stadium tho.

Yeah not too many spaces to build a dedicated football stadium around Wellington, which is the main problem.
Could always knock down a few more railway buildings, and do a Sydney - have an oval and rectangle ground next to each other.
Though I suspect both of them being rather empty might be an issue, it would at least mean concerts could be on one and not affect games on the other :)
Then of course, we could just terminate all the Thordon residents who complain :P

I nominate Karori Aquatic Centre.
Only trouble with having two stadia next to each other is that the Bon Jovi audience will complain about the noise that the Nix games make.
