Best moment was leading the warrors chant at the end of the game. Off to drink more piss

Sounds like you were at the wrong match/venue/sport/country. If chanting to Roar fans about the Broncos losing was "the best moment" then it must have been a very poor night for you there Ballane. Btw did they reply with a chant to do with the Phoenix losing?

If your point is that people shouldn't over react - I agree, but an even game - no.

They were clearly the better side.

Brisbane have been the most impressive team so far this season. Long way to go obviously, I'm sure they'll have their dips, but last night I would have picked them to win in every fixture possible... apart from in Wellington of course.

A bit disappointed with our form so far all the same though.

One swallow doesnt make a season, I can take the odd loss here or there., not two or three in a row though.

Need the three points next week.

Just watched the goal again and I agree that Dura got dragged out of position on the goal. He also got draggedout of position because the midfield were not marking up...

Its easy to slam him but had Mckay been marked by Lia or Brown, would Dura have left Kosta?

Grumpy old bastard alert

Lia and Brown are'nt cutting it. Last year the Nix played a different shape with 3 in the centre of midfield. Now with only 2 there have been big holes in all 3 games. They either need to go back to last years shape, or with 3 at the back which is most properly the plan, and beef up the midfeild if we are to compete.

Ricki's lack of action to change the flow of the game is " going missing".
You bag this thread for "being full of stoopid", then you add to the stoopid. Well done.

Hey, at least you have both eyes open.
When the current shape is clearly not working, why not make those changes during the game.

i agree, with brown pushing forward so much the formation makes us almost have 5 up front running away from the ball with lia on his own in midfield. this creates problems in defence as opposition mids making runs dont get picked up. and in attack there is nobody coming to the ball so we have to resort to the long ball over the top and bypass our non existent midfield.

DS's smarta$se cameo (but I reckon there's merit in the question to be honest)... a few said that Kosta had to leave Wellington "becuase there was no Youth Team".

Yet Ange P has picked him every week for the senior team at the Roar.

What's going on, why did he REALLY leave? Is there more to it?

Really?  How often does a player leave a club because they aren't getting game time? Answer: all the time.

Ricki wasn't picking him and probably still wouldn't have been picking him at the start of this season if he was still here. He would've been stupid to stay here.

It always annoyed me though that he didn't get more game time. I just have to sigh and try to bare it now.

yo diego's son, I'm kosta's family and I can assure you there was nothing more, the poor guy was itching to play, didn't get it, LEFT, simple.

so I know that ricky would be kicking himself for not recognising kosta's potential, HOWEVER, ricky did get kosta into the nix, and from there, theres bigger and brighter for the barbarouses bullet, even if ricky didn't want him in the end.

its a true shame we (his friends and family) have to cheer him on playing for another team, but hey, sh*t happens.

To people saying Kosta should of stayed.

The question is, Would he have been as good as he is playing now if he had remained?

I doubt he would have even played a game at this point if he stayed with the Phoenix.

He made a great decision to move to Brisbane..They have been able to produce quite a few decent youngsters over the last few years.

The other question being ignored by all is that if Reinaldo was fit and the Costa Rican cleared internationally would Kosta have even got a chance?

How's my driving? - Whine here

You can't forge talent my friend.  I do think with more game time and more experience he's grown more and this is exactly what he needed.

that he had to move to get it tho.

FACT: His coach promised him GAME TIME, and he's kept his promise, kosta has played every game and started every game, does that answer your question?

Good response, I thought it was a good question to raise as there was talk last season that Kosta was being denied a chance to play first team soccer, yet he seems to be first choice at the Roar.

No Toto and Daniel on the pitch, definitely showed lack of creativity up front.

Will see if Ricki changes his plans for Perth, but at this rate, team will struggle unless thinks are shaken up.

I think people are taking this Kosta thing too far.

1 goal in 3 games, a standard finish for a striker lets be honest.  un-marked inside the box........ just because it came against us we now have people yelling "why did we let him go ???"

yea, sure he's a player with potential but these calls about him being "the next Smeltz" are way too premature.

lets see how he goes this season.

He's looked dangerous and played well in his 3 games. Shown some classy touches, like he did for us sometimes when given the chance. It's not just because he scored 1 goal against us. He's also the type of player that I think we could really do with at times. Of course, the goal against us has re-ignited views on this.

Obviously, what's happened has happened and no good going on about it all forever. As you say, lets see how he goes this season. I'll be keeping a keen watch and hoping he goes well. No more goals against us would be nice though.

there were players who were ahead of him and playing well last season. i think had he stayed he would certainly be pushing bertos for his place this season. but he chose to leave for brisbane. i dont see why his 'family' are getting angsty at ricki and disappointed by this. its football.

@ tegal ....by angsty I'm assuming you're MEANT to spell angry???

Who's angry?? I said it sucks we can't cheer kosta HERE in nz, and we have to cheer another team cause he's in it...got it????
and AGAIN if you read back in one of my posts I DID say that ricky is the one that gave kosta his first opportunity, so learn to read properly and stop coming to your own conclussions.

crap I just typed a reply to you and it went missing...so lemmi repeat myself pussy fighter *as per your lil gif on the left there*

I STILL think he shouldn't have been let go, and I STILL think he's a damn good player, and I have not changed my tune thanks very much.  Ricky DID kosta wrong by keeping such talent as a bench warmer, however kosta is and will always be greatful that he gave him his foot in the door.

sooooooooooooo, now I'm bored watching the pussy's fighting and I bid you goodnite!!

PS let me leave you with something I saw on the Brisbane Roar forum, EVEN THEY THINK RICKY SHOULDN'T HAVE LET HIIM GO.............

Anthony Pukallus GLAD WE GOT WON OVER THE NIX. EVEN IF KOSTA SAYS HE IS A KIWI IT DOESN'T MATTER, WE DESERVED THE WIN AGAINST A WELLINGTON SIDE WITH A TYPICALLY BIG HEAD COMING INTO THE GAME. THEY GOT SHOWN UP BY THE MAN THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE LET GO! GO ROAR! PREMIERS AND CHAMPIONS 2011!

how stink is THAT?? it even kills me that an aussie team beat the nix cause of kosta.
but what can ya do??

LisaKi - Kosta just wasn't good enough to start for us, I'm glad he left as he can develop more as a player. Ricki shouldn't have let him go, why? because he scored a goal for them? He's not better than Ifill, Greenie or Bertos, so I'm not entirely worried. If we lost one of the three players I mentioned to the Roar, then I'd be worried.

IMO the reason why Kosta is starting at brisbane, is because he fits into there gameplan for fast, good on the ball and is technically very good players and he is starting to contribute to some good plays. News, when Reinaldo comes back surely he'll go in for Mitch Nichols, however when that Costa Rican comes in Kosta might have to make way.

This. Kosta fits in with fast ball on the deck. Easier to play in dry conditions. The 'Nix are by and large slow. He is better suited to the game plan...and as said he won't be an automatic starter. He did well last season to force some game time and had some great contributions...but don't think it was a matter of being an automatic starter this season either...

Kosta does look at home playing in Brisbane so far. Good on him. I hope he improves now that he has game time and an AW shirt waiting for him come october. Good on him.

thanks, and yeap good on him, he's young and he has talent with a promising career infront of him, and again, good on ricky for recognising it at the start.

Funnily, just before he scored the goal I thought that we had kept well on top of him. Does say something for him though that his first real opportunity to score - he does.

Me and my friend were gutted when Kosta signed with Brisbane, only cause we thought he was a cutie! But seriously he is good, but we had more experienced players ahead of him. I think Ricki did say it was disappointing to see him go (mainly cause of the lack of a reserve side being able to play in the NZFC). So in the end I'm glad he did go and good on him, the more kiwis getting regular first team time is excellent and I too hope we'll see him here in October. Im sure that is his aim.

oh LisaKi, it's Ricki not Ricky

Did we not offer Kosta a 3 year deal? It was his decision to go, not ours, and you can't really begrudge him for that. I think the change of scenery will stand him in good stead for the rest of his football career anyway.
