I think he is just terrified of people older than 32, or with a receeding hairline...

Hope he never meets me then....

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Actaully Jag you're fine.  Your hair isn't receeding.  It has in fact, receeded.

Get one of those Martin Crowe hair transplants Jag, you'll be right then

Three for me, and two for them.

In 9 games we've only won once against the Roar.

so fair to say tough game, and we'd be happy to come away with the draw.....also fair to say that we are a vastly better team than season one, two and certainly improved on last season

You're tall, he won't be able to see your receeding hairline. Unless he stands on a chair.

It's going to be a tight one, and i'd be happy with a point to be fair.

Brown and Lia are going to have to step up big time to plug the middle of the park, and Lochhead has got to make sure his man doesn't beat him at the byline and get a cross in. I think our attack will find things a little easier than against CCM so hopefully a few more balls wide to Ifill and Leo, I like that they switch sides mid game too.

True, except we got destroyed 4-1 last year. I'll be happy with a draw

Meh, that was a close game (which we were losing, admittedly) that blew out at the end.

I'll admit I'd be happy with a draw too. But we played better against CCM than against GC (defensively at least) and hopefully we just keep improving every game of the season until at the finals we're like some super team that would thrash Man U. That's the trend so far, why would it change?

cant argue with that ^^^^

i think we are quite capable of the win. Think we can break them down defensively down the middle. But it is those flanks where they will be dangerous

Goalkeeper?
Paston,
Vukovic,or
give McMaster a go at his old club?

Paston looks to be injured. Definitely not McMaster. Vukovic for me.

Brisbane give me nightmares at their place but hell's teeth if we are going to win the league this would be a great place to lay down a marker

We have to break our hoodoo sometime, I guess!

McKay has been been playing very well imo and is a much more complete player than he used to be - Timmy and Lia will need to step up.

I think breaking the duck last year was what we needed. We've got better strikers than they do this season IMO, so I think we're a decent 70/30 shot at winning this game away.

I am sure the team will enjoy time away from the cold and rain as well

I have a feeling we may be chasing shadows for long stretches of this game.

so paston ok, will be interesting to see if he can play his A game this week, now with the added Vukovich pressure

A full  fit squad and we will get three three points, Paston is safe, Ifill is on fire, still worried about our free kicks though and the fact if we get a lead we go too quiet.

Ifill was nowhere near on fire against CCM.

Bench for me should be Vukovic, Hearfield, Daniel and Pav..no Toto at the moment.   Needs Pav to enable Big Mac to come off and the game plan stays the same...

drop hearfield for Toto, he offers way more on attack...and if you need to sub a defender for some reason move Lia back as defenisve cover.

I am happy with whoever. Paston has done nothing wrong, so deserves to hold his place.

I would rather have all attacking options on the bench to be honest. So Daniel and Toto are definites. And could be good to have pav there as well.
But not for this game, i wouldnt try it over there.

Id keep troy there for brissy, but possibly look at giving pav and even rojas some rotation after that

Hows Marco's recovery coming along?

Don't think he'd be close to the bench even if fully fit at the moment, however.valeo2010-08-25 16:54:09

Thinking about it, I'm not at all opposed to seeing Bertos start on the bench and give Daniel a start.  Bertos was hardly inspiring vs CCM.  Pavlovic on the bench could be a goer as well.

i havent watched brisbane this season

the way some of you were talking on page 2/3 of this thread i thought f*k we've got barcelona on friday night, then i checked and saw they've scored 1 goal in their opening 2 matches...

they may have kept possession well, but we're solid at the back, thats how we got where we got last season. Despite their two clean sheets to kick off we've got plenty of goals in us, ifill doesnt have to play well to score either

3 points i can feel it. And i love away points, so precious, so delicious

Think Barcelona without Messi.

They have played the best football in the league so far but couldn't finish a cheese Sandwich.

Yes, but not just him.  The German Broich and Henrique have been challenged as well.  All playing fantastically until the end.  They're still sweating on clearance for the Costa Rican Striker (I believe).

Big time. He missed a sitter last week. He is probably their biggest threat on the ball, in my opinion, but he's not finding the back of the net.

Henrique is the biggest threat imo - ripped us to pieces in that 4-1 there last season

What I remember about that game is us being stuffed after the away win over the Jets in 40 degrees the previous week. Manny got sent off not long into the 2nd half and Roar finished us off with a few more goals.

In the earlier away game to Roar we more than worth a 1-1 draw and actually had them on the ropes in the last 15 minutes. I think we'll be very competitive on Friday but obviously we are going to have to lift our game after two quite average performances.
