Combination of things led to the goal,  ending up with neither Smith or Warner doing their jobs properly.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Where are the comments about how much better Warner organises the back 4?

To be fair, the back four has been, reasonably, kind of, sort of, well organised-ish! The wheels came off at that goal yesterday.

It'll be fun to see how things go on here when Paston comes back. Warner and Paston are pretty much the same, in my opinion. Paston isn't immune to f**king things up, but a number on here seem to have conveniently forgotten that.

Changing keepers isn't going to sort out the fundamental problems we've got. Just changes the scapegoat for a week or two.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Agreed, but I still think that Paston appears a better keeper than Warner has in the past few. (And i'm certainly not a Paston diehard - was very much in the Moss camp).

Oh, I don't rate Warner at all, just don't think Paston would be a massive upgrade.

Last time we played Gold Coast at Skilled Park, Pasty had a great game, kept us in the lead right until the death. Worth another shot, even if all it achieves is stops Warner getting complacent and thinking the starting spot will always be his.

Well he maybe has a point there. First half in particular the players were chipping long passes around like they didn't realise the pitch was soaked and the ball would skid off it and take it away from the intended target.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought so.

I couldn't even look when players were trying across-field balls, across the wind, expecting them to be able to successfully trap the ball.
On the flip-side in the first 10 minutes I had hope when they were making short, quick one touch passes.

And then we reverted to forcing long balls hoping they'd land on Greeny's head. Rain, hail or shine, they use the same, predictable game plan, and without Ifill there's more creativity in a German munitions factory.

And it might just be me, but every time I see Pavlovic play he is always the fresh man on and yet never looks like wanting to run for the ball. If it doesn't stop dead at his feet he chucks a snotty and swans off.

agreed, also agree with the Pav comment above, god I was mad at him when he pulled up after chasing that pass......FFS he's young and should be more committed than that,

I've seen Warner,Smith and Pav all blamed for Perth's last-gasp goal and  even Lochhead could have been blamed for the challenge that gave them the opportunity, though Andrezinho milked that perfectly with lino in front of him. No No NO..! After watching the replay..(yep,that took an effort).. I have seen and heard for myself where the blame lies.

The real culprit was know-all Andrew Dewhurst with a grade A " Commentators Curse."
At 91.24 mins on the screen   he pipes up with
"..They've never won in Wellington..8 visits,3 draws the best that they have done..." blah blah bloody blah.
In less than a minute they scored, game over..inevitable really.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

He also conceded the equaliser which went in not more than a foot away from him, and he did not move for it at all. If Warner had done that, there'd be a lynch mob with pitchforks waiting for him at the airport.el grapadura2012-01-09 15:02:31

Again well said Jag,

I remember last year about this stage in the season being huge anti Paston Angst for punching the ball and not catching.... seems to be whoever is between the sticks cops it in the neck!

I think if we actually sign a decent keeper, it would take a lot of the fun out of things!

Much like there is murmorings to eject Lochhead. People seem have forgotten what it was like for that stretch last year when we didn't have a LB....

Exactly.... In all reality it should be Leo getting given grief on here with the way he has played this season.

Had a look myself, I think you are wrong, the ball was well above Pav and he was marking McGarry. Everyone seemed to go to sleep, and didnt consider a ball to the back post (why not??),  Mitchell ghosted in, Smith was unaware of him, and that was that. Wartner had the most chance to stop it, reacted late

haven't read all the thread but my 2 cents worth....the lqads looked tired, which is fair I suppose, but given Perth played wednesday and flew to us inexcusable to be outplayed by them. I though subbing daniel was the wrong call, he was far more dangerous on attack than Leo, I hope we sign smith permanently! he seems to fit well with the team and offers a lot.
Agree with that, Leo should have been off at half-time....the 2 old guys in the midfield need stopping [ which Duro did late in the game]...and Smith into the midfield, but we never make changes that early !!!!!!! Daniel was going ok, wrong to be sub this time

...his 1st touch throughout the match on Sunday was amazing......about the standard of  a poor sunday league player, and Ricki just sits there and watches it happen...time after time

The ball should never have bounced anyway, was in the air more that long enough for Warner to claim and bounced inside the 6 yard box.

The ball was curling into the 6 yeard box and with the wind as bad as it was i can understand why he didn't come out for as it can't be easy to judge, especially when you add in the natural curve of a left foot free kick taker.

Smith may have cost himself a contract with that poor piece or marking as he should have never let the guy waltz in front of him. Was ball watching!

Warner should have covered his post better though. Seems a little slow to react occassionally - see goal last week that dribbled underneath him.

Actually think Lochead has been playing well. He is also our only left sided defender.

Allegedly

Griffiths and manny have done it better.

Lochead is forever in no mans land, grabbing oppositions waists and providing predictable lobs up the line that midfield and forwards have to make something of (that's if he doesn't just kick I out).

He's decent enough in the heading department, but he's just too predictable and positionally weak for my liking.

The fact that he is our only left sided defender is the reason he gets a game every week.

Thats why you should always have a defender on the back post, to cover things like that.

After that sh*tfest of a game we need something to cheer us up. I'm sure someone's probably thought of this before, but Glory as a club name opens up a world of fun. I say we call NIB stadium the Glory Hole, so we can say stuff like "Smeltz scores all the time at the Glory Hole" or "no matter how hard the boys tried they just couldn't get one in at the Glory Hole" or "that trip to the Glory Hole left a bitter taste in (insert team name)'s mouths"

People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people.

From a free kick 18 yeards out... Yeah right, simply play everyone on side and allow them to stand on top of the goalkeeper!
