It is not good for the players
It is surely not good for the spectators.
It is not good for promoting the game.
To pay good money to watch what was really a lottery would have pissed me right off. As a spectacle it was a shocker.
I don't know what game you were watching then I saw a great game. I love what I'm seeing in the A League, quite happy to watch that above the EPL or any other league [and I like NZFC too - does that make me a bad person?????]
No,supporting the Phoenix makes you a bad person silly. You should switch allegiances to the 5th best team in the world,Auckland City.

All I can say is thank goodness we were only playing Gold Coast , if we were playing a good team we would probably have lost.  We were not good at the back or in the centre of midfield, hoopefully it is just rustiness and we will improve.

I love watching professional footy players in conditions us minions have to deal with every weekend.

I found it really entertaining ...
Watching players slip and fall over and misjudge how far the ball was going to travel on the wet pitch had great comedy value!

I noticed that as well, Hearfield comes on and we concede two goals. I know Hearfield wasnt accountable but it kind of threw the balance and pattern of the team as Manny had to switch positions mid way through the match to allow him to come on.

Yeh when I settled down: I almost cried in front of my girlfriend and a pub...

1) still unbeaten at the ROF
2)Greenacre opening his account with intent- makes me think- all those goals he scores in his highlights clip are in crap weather!
3)Lia got a blinder of a shot on target.
4) McCallister and Greenie seems to be a partnership
5)Ifill is still God even when having a weak game
6) Great attendance on a sh*t night of weather
7)Daniel is cool

An absolute cracker of a football match- shots saves desperation clearances- only pity is we came out on the wrong end of it really...

great game hope we can sort it out at the back and continue to play with this intent...

Siggy had some dodgy moments. 2 or 3 times it was clearly Durantes ball and he came charging in and took it. But made some crucial tackles.

3-3. Gutted after the match but in hindsight we were probably lucky tbf. Smeltz and Porter had straightforward chances and Caravella hit the woodwork.

I liked how Smeltz wasn't a c**t when he scored. Culina was.

yeh that hurt. wanted us to score again so bad after that...I mean Judas is God if he just changes his shirt...and Judas v Greenie hopefully is gunna be a good contest this year- 2 all at the moment...!!

Robbed!!! It was ours for the win but that last header goal by Culina was a kick in the gut for a bad day for the defence. It was a fun game to watch however.

Are you serious? robbed? gold coast should have had 6 or 7. nix were outplayed and were extremely dissapointing at the back.

Horus, thank heavens there are some people who tell the truth. Techenically were were miles behind, and if it had been a dry ground we would have benn hammered.

Sorry have to call piss off on this...If it had been played on the moon Gold Coast would have thrashed us...we shouldn't even get on the pitch...we're not worthy....we're not worthy...

I think robbed is fiar enough when you've been 3-1 up and ahead with 10 to go...sure it was an attacking game and they had a couple of very close calls on the line- but Moss made two outstanding saves and Ifill put one he would normally get in his sleep wide...tell the truth?? sh*t Terry should wind the club up now obviously...

I was a bit disappointed we backed off- I wanted us to keep trying to score- we nearly did as I mentioned above. The tactical switch was important- I thought we could really have run away with the match again 4-2 was a possiblitiy and we were really tasting blood...

Just a thought on Hearfield - he was very poor against Boca and not too flash last night but I can remember him being very good in more than a few games last season. He is one of the very few players in our squad with genuine pace and last season he had the confidence to take on and beat players.

For some reason his confidence is down but I hope he bounces back.

A bit soon to right him off.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

We were second best on the night martinb. Take off your rose tinted glasses.

Three for me, and two for them.

Piss off.

Hate to see us boss a game if we get schooled and go 3-1 up.

Karma, it was all about Karma. Some were giving Moss and smeltz heaps of reminders about the score, even after shirts off. They should have left it alone for they were tempting fate.  Well Karma does exist. I hope they are happy.

Yeah whoever did that at 3-2 with GCU on the front foot and smeltz on fire,is to blame for that draw! (Almost wrote loss)

My prediction skills were on target for a good while (I called 3-1 to Phoenix) and then GCU ignored this and scored two more. This should have been picked up by me after the Ifill Burger at the Backbencher pre-game- soggy on the outside and uncooked in the middle. Truly horrible digestive experience. Six dollars for that?? Wonderful to be back at the stadium. good turnout. Several people have said there were problems with bringing on Hearfield. This is because he is crap. He is 90% crap and gifts the ball very often, and always has.Get rid of him. For good.
Does anyone else notice how long the walk is along the concourse after a result like that? Still only game one, and plenty of time for us to improve a bit. Firstly by getting rid of Hearfield.
Did I mention that? Grandadi2010-08-14 12:55:26

He can't be feeling too flash

with a strong central striking partnership and back-up to those positions Ifill is now a wide midfielder for the season
so's Bertos, so's Daniel
= Hearfield is 4th off the rank for those positions
plus to get Toto on the field there is going to be even more presure in the squad attacking midfield

and ricki keeps playing Disco at wide back, where he clearly isn't comfortable

poor bugger must wonder what he's doing here and where his career is going.  the position he's getting time in is the remaining weakness  in the team. I'd be happier to see a professional player in that position rather than Ricki trying to teach a guy to play there who clearly is struggling

Thought for a moment there when he took off Mac he was going to stick Disco up front! couldn't think where else he'd put him...did bag a few in season 2 IIRC

I wouldn't have had a problem with that, it was what I was hoping, but I wouldn't have taken MacAllister of for him.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Don't think anyone apart from Valeo and Ricki would have...though who would you have taken off Ifill? Leo? Greenie on his almost hat trick night?

If he didn't like it and was wondering what he was doing here why would he sign a contract extension at the end of last season after spending most of the season at RB?

Ifill, he went invisible in the last 20 to 30 minutes I reckon.

Ifill definitely - thought he should've been taken off at half time cause he was hobbling around

The challenge from a Gold Coast twat didn't help. Can't remember who but Ifill was through and he cut him down terribly.

did he even get a card??

talking about cards, a bit rich for Leo to get one for taking a player out early in a move when one of theirs did exactly the same thing 2-3 minutes before on the other side of the park

I had $5 on 3-1, $15 on a Phoenix win, and $5 on Phoenix HT/FT.

Suffice to say I was a little annoyed when we lost those last 2 goals...

Yeah he did. The challenge is in that clip. Ifill cuts beautifully through two Gold Coast players then Thwaite chops him down.

not going to read to much in to this result due to the conditions but we did get bossed a bit in the midfield.

Their second goal was a farce...Culina was allowed to almost run onto our goal line without anyone near him!

And the equaliser...for one Hearfield does not even put in a challenge to stop the cross, and then one of the smaller guys on the park gets up and scores a header.

Poor stuff really. Hopefully North can help address this, we really did miss McKain in there.

I don't think taking Dylan off was the problem  - it was moving Manny - as soon as Disco went to RB Porter came into the game much more - not having a crack at Troy but Muscat seemed to have Porter in his pocket

Porter could've scored 2 or 3
