Hi everyone,

I'll be emailing this around soon too hopefully but I'd really appreciate some help from travelling Feverites who will be in Dunedin by lunchtime on Saturday.I'll be emailing this around soon too hopefully but I'd really appreciate some help from travelling Feverites who will be in Dunedin by lunchtime on Saturday.I'll be emailing this around soon too hopefully but I'd really appreciate some help from travelling Feverites who will be in Dunedin by lunchtime on Saturday.

Can you help out your Club by walking down George Street with Nixie and a Dixie Band handing out flyers and spreading the word about the Phoenix game? Can you help out your Club by walking down George Street with Nixie and a Dixie Band handing out flyers and spreading the word about the Phoenix game? Can you help out your Club by walking down George Street with Nixie and a Dixie Band handing out flyers and spreading the word about the Phoenix game?

The plan currently is for this Fever Friday style procession to start at Frederick Street and walk down George Street to the Octagon. The distance is only around 900m and should take nor more than 20 minutes at a pace which allows handing out of flyers to lunchtime shoppers.

I'm really hoping we can get at least 4 volunteers for this so we can have at least 2 on each side of the street. The procession would finish up in the Octagon by around 12:45pm, in time for the "Festival of Football" to kick off at 1pm.

If you are able to confirm yourself and/or your mates for this, could you please let me know? Email is dunedinphoenix (at) icloud (dot) com

Thanks everyone.

Final call for tickets for this match.

Also if you haven't already done so, please email me your flight details as I will be matching up Feverites for shared transfers and will finalise these soon with everyone.

If you have forwarded me your flight details then please check your email for the Jaguar lottery results.

If you were one of the lucky ones, I've managed to match you up with other Feverites travelling on the same flights and sent you details about how to go about booking a Jag for your transfer.

It's not quite too late if you haven't already emailed me so if there are any last minute flight bookings please let me know your itinerary and I'll try to sort you out with others. dunedinphoenix (at) icloud (dot) com

I'm still getting the odd enquiry about Yellow Fever group booking for tickets too so if you need tickets please give me a shout soon!

Have got a space for you on a Jaguar Limo transfer if you are. Please let me know ASAP! Cheers :)

I like the sound of that.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Apart from the march, what's the plans for pub-pre-match?  I'm available from 10am...

I am trying to negotiate breakfast and drink deals. Don't say I don't try to look after you. TBC soon but it will be Octagon based and handy for March to Match. Will be pre and post venue.

Telfer saying on the radio they've only sold 800 tickets.  Very poor.  Apart from Legend Ahmad, is there advertising being done down there?

Permalink Permalink

Sorry my fault, I have to pop down and buy 7.

Lots of advertising including water cleaning paths and walls with signs.

There has been a lot on and between O week, Highlanders, Warrioirs.. Will pick up towards end of the week.

If fine will get a big walk up crowd.

I'm not privy to any insider or privileged information but my feelers detect disappointingly poor sales. Parents just don't seem to be buying into this one despite football being such a hugely popular sport among children here.

The forecast is for rain on Sunday. Definitely won't help the walk-up, and someone even cursed when I showed him the forecast.

Not to be critical at all because it's easy to fire shots from the sidelines but I am not really sure that you can call it "lots of advertising". I saw nothing whatsoever walking from University to the Octagon and back today while handing out flyers. Absolutely zero. Oska (cheers bro for volunteering to hand out flyers in your tight lunch time) said he saw some stuff scrawled on a pavement on campus but that's about all he can recall - and remember we are just the kind of people who would be watching out for any bit of advertising.

There has certainly be stuff on radio if you listen to the right station, and if you still buy the newspaper I'm sure there is something in that too. But there is nothing on the streets I could see. Perhaps it's a budget issue - I don't know what the budget is but it is probably low given the rumoured ticket sales :(

Here are some photos I took around the city and campus. You can see that there is more promotion about the upcoming ukelele orchestra than the Nix (and people we handed out flyers too did seem genuinely keen at the prospect of the match this weekend). The only place in the city I found any mention of the Nix was in the mall that has a signing session (this has only just been confirmed and the banner just installed).

Well done mate, thanks for the update.

Must say I am surprised that prospect of a few showers affecting crowd. It is an indoor stadium FFS. Have Southern people gone soft? lol

Hopefully Saturday will give it a big push when people see the silky skills on Display in the Octagon.

Good stuff Ahmad.  Keep up the good work.  Need more people like you down there in the South fighting the good fight.

Remember this is an FFA organised round, not a Phoenix organised event. Nix have a game Wed night 7 pm to 9 pm then the staff have to strip and pack the stadium signage for Dunedin before they leave that night so it can make the freight deadlines. Let alone get the playing gear to Dunedin. The local volunteers in both Wgtn and (Ahmad) Dunedin do a great job.

I hear what you're saying Blew.2. Wouldn't it be in their best interest to tweet or facebook (today maybe not being a good day for that) that there is a game coming up.

It won't be a good look if 1000 people turn up.  I think that would be the end of Dunedin getting a regional round.

I had heard student were offered tickets as part of O week package but cannot confirm.  Ahmad may know more, but all they have to do is beat Auckland. I don't believe the locals will let the game slid.  I suggested they get the Highlanders bird out to duke it out with Nixie, (wrong PR) but get the 2 together.

Nix not included in O-week. Don't think Warriors was. Unsure about Highlanders (Zoo sold out 5000 for that one)

. They may not want to promote Sunday until after Wednesday night and confuse people,  remember TV audience is measured by  FFA. So saying Tuesday to catch Sundays game may have would be viewers not turn on for we'd night

Who are we talking about? FFA or Dunedin Stadium?

There should by right have been a much bigger uptake by Dunedin so far.

This needs to be hammered NOW not Thursday. Oh well.

Permalink Permalink

It is an FFA event and stadium is just a venue provider. But the Dunedin council tendered for the event I believe so should have some marketing responsibility?

They do. But you said maybe they are waiting until after Wed to promote - why? The Wed game won't matter to locals (except that if we lose the sales will be even poorer).

Come on Dunedin we risk being a total embarrassment.
