As long as he is only at the Breakers games and kept far away from the Phoenix, I don't care.

Assuming it will be at the expense of Dani, this makes me sad, but look forward to seeing what Cernak can offer.

Could be Boyd making way rather than Dani? Depends if Ricki see's Cernak as a wide midfielder or a central one.

YES!!! Sanchez has been a passenger fo the last few games.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Just purchased 9 tickets. How/where can I see PAX on the Ticketmaster printable tickets?

Report from open training: About 30 pax there. Who's #15? Didn't recognize him. Surprised to see Lochy there. Greeny doing lots of passing drills. The shooting drills were not encouraging. Huysegems screamed when he missed; Totori fell over at one point. Tyler Boyd was running around like a mad thing. Must say that Mossy looked sharper than Pasty.

Afterwards:

ME: "Hi Glen, I'm a keeper and you're a big inspiration."

GLEN MOSS: "You're crazy!"

ME: "That's what they keep telling me on the forums."

15 is Lindsay, not surprising you don't recognise him.

Also: Ricki yelling at Ian Hogg to stay onside. We'll see if he remembers tomorrow.

I'm sure there must be more to it than just the straight dialogue you are reporting!

No, that's pretty much verbatim. I talked to Pasty as well and he just asked me who I played for.

Maybe Totori thought it was a competitive game not a drill. Did he stop playing and appealed to the ref?
Also, not surprised about Mossy. He will be training out of his skin to get his chance!

Oh, one more thing. They repeatedly tried to do a move where Sanchez did a long high pass to Bertos on the wing. It went over Leo's head every single time. #anotherbadsign

Breakers atmosphere  > Phoenix atmosphere though

At an Eden Park which is half empty? Not convinced, tbh

Brendan Telfer said that the Nix fans could learn something from the Breakers fans????  He said it's like a rock concert when the breakers play.

I wasn't at the game at Eden Park last year, so not sure what the atmosphere was like.  If he hasn't been to the Nix real home how can he say the atmosphere is better at the Breakers matches?

We don't need thundersticks and music.

Waffles seemed to be in a good mood at training today, as did Cernak (I said "Welcome to NZ" to the latter).

Did you tell Pasty that you love him in a special goalkeeper way?

hmm interesting if both cernak & huysegems are starting.
Everything I have heard from the club is that they see him as a central attacking midfielder.

So based on those two points above, I could see:

                     Moss
Bertos Sigmund Durante Hogg
                     Muscat
          Sanchez   Cernak
Ifill            Huysegems    Fenton

Seems like playing two attacking central mids is not gonna happen, but thats essentially what they did last week with fenton.

Think Brockie has been poor in most games of late - Boyd will be dangerous off of the bench if he gets a chance to play central where he really has looked the best imo

I would love to see this! give cernak and sanchez a chance to work some magic, should see some decent ball to feet action from the middle of the park to Waffles too.

I'm with the Prof on this, seeing Cernak, Sanchez & Waffles together could be really good, especially if they use the ball on the ground. (I wouldn't be surprised to see Brockie in place of Fenton though).

Of course the cynic in me is thinking that even if the team lines up that way we will still see too many far post crosses to Mr. Invisible.

This would be and interesting starting team- a pity that it isn't round 3! Any team without Ifill is really a gonner for us. We should have been ok without him, but no one really put up their hand with him away.

Does anyone else think this is too attack heavy though which may explain why other teams have been strolling through our vacant midfield and making the back four look exposed by getting no protection from the mids.

Manny has been away. now he's back, and we are hoping Cernak can tackle and cover as well as Fenton did.

Sanchez and Boyd can go for Cernak and Stein.

Play the 4-4-2 with the diamond midfield of Muscat, Cernak and Fenton and Ifill running the touch lines. Stein and Brockie can fight for scraps.

hope brockie isnt starting to be honest. I perfer a striker who can conrtribute to the build up on attack, and help out on defense

I think also think that looks light with Sanchez and Cernak, I didnt think Cernak was much on the tackle last weekend. Would love to be proved wrong tho

I understand people's thoughts on it being too attacking in midfield, but really it then comes down to if we want the three man midfield do you play Sanchez or Lia/Smith? I would rather have Sanchez, admittedly, I would line him up deeper and tell him to sit not far in front of Manny to help get the ball from the back to Cernak/Ifill/Fenton.

yeah that lineup is based on cernak starting, and the fact we did something very similar last week - no lia or smith in there for "defense"

Also think its a bit naive to say cernak cant defend - as last week he did cover a decent amount of space in the middle of the park, and its not like a player can only attack or defend, and nothing in between

I know it is only one match but I watched particularly for that and was dissapointed. Time will tell.

So trains are't running this weekend so they put on buses instead. But according to the replacement bus timetable, the only buses after the game are every hour from 7:07pm.

edit: might be wrong on that front. There is a bullet point not on the timetable that says buses will leave as required.

There's special information about the game here: http://www.maxx.co.nz/info/events/wellington-phoenix-vs-perth-glory.aspx
Looks like they will just be running as many buses as they need to carry all the people.
