Yep I'm the same. It's a horrible thing to hope for, but a little part of me wants it. Another part of me wants a big turnout to support the team.
As a Nix and NZ football supporter I hope they get 30000 fans.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
In a lot of respects, because the 7s is a draw card nationally for an annual event, the casual supporter that may have come to the Phoenix may well have been committed to the 7s. At least the 7s date is well forecast (prior to A League draw) and you have to get organised for that such is the dearth of flights, accom etc very early on.
Granted they are different sporting audiences but I am talking about the casual sporting observer (like Melbourne folk) that will go to any thing. I am not holding out hopes for a large crowd relative to last years. Perhaps 12k?
I also think having a common meeting point will help galvanise the fans that want to treat it as an all day affair (including the out of towners from Perth that I read were coming over). At the moment, there is not a consensus on where to meet before or after. Is it Kiwitea or Foxes, (someone mentioned the Kingslander who had a shit attitude last year I believe) and after is it Sky City or Foxes. (Sky City will probably be a bit tougher on those that have drunk a fair bit but Foxes will be filled with 7s fans)
Grumpy old bastard alert
I don't think it'd be perceived that way. That kind of happened last time didn't it? They put cheap tickets up on grabone. Just ended up annoying me because they never did that sort of thing here, and Auckland got to lord a decent one off crowd over us, due to the novelty factor and cheap tickets.
I hope Terry shows up like he did at the last Eden Park game, but only if AJ13 isn't going to beat him up and call his girlfriends rude names.
But seriously... do you guys also hope the Dunedin game flops? Or if it was in Hamilton? Isn't this just mindless JAFAphobia?

From experience, casual sports observers are more likely to stay at home and watch the sevens, rather than go to the Stadium. Tickets are too expensive and there's nobody else there to watch the rugby as everyone is just there to drink and party. I think there's more chance that people will choose to stay home and watch the 7s instead of coming to the Nix rather than travel down to Wellington.

Yah, this is what I meant to say. It is very much in the back of my mind, but its there.
There will be a contigent at Kiwitea Street.
There will be a further contingent at The Fox.
End of an era. Vinnie - It's over.

No trains....wow! When things conspire to go bad for the Nix....they really go bad.
Arrived in Auckland for the match and jacked up a whole lot of rellies and friends to come to the game. No buses and lots of them say they won't go now. Reckon the buses will be majorly overcrowded and some of them don't do buses.
So as a non Aucklander do we go round the back of Britomart and look for buses with Eden Park on them or is there some sort of number system or what suburb/street do we get off and where in relation to the park.
This is a real shame.....one thing about marketing.....if things appear difficult or a hassle for your target market lots of them won't buy into it. But I hope I am wrong and there is 20,000 plus.
Yea its stuffed my plans - train station at the top of the street direct to Kingsland would've worked perfectly.
If you need to check on bus timetables use the Journey Planner on www.maxx.co.nz

Should have a fan trail :P

A cab from Quay St, next to Britomart, to Eden Park would be about 20 bucks. Split it.
"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...
I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...
Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...
Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."
Here is all the bus information. Still, austin10's rellies who "don't do buses" are, sadly, exactly the kind of Aucklanders we don't need.
So reading that, they are not operating from Britomart?
Grumpy old bastard alert
I hate busses too. Fair enough.

It's Perth, they don't have any strikers. We'll be fine.

Quoted for potential blame later.

Have the overlords picked a pub yet? Just trying to organise auckland people and it depends if we're drinking in town or by Eden park before the game. I want to be with the YF before hand
