I don't have tickets to the Fever Zone, as My mother works for Hyundai and got free tickets. Will it be okay to still stand in there or are people going to be anal about there seats

I don't think the place will be packed so you should be all right.

At least one of the girls on my Gaelic football team is going, and was surprised to hear I was playing for Auckland Fever in goal.

Someone buying tickets in the Fever Zone today was told that the Zone was almost sold out, so I'm not sure how successful you will be NHpeter, worth a shot at getting in though.

Doloras, I'm looking forward to putting a hattrick of goals past you ;)

450 tickets sold so far

The club only just posted it on their facebook, so hopefully ticket sales spike up before midnight.

Cheers Patrick, will try our luck. i hope people realize that it is standing int he zone and none of this shit that has happened in previous years

I'm thinking it'll happen again personally. Way easier for security just to tell people to sit, than the other way round.

If it gets to bad we can do what happened in Chch pre-season and move to an empty section and make our own Fever Zone (with blackjack and hookers).

Should be. But surely one of the first things you learn in life is that people are not smart.

Egan, Tom is flying out ( from Perth) tonight and will try to catch up with you on Friday night.

He did try ringing you.

I did ask him why he would fly so far too see his team lose ?

His comment was because the kiwi's are good to drink with.

I almost ended up in a scrap in the FZ last Eden Park game, trying to defend my right to stand up!

I suspect I would react the same way.

If all else fails, a rousing rendition of 'Stand up if you love your cat' is sure to get them onto their feet.

It'd be nice to have that extra 1000 people through grab one at a wellington game sometime.

Slightly different for a 1 off game, than a regular game tho. And we did have a buy 1 get 1 free deal.

bothers me that this auckland game seems to be receiving more advertising than the rest of the welly games combined.

first time nix twitter has been so informative and cheap tickets and load of information for fans about the team

I can understand that to some degree. Wellington folk know that the games are most Sundays at Westpac. Not many Aucklanders may know a 1 off is on in Auckland. Can't say I condone not marketing all games but I think I can understand why.

No they don't. They know the Phoenix exist and that they are bottom of the table but that's about it.

yeah the nix twitter has been going off heaps lately - which is a great thing!

except we get such rubbish generally - biggest example is when nix players were at new world and we get an "oh yeah the guys are here " tweet once they are already there - whereas all the auckland appearances are well documented this week along with heaps of pics and tweets.

Well 6000 odd know when the games are on,but what effort goes in to getting another 4000 people along. If a crowd of over 15000 turn up on Sat(and I hope we break 20000), then I have a feeling more games will go outside of Wellington next season.

This begs the question, if they can promote the Auckland game like this, why don't they do it in Wellington?

Just saw the game being advertised in the Warehouse in Manukau. Nice.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Surely putting nearly all of your marketing and effort into a game outside of Wellington is a short term benefit. Wouldn't it be better in the long term to put resources and effort into getting people along in Wellington. As the fever we do fever Friday, what do the club do?

With out trying to offend anyone, would many PI's come along? Is that the right targetted marketing when South Auckland is a typical league strong hold. I guess some SI residents may come along. I would have thought that belt from New Lynn, down through Onehunga, Sandringham, Mt Roskill, Mt Albert (where you could throw a blanket over about 7 football clubs) through to the Ellerslie, Mt Wellington out east way would have been the place to put the advertising as thats where most of the clubs are.

for some reason the marketing of games each week seems to have fallen off the radar. Besides the YF noise in Wellington the Nix have never really been marketed that well, there's the odd radio add, but ntohing truely remarkable. Even Gloria Jeans is more visible than the nix.

The apartment building on lower Taranaki street still has the poster for the match against Brisbane Roar advertised.

Advertising in Wellington is very poor.

a) There are people in South Auckland who're not "PI"'s, amazingly enough. People of Indian subcontinent heritage as well as Pakeha people are mainstays of the football clubs down there.
b) Many PIs play football, particularly for Onehunga-Mangere AFC.
c) You could "throw a blanket" over about seven football clubs from Manukau City. Off the top of my head, there's 3 in Papatoetoe, 2 in Manurewa, 1 in Otara and then MCAFC itself.;
