Its obvious but they have done a fairly decent job of keeping the reasons under wraps and largely out of mainstream media (i.e. its not getting that much headlines as a reason) and I say that because we are all speculating and no one really has anything firm.

I hope Ifill decides to stay in NZ ala Steve Price. Perhaps contribute to football in NZ in some manner.

This - using the Nix to retain quality after theyve finished on the field (ie Greenacre) is something we should be gunning for. Ifill has arguably more experience than anyone we've ever had at the club, would be a huge loss to not retain that in some form or another. And not just for the Nix but for NZ Football

Agree, he always gives good answers to questions, and isn't phased by talking to the media like some (*cough* Manny *cough)

I remember during or after a game, his fiancé tweeted "sports psychology #justsayin"

Suggests a confidence thing. But meh, this is all just speculation

He's been through all the injury crap and now his form has dipped and he's trying to play himselg back into form in a team who are playing like shit, with all the off-field crap going on as well. I think it's not that surprising he's not exactly signing and dancing too much at the moment

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

He's always great when he's on TV so yeah for sure media-wise he'd be great. Would he be a better coach than Greenacre? Whatever his plans our for life after football, probably about time he started thinking about it.

Let's face it. He's the guy that sparked this whole thing up on the field for us. Have no idea if he wants to get into coaching stuff, but if he did, I'd have him tomorrow.

I'd turn for that man.

The problem I have got is that players should be 100% loyal to the coach and team(in public anyway) and all these tweets are not helping.

Imagine if this sort of crap was going on with Man Utd/Arsenal etc., the player would be out the door.

Just want our club to win the A League, and preferably in my lifetime. I watched that WSW v MV tape again. Neither side at their peak yet. Ange will get the defenders he wants. Pop has jigaw sorted and its' "scary" what he will achieve when he can handpick Oz players. Herbert is not in this league. Neither is our club.

How is this related to Paul Ifill?

Because Ifill is the guy ( given owners money go round issues) to turn this thing around - IF he wants a post footy career in coaching/management. If Pop can do it, Ifill certainly can. However he may have other ideas post footy. Did notice body language last game when Ifill was subbed. No Ricky handshake. RH looked the other way. However am not the guy to ask about that stuff as do it for a living.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know Ifill has coaching certs required for a league managers position...... FFS some of the people on here talk out their arses. No wonder traffic has dropped.

My point was just that we need change OK. Am aware of the quals thing. RH has no future here, and you will see again this weekend.

P.S. and the reason that traffic has dropped is like the crowds sadly. We are becoming non significant.

I noticed a tweet a few weeks back when the whole Gareth thing was hot. I thought it was clear that Paul wasn't happy at all with someone high up in the team but wanted to ignore it at the time and hoped it would go away. Seems it was signalling more of the same sadly. :/

Agree. Just need a solution that's all. Like I said before. Watching WSW v Mel V is like light years from where we at. Hate the RH combo AW/Nix thing, though thru circumstances couldn't have happened any other way. A strong Oz front of house influence is the only way out here. Tony P was a big loss.

Unusually, I agree with Leggy. Obviously Ifill has his reasons and they may be valid, but it's not a good look to see your star player publicly voicing his discontent and not even trying on the park. Unless he's carrying an injury we don't know about his sulky, disinterested performance in the last few games has been hard to take. He's a tremendous player but I really hope he bucks up his ideas and starts leading by example again soon.

Anyway, leaving aside the petty name calling and getting back to Iffzinho... heard him on RS yesterday arvo and he seemed pretty much exactly as you'd expect. Disappointed and frustrated, both at his own form and that of the team. Sounds like they've tried different things, the work is being done but they're just not getting a break.

The best thing we can do is get well liquidated (thanks YF/BB) before the game tomorrow and let Iffy and all the boys know we're right behind them - and always will be... the form will turn - we just hope it's tomorrow!

yep. And this leads me to wonder if an out of sorts Ifill and Brockie have been part of the problem this year, along with Gareth Morgan. We've seen both of them disagreeing publicly with the coach and/or management. (and don't get me wrong I think Ifill is God)

Sure it's tough for the team when things are down- but being professional means you don't do those things. I think Brockie is potentially a really good player, but he also has a tendency to pick up stupid yellows when the game isn't going well and do little niggly fouls.

Ifill's tweeting is not very good. Either he tweets as professional footballer or he keeps it more private. Maybe some tweets have a private topic and get interpreted as a football issue. We don't know.

This is far more likely to be the problem for players like Vinny Lia than it is for Ifill.

"We've talked about it between the boys that you need the personal responsibility and we've always had that," he said.

"I've had a few arguments with Dura (captain Andrew Durante) and Vinnie (Lia) and the likes over the last couple of weeks. But it shows you still care.

"It's tough because at the moment I don't think anyone is particularly doing their job. It's hard to have a go at your mate for not doing his job if you're not doing yours.

"It's tough. It's not a nice time at the club at the moment. But I've been in this position before and normally you do come out of it."

Ifill concedes the team is just not playing well enough – and hasn't done for much of the season.

The playmaker is unhappy with his form and is frustrated that he hasn't scored in open play this season. He has two penalties to his credit.

I think towards the end there was one point where I reckon he coulda had a go and scored the 3rd but cut back and passed it to Lochhead who just ended up giving it back to them.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Ifill was definitely getting his mojo back today.

Was getting better and better as the game wore on.

I just hope that he isn't feeling frustrated that he couldn't find the final ball/shot, but instead confident in what he is doing and ready to keep trying on Wednesday.
