Interesting assesment. Aside from Rojas hes been the only one who has looked threatening.

He hasn't played as well as he did last season, but still manages to be one of the better players in the side.

if hes one of the better players atm, thats pretty sad. all hes done lately is lose the ball and take weak meaningless shots. apart from the match where he scored 2 goals a few weeks ago, hes been useless

Sorry, but you're an idiot. Has still easily been our best player and was ripping teams a part only 2 or 3 games ago. Is also our highest scorer despite not playing to his potential.

I think your last line echos the previous thread.

Ifill has been poor by his standards.

I think there are several players who would love to be good enough to reach Ifill's standards when he's not playing at his best

I want Ifill to be there

But when he is on the park every one wants to pass him the ball and for him to do some magic. When he is not there they are more of a team and they don't just look for that one individual player. Which I think they play better football.

Don't get me wrong if you had a player like Ifill in your team of course you would look for him

Poor by his standards is still better than the rest of the team

He was poor up until about half way through (though even then he was right up there in the goal scoring charts)

sorry, i didnt know fluffing shots, moaning and beating a defender 25% of the time was that good.

Obviously looking at the negatives. How about his goal scoring record?

yes i acknowledge his goal scoring record and its impressive considering how awful hes been lately. even though most of those goals came at the start of the season. how many has he scored in the last 10 matches? 2 or 3?

I haven't scored any, but that's because I'm a 'keeper.

I'm in a bit of a dry spell at the moment but I think that's largely due to Movember and the fact I kept the dirty Mo for a few extra weeks. Before that I had a good run, scoring most weekends.

What has Ekoh's opinion of Ifill got to do with him scoring goals?

I disagree that  Ifill has been poor, when they played in Christchurch, he was controlling the park. brettdale2010-12-22 19:37:38

Jesus christ what a stupid argument. He only beats players 25% of the time? Is that supposed to be bad? And what part of your ass did you pull that stat out of?

In other news, Ifill will be out for the rest of the regular season now as he has to keep his leg in a cast for 2 weeks before the 6 weeks rehabvaleo2010-12-22 23:19:59

Maybe we'll start winning 5-0 now with some players who beat others at least 50% of the time, and get shots on target every time.

I guess that will please Llama man seeing as Ifill was the guy holding the Phoenix back from being top of the ladder.

What is it about kiwi sports fans who can't wait to put the boot into players?
Ifill is without doubt the best player who has ever pulled on a Nix shirt. He's topped the goal scoring and single handedly won heaps of games for Nix. He is the first to admit that this season he is not consistently as good as last season. So what do you want?....do you want him to bugger off back to the UK? Class is permanent....form is temporary.

I'll bet there are heaps of so called fans who can't wait until Rojas has a bad game so they can stick the knives into him too!!!

crazy talk on this thread ifill starts every game if he can hobble onto the pitch, end of
Permalink Permalink

To be fair the crazy talk is only coming from a tiny minority, but as usual they are the ones who get noticed. Ifill is held in high regard by supporters of other clubs precisely because of his undoubted quality as a player.

Also it's not a specific trait of Kiwis to "put the boot in" - Aussies do it all the time and with extreme prejudice. The way those moronic Sydney 'fans' treated an admittedly out of form John Aloisi is one example. The treatment by thick witted Tards of Mossy another.

Its quite clear Ifills been playing this season with some minor injuries, this 8 weeks off could benefit us quite a bit I'd prefer him to be playing tho thats for sure easily the best player in the team

To be fair Aloisi and Moss were horrid at Syd/Melb.

Even when Elrich was at his worst Nix fans never subjected him to the kind of abuse Aloisi copped. As for Mossy, I disagree. He wasn't outsatnding but he wasn't that bad either. He was the scapegoat for some very poor defending, not to mention a victim of Muscat's public vote of no confidence.

Leo hasn't exactly been a fan favourite this year either. I've even had comments made to me while wearing my Bertos shirt by so called Phoenix "fans" to the extent that I won't wear it on match days now.

Didn't LF1 say then whenever Ifill scores a goal we don't lose? He's a consumate professional and will be missed on game day.

Yeah, but he lost that record when he scored in the 3-1 loss to GCU earlier this season.

You don't want to let other 'fans' stop you wearing that shirt.

Yeah. Just tell them to shut the f**k up and they should be grateful you're not wearing your Elrich shirt....

On that note I was watching some old highlights a few days ago and watched the game where George claimed one of Smeltz's goals - when he just got smacked in the head by the keeper. Hilarious. What a player.
