I think this is potentially a superb signing. Off to the TAB before they cotton on.

Already done.

Just need Scowcroft up front with him.

I noted that. Yes. Please. Tony

Too late - gone to Leyton Orient I think.

Correct!

how many years did he sign for?? I can't find info on that.
Also, I agree with those who think that we still need a target man.
but I disagree with those who aren't happy because a talented attacking midfielder can only help our cause. Maybe Ricky is trying to turn us into a "normal" team, where everyone scores a little, not just one guy who scores 20+ goals out of 40 in two seasons.

From what their fans said all he was interested in was his pay packet and showed lack of effort. Maybe he fancies a holiday here in NZ?

That's not what I took from comments I saw. Must be a half-full half-empty thing.

at six foot he's not a small lad, so when he scores a few in one match will we see the headline

Great to sign another decent player. I assume that the Phoenix is planning on playing him up front (even if he usually plays winger as many of you say)?

I'd dare say he'd be playing more of a central distribution role in behind the forwards (Greenacre/Costa) and linking up with Brown and Co. out of Central midfield.

Just my opinion mind you...

Could see Diego as a DM like he played at Adelaide and Ifill further up the field behind the forwards??

McKain and Durante at CB with Siggy at Right back (though obviously McKain has been class at DM i'm not sure if he can handle it without Brown alongside. If we could somehow merge McKain and Brown into one player we'd have a damn good CM )

Or the Headline after he was questioned about the legacy of Shane Smeltz...

Ifill see clearly now the Shane has gone!

Positionally ludicrous, but Ifill Potty with Brown has a ring to it.

That's it from me.

Now we really need to sign Potty.

I can hear the commentary as he exchanges passes with Ifill...

"Ifill, Potty..."

Fantastic signing IMO.

Congratulations Ricki Tony and co. You had a recruitment plan for this season and you have delivered. Despite the widespread angst by many in YF(myself included) you kept your nerve and got the players who will make significant impact.

This guy is a seasoned pro who has played a significant number of games at a higher level than the A_League. Plus he has had a 10 games and scored 6 goals at international level. He will cause problems for A_League defenders;

The pieces have fallen together nicely. Our side looks very balanced. Season 2 we fixed the defence. We now have a good looking attack.

What I really like about the Greenacre and Ifill signings are you are getting two guys who have done the business at a good level. Its not recruit and hope. The A_league involves much fewer games per season than they were playing in the UK. They should thrive on the smaller work load. Some have questioned the injuries but in reality the huge numbers of games these guys play means its very hard to shake of niggling injuries.

I,m rapt.....can,t wait til the season starts.....wooden spooners...my ar**se

Very embarrassing if true and would not be a good start at all (even if he does end up coming here)

And when did the news filter through about us signing him? About the same time, did it not?

Albion are his local club so i'm a bit worried about this

After the Porter fiasco surely we would've dotted the Is and crossed the Ts before officially announcing the signing.

Soccernet, football365 & a-league.com all have the transfer news - hopefully they are more reliable.

Probably he was set up for the trial a week or so ago, but has signed for us in the meantime. Technically nothing to stop him playing. Keeping options open for 18 months down the track (I hope).

Saw this on the BBC Website about 7 hours ago.

Doesn't mean anything really! Keep in mind too that its only Tuesday Morning in Brighton so its not like he's going to come off as a sub at half time to sign a contract!
