More thoughts on Ifill. Same stuff. Quite negative.

Apparently we were chasing a different Palace player at first. Scowcroft?

Consensus seems to be he has plenty of ability and has played and proven himself at a level significantly higher than the A-League but attitude is not always what it should be.

Let's hope we have the team leadership and culture to get the best out of him and he is reinvigorated by the change of scenery.

I think (pray) he'll bang in a few early on and get on a roll.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Mate that's a bit tough, when Judas was brought to the Phoenix, and more importantly, given a run by Ricki against Wales I thought Ricki was taking the piss, based on Shane not being able to score a penalty in front of an open goal at a level lower even then maybe the NZFC and look what happened there.

Give him time before you slate him yeah.

As stated.."I remain hard to plse".....I havent slated Ifill..was just commenting that the stated record is not that impressive but that there is promise.  That promise may well have been stiffled by him playing attacking mid not striker or feeding off the main striker and therefore may now be fulfiilled....I also noted he wasnt a stated target man...and having read all the posts and other 'net info noted he wasnt that highly rated.  The reality is that we buy scraps ( acronym for shrewd buys) which hopefully turn out to be gems..we are not buying top rated players at their peak for big money.  $ wise he was more highly rated than Smeltz or any others we have captured I presume. What we are getting may well be very good..and we certainly need goals.

I've seen Ifill play and he looked pretty good to me. If he stays he fit he's a GOOD signing.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

how could he not stay fit? wouldnt the nix make sure that he is top level ftness, if he is at the club? its not like its ammatuer football where he would have to go for a run for his own benifit?

Well from what we've seen on youtube and from the CP fan, Eyefill firees in rockets long range. From what we've seen on youtube and from the man himself, Greenacre like the 6 yard scraps. So Eyefill fires them in, Greenacre there to feed on leftovers.
Now just a targetman to come.

Costa must be feeling like there's another one of those seasons coming up.....

I reckon that with a squad of only 20, he and Marco will see more time than there has been before.  It's only going to take a couple of injuries and they are on the bench, from there you make your own luck.

Plus Costa has shown he's growing in to it with every chance he gets.

I've never been shy to say Costa was never up to it in seasons 1 and 2. What my head is now telling me is that with Greenacre and Ifill here, Costa may well fit nicely. If he can run at the defences and Greenacre is always thereabouts, with Ifill in behind then it may be a good option.
I wait with anticipation of the club seeking another striker, but they may well be not until the season is underway as with the players we have, we've got a start. I think we're obsessed with the target man thing. If we have the above combo with Leo included then it looks ok

News, you've said that an attacking midfielder was never an option with the last few signings but it looks like that's what Ifill is, unless the intention is to play him up front.

All the reports seem to say we're going to play him up front (hope it comes off).  Also, we'll sign another player as we'll get fined if we don't have twenty.

He's supposedly a Striker and I am totally all for it, but if he fades out of position a lot, then why not play him in the mids where he performs best. This guy has the ability to really become a star in the A-League.
And when it comes to losing AW players, he can drop back into mids if needed.

Now just the one out and out striker to go.Chen sounds good, but I'm thinking maybe we push on again for someone more experienced.  I'm really hoping this last guy will be as classy as Greenacre and Ifill

We will need them for round 5!..plenty of strike power for that game at this stage.

Agree that Costa looked good in the Porirua games..albeit he must pass more than take on another defender and lose it..if he gets it naer halway and passes a few defenders and gets it to Greenacre we will be sweet.

Maybe Potty is what we still need not a fast striker...

Wonder if Politics will win out tho and the Chinese player is signed.
