Just wondering if anyone knows roughly how much A-League coaches make? Like how much would Uffie earn or someone like Greenie?

just really curious and interested

Don't know but I'd expect Darije to not only be our shortest non caretaker style coach but also our most expensive.

wasn't the shortest - he was 1.84m, Ricki was 1.8m

Horoscope: inauspicious year for coaches with a first name Ernie, Markus or Marco.

Interesting that Rory is coming home.  I thought him and his wife (a pom) had a successful ice cream business based out of Plymouth (great icecream too by UK standards).  Covid restrictions here (UK) must have killed it off.

Also, is it just me or Greenie being slowly sidelined by the Nix?

Surely his NZF role has something to do with this?

Greenacre was made head coach of the academy just a few weeks ago.

The fact that he's not over with the team in Australia might be down to quite a few things, including his role in the academy, but he potentially didn't want to spend another season away from his family.

I was just looking through the press release when he was given the role and they said that the academy has grown from 2-3 staff a few years ago to 20, so appointing people like Rory into coaching roles in the academy aren't sidelining Greenacre but is a response to the fact that Greenacre is spread too thin as he's still an assistant in the first team, and also the fact that the academy is growing.

The Academy has over 20 staff now! Wow thats a lot of resources and surely paints a rosy long term future for the club.

I guess new ALW side has seen some expansion in girls part of the Academy.

Nix home page has Greenie very much sidelined.

Not listed as first teamer at all and only U21 coach under other coaches.  Sounds like being sidelined to me.

Rory has a different role in the club entirely so not taking Greenie's role (not sure how some have drawn that conclusion).  Also with most AW games in the middle East for the time being, being based in the UK would be more useful to NZF then in Wellington, especially with NZs Covid travel restrictions.

Sounds like a role shift. This press release from the Nix definitely paints Greeny and the role he plays at the club in a very shining light

At this point, I would much rather them give it to him rather than the coach the club recruits. The coaches they have recruited over the years have been underwhelming.
Plus, the man sure does know how to turn things around at a football club.
