If there were other people listed as directors of "Investnix", then that would be real news. As it is, we already knew that. I still want to know about Consortium Two, aka the Sinister Seven.

Maybe you could get 8 others from Lower Hut and call yourselves the Naenae Nine!

I find it somewhat strange there are two different consortiums. Would it not be cheaper for them to all work together? Is there some reason some of them will not work with others? Do they have different vision for the club? Still, at least it shows there is enough interest in what Terry has founded to assure us it will continue which can only be good news.

I pondered J82's vehicular issues and have formulated a solution;
Swap your car for Terry's Ferrari as suggested, and then fit a towbar. Borrow a trailer from Mitre 10 when you need to move bikes etc. Simple, yet elegant I think.

All good until you need to reverse park with the trailer on Grandadi...

This whole number thing is appropriate, as in some areas Terry is known as the notorious Gang of One.

From a Herald article today, the Five seem to be the frontrunners

"Ricki Herbert is being given plenty of space by New Zealand Football as he contemplates his future at club and international level.

Further ructions within the Wellington Phoenix camp this week have only muddied the waters as the national body attempts to sort out its future with Herbert, as long-serving All Whites coach, seen as pivotal.

Herbert is expected to take an overall role with the national under-23 team as they plan their Olympic bid and has been given until today togive NZF chief executive Grant McKavanagh an answer on what that involvement will be.

McKavanagh, who had a meeting in Wellington this week with the so-called "Phoenix Five" - a consortium being touted as the likely standard bearers should Terry Serepisos fail to come up with the money needed to keep the A-League club afloat, pointed out that Herbert has a contract to coach the Phoenix until the end of the 2012-2013 season.

Any other projects would have to fit around that as has been done in the past with Serepisos' blessing.

Asked whether Football Federation Australia, who were represented at the meeting in Wellington, were keen for the Phoenix to remain in the A-League, McKavanagh said that was very much the case.

"Without doubt the FFA want a New Zealand team in the league," he said. "They are very respectful of what Terry Serepisos has done for the club and see him as one of the more progressive owners in the league.

"New Zealand Football's line remains very much as it has been from the outset. We see real value in having a professional team in New Zealand and playing in the A-League but that is the extent of our involvement. It is a private team run by private individuals. We just hope the whole matter can be sorted out."

Investnix is a really, really bad play on words. And completely impossible to create a chant for.

If one of those rival consortia is who I think they are, I wouldn't let them clean my boots, let alone take care of the Nix.

I have no idea whom you're talking about, but it seems to add weight to my contention that we don't just want anyone with a few mil to throw around taking over.

If you automatically assume the new owners will be better at it than Terry, then that's a classic case of "rose tinted glasses" right there. Read just above in the thread where the FFA spokesman talks about how good Terry has been until he started running out of money.

Both groups will have more money (if there are two groups) which by definition will make marketing etc. an option.

Just some runmoured people involved in one group has some people concerned.

Probably have someone other than the Kit Man in a position to do some marketing! Marketing generally involves Money, a commodity Terry is clearly short of!

That raises a whole new set of problems. Do you know if the "preferred" group are the ones, and only ones, who have made contact with FFA? Another issue would be if a group was highly respected but wanted to move to a different city or "share" the games around and rebrand as the New Zealand Phoenix. If a group that was undesirable was to make Terry an offer to actually buy the licence this could turn out quite badly. rjmiller2011-09-09 11:05:45

Just a hypothetical question.

Would people think it at all funny to find out that I have been ringing around town pretending to be Rob Morrison (among others) and inviting people to join various "save the Nix" consortia?

Or have I badly mis-judged the situation?
