Phoenix Ownership - Rob says FTFFA (Part 2)
As I admire your ability to suffer righteous indignation over the little things in life.
Some things can be big things without being life or death. If the Nix means that much to someone, who are you to belittle its importance to them?
Also, if you let sports journalists get away with shark like this, do you let the political journalists do the same? Journalists working in war zones? Journalistic integrity is actually a pretty fudgeing big deal, even when the Phoenix have nothing to do with it.
Yellow Fever - Misery loves company
new forum rule: no opinions are to be given unless it's a life or death situation.
My opinion: I think the FFA are fudgetards and can go fudge themselves. Anyone who doesn't agree will not live!
"Ive just re-visited this and once again realised that C-Diddy is a genius - a drunk, Newcastle bred disgrace - but a genius." - Hard News, 11:39am 4th June 2009
I think standing up for basic principles of journalism is a life-or-death issue, the life-or-death being that of democracy and other good things which comes from honest social discourse. Tolerate lies to generate clicks in small things, shrug at big lies (eg "WMDs in Iraq").
But whoever used the metaphor of the FFA and the press lining up to take kicks at Welnix's testicles while they are unable to fight back is spot-on. I used the "when we bend, do we spread? who's got the Vaseline?" metaphor, to similar effect.
Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009
This forum needs less angst and more Kate Bush threads
Long live the self righteous !
At least we are getting some info via the media, we get stuff all from the club
The interview with Dome on the radio was quite good. The club only says something when there is something to say.
I think that is better than misinformation via the media. But each to their own.
Allegedly

Here is some info
Comments behind closed doors indicate that the Welnix ownership group are not happy with recent changes to the FFA's negotiation position with more caveats attached to any licence extension. They are particularly not happy with FFA requiring that media rights for the A League in New Zealand match the payments the Wellington Phoenix receive from the FFA, around AU$2.6million, with any shortfall being made up by the Welnix group to keep the Wellington Phoenix in the A League.

FFA negotiations with Welnix turn sour
Expect this to be in tomorrows SMH.

I don't think that is good enough. Unfortunately we only get something from the club in response to media "reportings," they are not proactive towards the fans, the ones whom they need now as much as ever.
A lack of information from them in these difficult times causes issues on and off the field. I would have liked them to keep in touch better with us, even to the extent that "we don't have anything specific to report yet, but are working towards solutions/ we love your support in these times/etc."

They ran that fan forum evening and have said in the papers/newsletters (I think) thank you for your support. Sure they could have said more but without something to say, I think it would have been a bit hollow and they wouldn't have wanted the wheeling and dealing to be public.

Here, now. Football isn't a matter of life or death. It's much more important than that...
Agreed. The only reason we all spend an extraordinary amount of time on this website, at all sorts of hours, is because we care.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
If the proprosed FFA 4-3-3 year deal is in fact true, then I think that it is grossly insulting for the Phoenix. They are treating Welnix with absolute contempt. It is plainly obvious that they don't see a future for the Nix in the A-League. The reality is that the FFA are fighting so many fires at the moment...fan disputes, clubs not paying players, clubs with financial problems, disputes with club CEO's..et etc. I think they have decided that can't force the 3rd Sydney team in at the moment so the sop is to keep the Nix making up the numbers and then shaft them later when the stars are better aligned for a South Sydney club.
The FFA is just a complete disfunctional shambles. Part of me wishes that Welnix just shows them two fingers and walks away from the whole mess. Welnix have already said they won't do a four year deal. I just can't see Morrison and co agreeing to keep forking out their own money with the distinct possibility that the FFA will pull the plug in four years time.

So, basically, you want the Club to continually tell us that there's nothing to tell us?
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I SAID ALBANY, NOT ALBANIA

4) Manukau Mongrels (for derbies)
Oooh! That's borderline racist. Hone Fowler and the people behind the Auckland United ASBPrem bid want a word with you. :-/
Mere play of words. If it protects my bodily integrity, i will settle on
4) Mairangi Bay Mongrels.
Oh I work in Mairangi Bay, Can I be in the team?
Sure, if you have enough mongrel. Those derbies against Albany will be legendary.
Wait I work in Albany to, That could get awkward

Actually, basically, yes, if that is what it is. Considering all the effort the fans have put in to keep the club going, the lack of anything form the club is poor, no matter how you try to smartly refute it

daily update for hepatitis: we still don't have a licence.
I can accept that if Welnix were hit with it out of the blue but I can't believe they didn't have an inkling and kept telling us things were fine. Don't piss on my back and tell me it is raining please.
