The problem is that - like Russian interference in the 2016 US election - the FFA are pushing at an open door. If the club were doing well on and off the pitch, people wouldn't believe these wild rumours.

Hah, like the Russian interference, it's all the media's creation ?♂️

No, seriously. Although I personally prefer to believe that Welnix are doing the best they can and will never agree to some of the stupid merger ideas being floated, I honestly think a nice public demonstration of support for the Nix / polite indication of fan sentiment to Welnix will (a) show the media that we still care; (b) burn off some of the energy being channeled into angst on this forum.

What so 3 people can turn up.LOL Despite what gets posted here don't think there are enough people who genuinely care to make an impression.

Getting rid of Gallop would get rid of a lot of the problem. For reasons unknown he appears to hate New Zealand.  Thinking of the NRL and his attitude towards the Warriors.

Except getting rid of Gallop and current FFA isn't happening anytime soon and WelNix have seen the writing on the wall and tried to get out while they can and with some cash.

Yeah I’m not surprised.

I think last season with the whole rebranding exercise was the last throw of the dice for the owners. Now they’re looking for an exit to recoup their cash.

A week ago on here Morrison and Dome, get widespread praise about coming at swinging against the FFA, and an approach of if we go down, let’s at least go down fighting.

Now a week later Gallop and Aussie media (who have been shown up previously for not always publishing truth about the Nix), leak/publish a story about a meeting, where we really don’t know at all what was fully discussed. Gallop leaks just enough info, for many to believe the Nix are off to Sth Western Sydney. Master stroke from Gallop really. Wonder whether anyone from FFA has a peak at this forum.

Right-o. Do you seriously think this is an invented story? Welnix have lied about the meeting with South Sydney, they’re clearly looking to take advantage of expansion. We’re not signing players, we’ve no coach, their denials are punchy but they’ve already been shown to be incorrect - what credibility do they have?

Welnix could have just let the club die after Terry. They do not owe us a football club. The fact is the a league is not a viable commercial product, and it may never be. If the FFA do not fudge off out of the a league, and it was my families money in the club, I would be looking to exit as well.

This article does not cite sources, meaning it's probably all another FFA furphy. But since it confirms with what a lot of angry people believe anyone, of course you all believe it and are gunning for Welnix. And then you wonder why they don't front up more often.

I would be still disappointed, but a little more understanding if they at least didn't lie about selling. (Assuming this is true). Sure, they saved us from losing our football club a few years back, but they seem to be undoing that good deed by trying to actively get rid of our football club while lying to us. I hope it's not true, this is exhausting.

The whole project has been too hard, their strategy has failed and they’re looking to get out while they can without losing too much face. I bet the South Sydney tie up was going to be a “pathway” for “young kiwis into the A League” blah blah blah.  There would be some vague connection for a couple of years which would be as serious as Chelsea and the football kings

They could really easily make this go away but they haven’t. The fact it has not really says it all. Yes the FFA have been complicit in all of the leaks but if we weren’t interested in some sort of deal and were just focusing on recruiting a coach and a squad for the season ahead, wouldn’t this be completely differently handled?

To be honest, does anyone really beiieve the value of an a-league license is $15m Australian? Ludicrous!

It is if you get the benefit of a fully established club framework, players, an established academy and a set of sponsors...vs $10m for a new licence without that.

Still think there  is more to this than just a few leaked stories.Yes they may have underestimated the job they took on. But Rob Morrison dosnt strike me as a shady operator and he has been bloody successful in the corporate world and as far as im aware there has been nothing dodgy involved in his bussiness deals.

Seems many are prepared to believe leaked stories over anything else. If nothing else this may be the starw that breaks the camels back and if it does bet bloody Gallop and the FFA will be happy..

Be nothing new for Kiwi football to be shafted by the Aussies  hope they get smashed in Russia.

Look, I 100% believe Welnix are in the market for "some sort of deal". They haven't denied that. But this latest crap is unsourced rumours. As the Nix press release on Saturday said, the Aussie media have been running with all kinds of stuff that they haven't even bothered going to the Nix for comment for.

Of course, I'm a trusting soul. I really couldn't believe that Terry was dumb enough to fall for a Nigerian scam, and I was proven wrong there. And I may be equally embarrassed if real evidence comes up to say that Rob Morrison lied through his teeth to us. But unsourced rumours are worth just as much as the rumour I just started that Darije Kalezic was paid by the FFA to fudge us up.

The reason I believe it is it makes sense! If you were going to lose your license why wouldn’t you try and cash in? We know there was a meeting, and it’s clear we were trying to investigate some sort of tie up with Aussie club. But we’re supposed to believe that there is no sale planned?  It’s just not credible

So its Australis fault New Zealand cant run its own professional football league let alone pro club?. Media is one thing running a club is another.

I don't see the poor messed up Australia Rugby blaming New Zealand for how badly the game and clubs are handled? over there.

FFA haven't put a price on their licenses yet. They might be asking $20 mil. End of the day, maybe NZ can't sustain a team in a comp like the A League with its unpredictable revenues and high expenses. (As opposed to popular Super Rugby, NRL or cheap NBL) It will suck but not like we can hold a gun To Welnix heads.

Yeah I'm still going to support the Socceroos. The FFA are the enemy, not the players.

If this is true,I'd be disappointed they lied, but deep down I can't really blame them for wanting to get something back from their years of support. FFA really basically shafted us with the metrics and we were never going to be treated fairly from that point on.

Even before the metrics scam Phoenix were shafted because they couldn't/can't enter any Asian competition if they were to win the A-league or the Grand final.

No but when they went to Asia didnt they say they would help the game here for us supporting them.Yes we have fudged things up this side. But lets not kid ourselves that they have done much to help or made it easy. Take your pick from not stopping for international windows, ridiculous draws, metrics that arnt placed on other teams probably others as well sadly.

Rule #1 of selling something is to try and get as much money as possible for the item you are selling whilst that item is still relevant. Welnix have something that other consortiums want so they would be silly to not talk to these parties whilst their licence is still worth something.

Think of it like a Supermarket selling bread. When the bread is fresh the store can command a higher price for it. As it geta closer to its used by date they have to reduce the price and risk making a loss on their investment.

I do not blame Welnix for talking to other parties at all. The FFA have basically cornered them into playing this hand by imposing unfair metrics on only the Phoenix, when the rest of the league is in rapid decline. I also do not believe the Welnix overlords are stupid either. They realise that if they could somehow offload some ir all of their licence to a consortium who is bidding for one of the 2 expansion licences in 2019, then the FFA do not benefit from this in any way as they would firstly lose the licence fee that the new consortium would have paid as well as having to find another 2 financially stable bidders for the new licences.

And lets face it, the FFA's track record of selecting financially stable licencees is pretty fudgeing poor to be honest.

After reading and watching all this unfold as it has, is it even going to be worthwhile trying to cobble together a team for next season?

It's depressing enough to admit it but we won't be a part of the A-League after the next couple of seasons - Better off to cobble together a WeeNix combination type of side, try and garner interest to get a couple of young Kiwi's pro gigs either in Aussie or further afield, as well as give a one finger salute to the FFA at the same time.

Just a thought anyway. All these condescending and contrived media reports do our future no justice. Can only hope, by some divine miracle that we survive in this league, but every day that ticks by lately just seems to be another kick in the teeth.
