Haven't agreed with a lot of what he has said, but I have absolutely no problem with him challenging the 'trap neuter and release' programme.  Unclaimed, unchipped cats (i.e. ferals) should be put down, not released back into the wild.

Gareth isn't the sort to bail out on a project when he has a 3-5 year plan...

I wouldn't bet my house on it.

Talk to anyone who has been involved with Gareths projects. He is hugely passionate but tends to spread himself over a wide range of subjects. Be it conservation, economics, overseas aid...whatever but he does he throws himself in 100% and then has have a tendancy to move on to the latest new thing.

Also people who know Gareth say he is not quite the gruff outspoken person that comes across in the media. He would have been stung by many of the comments in the YF forums pre his "pathetic" statements.( and some of those comments were fairly low rent and unfactual) So it did not surprise me he took exception and fired off a few shots back at "some": of the fans.

What we have now in some of the forums is pure Gareth baiting...IMO. Some of  this stuff is destructive and its moved outside the realms of football. Nothing good will come of this. Everyone seems to think that is a given that Welnix will just keep absorbing the loses and come back smiling year after year....this is not correct. I know for a fact that at least two of the Welnix guys are wondering what the hell they have got themselves into. It is also incorrect to assume that if Garth leaves then the rest of Welnix will take over his share. In fact its the opposite....its Gareths passion that is driving this...its quite probable if he goes then the rest will reconsider their commitment.

I would hope that this forum at least offers support to the owners. They have stumped up their money....they admit they are newbies in the world of running a pro sports operation..they have made some mistakes...and all they get is a slagging off from many on these forums. I find it quite staggering that some people don't cut these guys more slack when its obvious they are learning on the job. They are barely half way into their second season. Its support and encouragement they need.

I have to argue against that cutting them slack. Tony P and Terry worked to include the fans. How do Welnix do that? Decide to toss the fever scholarship (and while Smithy tells that story better, that's what they has happened) talk about taking the team on the road, fans are pathetic etc.

They have/had a ready made fan base. Embrace them. No one said give us a say in running the club but it would surely not be stupid to engage the fans, listen to them and perhaps learn from them too. It helps to keep them on side and if bums on seats are what they want.... Hello?

Here's an idea - if they don't know how to run a football club back off and employ people who have experience of doing so.  Don't wade in boots and all without knowing what you're doing.  Gareth's "passion" is all well and good but it is massively misdirected and even his biggest fans would have to admit that it's been a huge failure on his part.

I don't think anyone questions his overall intentions for the club - what I worry about is his actual ability to deliver what he's intending.

I think it's worth noting that all of this projects have caused a lot of sound and fury in the media, but hasn't really delivered anything.

Couldn't agree more with this. Some have said 'Welnix are new at this, give them time to find their feet', but while they do that they should have employed some people who do know football to steer the ship for at least a couple of years.

Ahhhhhh diddums.
If Gareth can call people names, what is to stop people firing names back at Gareth. If he can't handle it, he should STFU.
People on this forum have spoken with other members of the owners group, who have inferred that Gareth talks a load of bollocks.
He likes to talk on behalf of everyone, but if someone disagrees with him, he starts to get all shitty.
Gareth seems to be the one who starts the baiting, but runs for cover if there is a backlash. IMO

Let's cut Gareth some slack, guys. Stop complaining, He's fronted up and put his money into our club.

Just because he knows bugger all about football but makes broad, sweeping statements about how it should and shouldn't be played is no reason to say nasty things about him

Just because he labels fans as pathetic and unsophisticated, and questions their knowlede of the game, is no reason to say nasty things about him.

Just because he wants results but doesn't appear to want to spend on strengthening the team is no reason to say nasty things abouit him.

Just because the marketing of the club and games seems to be non-existent is no reason to say nasty things about him.

Supporters daring to say less than complimentary things about the man at the top? Disgraceful! Who do they think they are. Ungrateful swines.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I think you have kinda summed it up in a nutshell. To coin a phrase of an album title '5,227,706 Scotsmen Can't Be Wrong!' Its funny how many fans are very much aligned to the thinking above (reading the forum) but we are the ones that have no idea what we are talking about, need to pipe down and just front up every week.
I kinda draw a parallel with Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Owners that are losing cash, have not a clue about what is going on in their business and put out rubbish product because they think they know better and generally refuse to acknowledge the issues or listen to feedback from the customers. Then wonder why their business is in the toilet. Does this sound familiar?

Meh. I don't get why the questions are put up as text rather than just played as part of the interview. Makes it seem deliberately out of context. Just try listening to what he says without the question in your mind and its not actually that bad (so far)

Yeah it's pretty shoddy that it was presented as an 'interview', but we never hear anything said by the interviewer. In saying that, nothing he says is revolutionary, I think we all knew that some players were not happy about being told they weren't good enough for the team, so of course a few of them would look to leave the team next season.

He said that they will maybe leave. Big difference.

That last part is what seems out of context. All he said was the players were unhappy (could be at results, you don't know because you don't hear the question), then he went on about owners wanting new players, and said maybe some will leave next season.

If you take the text question out.

- players unhappy at performance

- owners want to bring new guys in, have spoken about it in a disrespectful way

- some players will be replaced

Which is nothing we don't already know. Nowhere near as revolutionary as their producer made out in his illegal thread.

Dura's interview with Simon Plumb does show that the players are very unhappy with the current situation:
"The players just got together and said we had to start winning games," Durante said.

"If we want to make these playoffs, which is paramount for the playing group, then sometimes there has to be compromise.

"There's always next pre-season if we want to really master that playing game, but we'd be really disappointed if we didn't make the playoffs this year.

"At training we're still working on it, we're still doing it. But I think we were taking a lot of risks in previous games, we were all out of shape.

"Ricki's still encouraging us to do it at training too. We've just come to the conclusion that it doesn't always have to be pretty. If it needs to go long when we're under pressure - it goes.

"In previous weeks we've tried to play our way out of pressure and we've been caught.

"We still want to develop that system, and I think it's important the club goes that way, but I think for the remainder of the season the playoffs are more important and the club can build on it for next season."

I find it interesting that they are still working on a possession based game at training yet, and it seems at the players discretion, they are not going to play that way during the games. Shouldn't they be purely focussed on one system at a time?

I recommend people do not listen to it because they advertised their content in here illegally, and presented it in a very misleading way to try and stir.

Yeah but nothing like a "players hate owners and are all going to leave next season because of it.

I don't actually mind them slowly implementing the game plan, it's what they should have done in the first place, and I believe what they were doing from preseason. Until Gareth opened his mouth.

But what he actually said was, the players were unhappy (could be at anything, including performance - we didn't hear the question). Then mentioned the owners want a new style and will bring new players in. Some players will be replaced.

If you take the question of it, that has nothing to do with those 3 being unhappy at the owners and leading a player exodus.

depends if you class that as advertising. Whats the difference between George Constanza posting loads of links to radio sports link?
Including a very similar interview with Daniel.

Also radiosport advertised it as Daniel saying players will leave at end of season

Without hearing the questions and answers together, its hard to give this any creed. He does not say anything that is not known or suspected. Its poor journalism I think because the whole interview was not played with Q and A. He could also be a disgruntled player because he did not want to leave/did not get his contract demands met.....
