But you are an FFA cheerleader and your prattle does become tiresome frankly.
How long were the FFA financing Adelaide for?

Very true...just about everyone except us.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Sorry Midfielder you seem to be blind to the money the FFA has spent propping up clubs in the A league.Sold for millions, will interesting to see how long it is before their owners coming running back to the FFA asking for money.Very rosy picture you attempt paint, how many clubs in the A league at the moment havnt had to be rescued by the FFA,dont have any idea what the number is but would imagine it be a few. Then you have those clubs that have disappeared but guess its easier to throw thing in our direction.
How am I blind and where have I said they have not funded some teams and further find one post where I have said the Nix current ownership is no good nay very good... If you definition of being good is being able to pay the bills remember Clive Palmer was kicked out and he had heaps of money to pay the bills...
What I have said and posted often and in many threads is how poor nay pitiful the media coverage in NZ is and how many posters like yourself seem incapable of distinguishing between a criticism that looks at real issues and a egg ball attack... like every post that is not all sunshine lolly pops and sugar coated candy drops, not from a non Wellington person has alternative reasons... all this conspiracy theory does not help..
Perfect example is the FFA post above where it says FFA are concerned about crowds and especially ratings and critically revenue coming out of NZ ... so to help they are trying to get FTA coverage of the A-League and especially the Nix... the responses are FFA are in a mess, another FFA stuff up ...
Your owners seem to want to enter into a debate / discussion / dialogue on crowds in Wellington ... and are openly attacked as being out of touch, interfering etc... its their fault...
At some point arguably the two most important management groups that impact on the Nix are signing the same song these being your current owners and those that manage the A-League ... both have said similar things...
You can bury your head and scream its woeful management who don't understand and what a hopeless mess the FFA are .. but at some point you should consider what they are saying... more importantly how they are trying to help..
Also understand what FFA are trying to do and become part of it ... FFA plans are very aggressive and are to become the biggest code and they want a 100 million dollar media deal for the A-League alone within two years.. to put this into context the Super Rugby in the SANDZAR have offered for all Super Rugby matches and all national rugby games less than 15 million... NZ & SA will fund the Australian side of if they go broke ... Football is smashing Union and already in Melbourne and Sydney killing RL in crowds ...
I may be a pest in your mind however my head is not buried in the sand and blaming everyone else ...

Not to mention Gareth's dabbling in first team affairs, the Petone stadium that was never happening.
I'd like to see a bit more of a connection between the club and the fans because this mob seem more worried about fans who are not going as opposed to us lot who do show up every game.
I'm utterly frustrated that they cannot understand why more people don't turn up when our home form since they took over has been appalling, and yet much of this is surely down to a lack of cash investment in the first team and then hoping that we'll conjure up Kiwi youngsters who are good enough, and others from the ASB Prem. They are in cloud cuckoo land.
Spot on. If only the club would open its eyes to this. Oh, thats right they did. They rewarded the fans with the birdie dance.

Bloody good article. The PA turned up mega loud it the norm at Westpac.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
you keep saying it, but I actually haven't noticed that at all this season. In fact, I've often not been able to hear the announcer (awkward when we were meant to be doing a minutes silence/applause last week). And music is never played during the game. Halftime is taken up by the competition, which isn't loud.
Haven't found myself having to shout to the person next to me like I've had to in the past.
Also, the club runs the music etc not the stadium.
Allegedly
Speaking of the halftime competition, was there a guy wearing next to nothing last home game? Over in our area in aisle 12, we all thought he was naked.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
What is the halftime competition? I tend to go out for a pit stop at half time so hardly ever see whatever happens.

Oh right, I did know that. Someone from my own team tried to get us into that for the first game but he didn't hear back.
It is kinda funny to watch from a vast distance.

No wonder we're pants.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Gallop said he was waiting to hear from Phoenix powerbrokers about their plans before a decision will be made.
"We're talking again about the condition of the licence and the ball's in their court," he said. "We'd like to know what their long-term strategy is.
"Let's wait and see what their proposal looks like."

Not a good article. I wonder if this is why the Phoenix were suddenly so proactive this year with stadium proposals, reserve teams, etc.
isn't it just prudent to find out what their long term plan is before granting them a long term licence?
Allegedly
Correct. They don't want a franchise to fall over a year after granted an extension. Especially leading into the negotiations for the next TV deal.
So then is the obvious question, considering that the FFA seem keen to grant it to them, what are the intentions of the Phoenix Ownership group? One would think that if they were solid, then this would not be an issue and we would have the extension...
Grumpy old bastard alert
It just seems odd that all this is coming out now, and in a fairly public way.
Either there's a lot media un-savvy people involved, or there's some fire behind all the smoke.

How they are acting seems like they are setting up the 'Nix for the long haul, 2 academies, reserve team, bringing overseas teams to play HAL teams in NZ. They have been talking about wanting the same licence extension of the other teams in the media. If anything, it's not purely about how well run the Phoenix are but working out what is the best mix of clubs/locations to maximise revenue and interest in Australia - do the Phoenix have a case in that.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

It has to be as much about both though. Whats worse, a well run and financed club like us that's at the lower end of the scale in terms of generating revenue, or a club like Knights, Gold Coast, NQ Fury (or worse a foundation club like Jest, potentially) going bust. FFA need to be realistic here and be pretty thankful for what Welnix provide, which is stability in times of uncertainty. FFA cant even sell WSW.
Ok. Good timing then I guess now that theyre at the bottom of the league
I think there's no doubt that the FFA have judged that having a team from NZ is under delivering commercially vs the potential of an additional 4m A-League fans here. Whether the Phoenix are the problem or not is up in the air, and there are plenty of other influencing factors - how the broadcast rights are being exploited, media interest etc. I think there is definitely fire behind the some, but I don't think it's the Phoenix that are the only issue at all.
Normo's coming home

I get the impression the WPFA does get incur some cost and with bringing in overseas teams there is some financial risk short term but thinking long term it helps build the 'Nix brand and adds value for sponsors. Far easier to just run first team and not worry about costs/hassle of academies, reserve team and bringing in overseas teams.
Keep it or sell it, I would think the incentives are the same - make it a successful team and viable business.
The one to worry about is the option of just giving up the license. And they don't seem to be acting like that's the plan.
