Have heard. A few young players are moving to wellington from november onwards to train for couple months with first team and join reserves

The point of the team is to develop New Zealand's best youth footballers (plus, give fringe Nix players a run). I don't see that this is a joke.

It wouldnt be a team if they did what feverish said.

Itd be a collection of locals from whatever city they happen to be in, with a couple of nix reserves thrown in.

Surely the idea is to make them a team that train, develop and play together.

Itd be a waste of time otherwise.

Surely...if this is 100% confirmed...Phoenix need to look at taking on the more promising young players in the country and trying to develop them?

That's what they are.

Three for me, and two for them.

The Phoenix will contribute a handful of players and the rest of the side will be made up of promising juniors, who will train alongside the Phoenix first team for about 10 weeks.

I would think they would be at the Premiership teams venue. So one game in Wellington.

If the top tier of youngsters are playing ASB Premiership football already, then the nix reserve squad might not even feature any players that could go on to professional football.

Hopefully some of the lads who they pick up will make the most of their chances, they have a good oppourtunity to be signed to the nix. Even if its as injury cover during the season.

Might need a reasonable sized venue for the Wellington derby?

I heard they were thinking about making it at Westpac as a curtain raiser to a Phoenix game, but would appear unlikely.

I've been making initial investigations into attending FIVE matches. Hopefully will manage 5/5.

But yes, Fever trip to Palmy for the YHM match? 18:00 kickoff time not that good for people who have work but if anyone else is keen, we should sort something.

I'll be at that for sure.

Should make fever trips for Team Wellington games to be honest. Surely that should be more of a priority than watching nix reserves play in a friendly match.

Allegedly

I'll be doing both. Hoping to head up for TW away matches against YoungHeart and Waikato. I've done TW @ YHM before, sat with the Green Frenzy, had a bloody good time.

Its actually a fun road trip up to the YHM game.
I remember going up for a finals game, which we ended up losing. Massive downer.

Not really any Green Frenzy anymore but would be good to see some TW support there. Games at Memorial Park now as well, not the Ring of Dirt.
