ASB Premiership sides who play Phoenix reserve side have discretion on whether they can play 2 extra under-20 players against them.

Well, that makes this whole exercise pointless then. 

Bets on which team will deny those players game time?

Theoretically every single team could say no to the extra players, and this whole thing would be pointless. You'd think this is the sort of thing that would be worked out before the season starts and NZF would just make the ruling rather than leaving it up to clubs (who wouldn't want to disadvantage themselves - at least until they're mathematically out of it) week to week. 

You'd imagine that was negotiated to get agreement from ASBP franchises to allow Nix in.

What a balls up. Can we ever launch a footballing initiative in this country without some kind of fuck up hindering it?

3 x 16 year olds from the South Island at the nix academy. Mcgarry a goal scoring left winger from Dunedin; Wilson a defender from Nelson and kampman a GK from central Otago. should be a good experience for them.

If we only have 10 players on the day, can we get one of their bench to play for us? We did this sometimes in the Wellington under-12s Division 5 league and it worked ok. Although there's a chance the guy playing against his own team doesn't really try, but sometimes they go quite well trying to get one over their mates. 

Football School of Excellence products Justin Gulley (fullback), Joel Stevens (forward), Andrew Blake (forward) and Tamupiwa Dimairo (fullback) have been joined by goalkeeper Oliver Sail (Central United), Lower Hutt forward Nathaniel Hailemariam, Hamilton Wanderers striker Xavier Pratt and Stop Out forward Cherbel Khouchaba in the first intake.

Add those 3. Plus 4/6 from the Phoenix.

I've never seen Sam Wilson make a tackle in his life so would be surprised if he plays as a defender. More a left midfielder/winger.

Good on TW for that, would be totally understandable if they had said no. 

Unlikely due to the constant need for small mindedness and local selfishness to prevail.

Thing is it's a lot of time, cost and expense to get 4 guys a few games in the ASBP.  Messy situation, these (U20s) are the exact guys we want playing and developing.  I'd like to see heads knocked together on this for the good of the game here, U20 guys have to be playing and they are always going to be kiwis.  Otherwise you have a team which is a bunch of really young guys, some local filler plus squad players which isn't going to be a very competitive side

On trial at Grimsby Town. Clayton Lewis still at Millwall. Suspect both of those would have been on the wishlist.

Only real weakness could be CD.

4 capped All Whites, 1 uncapped All White, 1 Fijian international, ex/current NZ age group reps. If Ridenton/Rufer don't play, Gulley could move into midfield and Dimairo comes in at FB with one more youngster in midfield. With the 6 'Nix players it looks pretty competitive (not sure on CD).

Ridenton CB.  Few other options and he played there pre-season.

Yeah, I was thinking that. Between the two squads, 1st team and reserves, the area where we lack depth the most.

ATM Ridenton is listed in the squad to play MV (with two to be omited) does that mean he flies over with them? Or will he be ommited before the team leaves.

Teedubs to win this at a canter. Could be a whitewash.

So Ivan says the Phoenix Reserves are very good for the league. Can hear furious clicking of needles at Kiwitea and comments that Ivan is not one of them
